Can we talk about how genius Giygas' PSI imagery is? While all the other imagery is complex and interesting, with unique, strange sound effects with them, Giygas' is so simple it's alien, and it's sound effects is just... Droning. It's just one solid note throughout the whole thing. It's not something you've ever experienced before, and it's terrifying.
Psi Rockin should be ness's final smash. it would be a trapping one, where hit fighters would fall into an earthbound battle scene. a text box would appear saying "Ness tried psi rockin omega!" Then ness would shoot the attack at the fighters, and it would show the psi rockin omega animation. fighter would take massive damage and extreme knockback. THAT. is a final smash.
You gotta admit, despite them being seriously harmful to the eyes at points, they're very pretty. My favourite sound has gotta be the Shield β and Ω ones. There's just something satisfying with the end part.
How I would imagine the character animations for these: Hypnosis series: The character snaps their fingers and a swirl appears over the foe(s). Shield series: A hexagon tiled spherical barrier appears around the target in the color of the effect. Paralysis Alpha: The character tosses a small orb of multicolored electricity. Paralysis Omega: The character throws a big orb of multicolored electricity that drops on all opponents. Magnet Alpha: The character shoots a beam patterned with small versions of the animation, which then returns back to them. Magnet Omega: The character shoots three big beams, which converge into one huge beam of PP on the return trip. Hungry HP Sucker: Jeff vacuums up enemies like a certain plumber using the HP Sucker, then spits them back out. In this theoretical remake, it would remove Tiny Li'l Ghosts, too, just to drive the point home. Def-Down Alpha: The enemy is bound using the zigzags in the original animation. Def-Down Omega: The zigzags from the original animation bind all enemies. Fire Alpha: A tower of flame erupts like in Smash. Fire Beta: A slightly larger tower of flame comes up, leaving some embers on the ground. Fire Gamma: An explosion occurs around the targeted enemies. Fire Omega: A massive pillar of flame comes up, takes up half the screen and toasts all the enemies. Freeze Alpha: Paula moves a ball of ice energy towards the enemy like in Smash. Freeze Beta: Paula tosses many ice energy shards into the air, then hurls them towards the target. Freeze Gamma: Paula shoots a continuous beam of ice energy. Freeze Omega: Paula shoots a huge beam of ice energy. Thunder Alpha: Paula shoots a thunderbolt. Thunder Omega: Paula tosses a thunderbolt into the air which crashes down onto the target. Brainshock Alpha: The screen distorts and swirls around one enemy. Brainshock Omega: The screen distorts and swirls around all enemies. Starstorm Alpha: Small star shaped energy balls hit all the enemies on the battlefield. Starstorm Omega: It's the one from Smash, but directed towards the other end of the battlefield and on a smaller and faster scale. Flash series: The screen displays the effect, then flashes. The brightness and intensity depend on the rank. Rockin Alpha: Ness' fingertips glow and he makes clawing motions, sending energy waves at the opponent. His cap then glows with the colors of the attack and he headbutts the opponent, making the explosion. Rockin Beta: Same as the above, but after the clawing motions, Ness throws two flashing energy orbs, which he hits at the enemy like a baseball. Rockin Gamma: Ness smashes his bat onto the ground, causing a multicolored shockwave, after which squares glow on the ground of the battlefield, which then erupt into columns of multicolored light. Rockin Omega: Ness condenses several orbs of PSI energy into a red, yellow and blue ball over his head, then uses his bat to smack it at the enemies like a baseball, exploding on contact.
I love how Omega fire actually starts to look for a second like it's spinning AROUND the enemies, it's really cool, considering the hardware it was made on.

Earthbound's battle effects were way ahead of their time. SO beautiful and cool and unique. I could play them on a 82 inch LCD TV in 2021 and they would still be as cool Today as they were Yesterday. They translate PERFECTLY into the media world of today. Such a far reaching and AMAZING video game. PLAY EARTHBOUND AND LOVE LIFE!

Earthbound's battle effects were way ahead of their time. SO beautiful and cool and unique. I could play them on a 82 inch LCD TV in 2021 and they would still be as cool Today as they were Yesterday. They translate PERFECTLY into the media world of today. Such a far reaching and AMAZING video game. PLAY EARTHBOUND AND LOVE LIFE!
Brainshock is my favorite. You can literally fit the word "Brain-Shock!" To the beat of the horn sounds.
