  • Sewage is a problem. No more so than in London where the sewage system built by the Victorians was at breaking point - even light rainfall results in sewage being discharged untreated into the Thames.
The solution has been a new engineering wonder: Tideway - London's Super Sewer. Now nearing completion, this system should keep The Thames and London clean for at least another century.
Watch the story of its construction above.

The video fails to mention what happens to all the sewage when it gets to the end of the tunnel, so here are the details. The tunnel will transfer the combined sewers water to the Stratford to East Ham Lee Tunnel for onward delivery to Beckton Sewage Treatment Works. Following treatment the water will then be released into the Thames Estuary.

One minute of fluff for an intro and then a rushed explanation. A boring AI generated video that fails to inform. Do better E&T.
