Hi Becs, please mount that calorifier horizontally. There’s no way the engine water pump can lift the water up that high into the top of the calorifier coil, you’ll have constant issues here with an air lock and an overheating engine. If the top of the copper coil in the calorifer was lower or on the same level as the engine, then you could mount this one vertically. Aware you checked this with the supplier…..but I’m not sure if they understood how you were using this on your boat.
This is why the coils on the vertical ones are down low, so the engine water pump can still move the coolant around and not have to pump uphill. This would the same if you were using a diesel fired heating system that circulates a coolant through the coil….these also have a max hight limit they can pump.
If you need the calorifer mounted vertically, then get a vertical version, if you can mount this one horizontally, then please do and allow enough access so you can get the electric immersion heater out when this fails, you want at least 300mm clearance here for this, as these horizontal ones have 280mm long heating elements. 👍🏻

Hi guys, Bec have you considered the solar gain to be had from a black cover closest to the end of Wombat that is not heated? A decent fan or even USB fans will add free heat when the sun shines. Alternatively ditto for a cool colour on the other end for cooling in between seasons. Be the first on the cut for ingenuity instead of aesthetics! Cheers!

Hi Becca, Chris, Another brilliant and entertaining Vlog. I'm glad the Big Bad Boy Twig had lodged and not moved. Looking at it, A good Cowboy (as in Cowboy and Indians) could have lasooded the Twig and then secured it. Glad your feeling a lot better Becca. Well done for working out the fastening of "Her/She" (pronouns) to the wall. And without a spanner set too!!! Becca, Chris, I loved both your solo's (singing and playing guitar). You two are multi-talented and are brilliant. I saw your YT short where you did a duet (this week) and that was fantastic too. Chris you're editing was again superb this week, not just audio special effects, but splashes of music for effects too. I loved the way you edited Becca playing the guitar, going from a log shot to a close up of Becca playing the strings. The fingers strutting the strings was spot in sync. Chris as for the Whistling Wombat looking cleaner; from this side of the screen she definitely does look better for her bath. You probably have a lot of hidden talents that you are just too modest to share with us.
Becks do get get yourself a socket set but make sure there are both metric and imperial sockets and stay away from the 1/4" units and look for a 3/8" unit. While you are at it, treat yourself to a set of regular "spanners", one end open and the other end closed. Really glad to see you are back to your regular self.
As for ducky, she probably didn't want a long term relationship and flew the coop.

Oh, I’ve just come across a 1960s nautical colour palette, and I think you should take a look and give it some serious consideration. The range is the Captain Pugwash Pirate Selection, and without wishing to be vulgar or upsetting a couple of tones caught my eye. The first is Roger, the Cabin Boy blue, and the second is a subtle shade goes under the name of Seaman Stains Hint of white.

A socket set probably wouldn't have helped you owing to the length of the bolt , some speed wrenches are always handy to have , get a few different sizes of them and they cover a decent range of nuts , can generally find them in sets of 3's .
Surprising they weren't able to throw a gaff hook or two on a line and grab that "twig " from the shore from where you shot the video near the railing and set some pins in the ground and secure it by running the lines under the railing .
I think a socket set is on the cards, thank you for the tips it can be so hard to work out what we need. thankfully the scary twig is lodged but what a great video that would make...especially if Bex falls in trying to Gert it for fire wood 😂

Ask the cover maker about the thread. The canvas shop I use here in the US said only black and white will not lose their colors. All the rest of the threads are dyed and eventually fade or bleach out. Before I talked to the company at the Annapolis Boat Show I had used navy thread with navy Sunbrella. A couple years later the thread had faded to a tan or off white. When I switched to black thread it has stayed black.
Thats so interesting Steve did say he would advise us on the colour choice so hopefully what we have chosen will work well. Thanks for your advice

I had to watch the episode before this on the TV and I can’t comment then but I’m so glad you’re on the mend Bex you really did look crook last week. One step closer to hot water, yeahhhhh. I like the Navy but maybe the darker Navy would be better, I don’t know, do the covers come in pigeon poo colour? Maybe that would be a better colour. Will the Whistling Wombat always be that colour, does that have to be considered when picking a colour. She looks lovely clean Chris even if it is just on one side, LOL. You two can really sing, I watched that “short” the other day of Bex singing and you coming in, brilliant. I don’t normally watch shorts as they disconnect my iPad from my TV and often they don’t want to sink together again, it can take ages to get up and running. A fault of the TV or the iPad????
