      Great! I couldn't find a door in the width that I needed, so I decided to cut the existing door to fit. I'm glad this video helped you.

    Great job!! I am also replacing a number of old interior 24-inch, solid interior doors. Each hinged on two hinges on 6”-width door jambs. Thank you for the education!!🙏

    If you ever do this project again and don’t have clamps to hold both of the side of the panels tight together you can use a bit of super glue to temporarily hold the door together while the wood glue dries for a hour also acetone in a little spray bottle works wonders when using it with the super glue to speed the glueing process up

    I have always had a tough time hanging doors. I end up figuring it out but I always seem to run into some trouble. Nice little departure from the norm with this video. I also see you are up to 125 subs. You are moving along nicely.

      Hey Darrin, Thanks for your comment! Doors have always been difficult for me also. We are still snowed-in but the snow is melting fast! I should be able to get outdoors soon and do some more firewood videos. I need some more loose-stack firewood for the stand. We have been out of inventory for a couple weeks. We picked up another sub yesterday to bring us to 125. It looks like we will get our 4,000 hours before the 1K subscribers at this rate. Have a great day! Hope to see you on the Back 40 livestream tonight!

    Thanks for posting this. I was contemplating running some 24" doors through my contractor saw to take about 1/8" off, but maybe I will use a skilsaw and a straightedge. Nice bathroom remodel. Doors are maddening!

      Hello Ken, Thanks! I’m glad the video helped you. When I couldn’t find a door slab in the width that I needed, I decided to make an older, wider door fit and make a video on it to help others.

      @@AdventuresAtHome1 FYI, the skilsaw failed. At the risk of sounding like a poor craftsman, there was too much flex between the saw platen and the blade. It would not maintain a 90 degree angle. And the edge of the saw platen wasn't remotely parallel to the saw blade. I was reduced to grinding away at it with a belt sander.

      @@kenkingsflyingmachines2382 Trying to cut a straight line on a long door with a Skill Saw would be difficult. That’s why I opted to use my table saw. Anyway, it sounds like you got the job done.

    I think we had the same builder. LOL. The old door of that linen closet is an accordion door. Thats what was available back in the 90's to save space. Mine finally gave way and i bought the same door. I put it on but it is a hair off (not 2 inches). I will use that sander to slowly remove a hair (1/16th of an inch) off the side on the hinge side so the door will finally close after a year or so when i put it on and left it in the open position. Thanks for pointing it out for me to rather remove from the hinge side.

    Not sure why you chose a table saw rather than a circular saw to cut the door down.

    I’ll be doing similar. My door will be cut back further due to the location it’s being installed as a laundry area door. I’ll try to video as to share.

  • @abanks2771
    @abanks2771 Před rokem +1

    Now your door is offset. Wouldn't it make more sense to cut equal amounts off of each side? You would need to buy a door without the door knob cut out.

    • @AdventuresAtHome1
      @AdventuresAtHome1  Před rokem +1

      Yes, the door is slightly offset; however, it isn’t very noticeable. Again, it is a closet door in the bathroom. Cutting away from the other side wasn’t an option.

    • @Cyberdemon1985
      @Cyberdemon1985 Před 11 měsíci

      It isn't an option because you will be getting too close to the key hole then you will throw the door away. What you did was good until they finally do make the 26" doors in the future.

    • @danielchism934
      @danielchism934 Před 10 měsíci

      All you have to do is cut your keyhole back out. Not trying to knock anyone on a DIY project but with any door that has detail such as a six panel, it's better to rip it evenly from both sides. If you can't cut the keyhole and knob out properly then you probably shouldn't be doing this project anyway.
