    Crazy how much the packs went up in price. I paid $115 for a complete gen 2 set with everything but sustainment pouches a while back. Great video!

    Thanks John! Your video helped me make the decision to buy a brand new ILBE off of EBAY. It cost me $300 but it was worth it. Be well!

    All your pack videos are awesome, and love the breakdown on everything.
    I love the APB03 assault pack, but it’s small compared to the FILBE assault pack.
    I added a couple of male buckles to the top strap on the sides of the main pack, and my FILBE assault pack attaches well now.
    It eliminates a separate hydration pouch, and I can carry a lot more ‘to go’ essentials in a bigger assault pack now.

    PS its one in a million if u can find an ilbe pack full system with assault pack and hydration system all together in one package. And if u want it new the whole system its one in a billion and will sell for 600$ to 700$ on eBay. If u dont believe go look. The complete system is by far the rarest.

    Just picked up the exact same bag for 80$ on marketplace. Only one seam that i found that needs to be stitched in the suspension. Doesnt affect the function at all tho or its not in a place to where it would get worse. Been wanting one for a long time but i see them for over 200 to 250 on ebay right now.

  • @cthulhu6697
    @cthulhu6697 Před 3 lety +1

    +3 River Blades Hey, John, hope you're doing good. The $150 for the APB03 assault pack is fucked up. First of all, It's part of the ruck system so it should come with all components. Coleman's Surplus has the assault pack for $60 ( still fucked up they make you buy it separate ) and I paid $150 for the main ruck several years ago, with the lid, belts, straps, and so on. Buying the radio pouch separate is stupid as well, but they're $5 on Amazon. I'd like to have the Recon assault pack, lots bigger with a lot more MOLLE and it can be used as a 72 hour bag if you really needed it to, packed what you absolutely needed, packed the space smartly, made full and wise use of all the MOLLE, and Ranger fold your extra set of camos/BDUs/ACUs, and if the recon assault pack didn't cost 150 to 200 fucking dollars I'd buy one. If it came to SHTF, I'd wear my German Flecktarn set and keep my PROPPER gray "tactical pants" ( basically military trousers in gray ) and a black shirt, with Polar Tech long Johns and layers of black clothing if it's cold, bring layers and coat if it's warm but I need to get outta dodge and may be away for a couple months or whatever. All packed clothing and 3 sets of sofies will always be Ranger folded in any ruck I'm wearing.
    I'm glad you mentioned the sleeve pockets on the sides, nobody does so I thought I had a ruck someone modified. I usually keep a Mossberg 500 Persuader with the "assault package" on one side and a crowbar, plus a camp axe or a scoped 300 Win Mag or scoped CETME on the other, with plenty of room in the elastic pouches to carry a 55 round bandoleer and 12 round tac sling for the shotgun, and plenty of room for a lot of rounds for the rifle if I carry one on the other side. I like keeping my Gore-Tex one of my sustainment pouches ( I have the German military set and the gloves ) along with my military poncho and woobie liner, and ruck cover so that if it starts raining all of my rain gear is in an easy access pouch and I can get right to it. Great review, as always. I like my ILBE better than FILBE, and my U.S. GI MOLLE 2 large combat ruck is nearly the same as the FILBE and way cheaper; they're available as surplus in brand new condition ( at least that's how mine came and I paid $50 for mine at Venture Surplus.com ) and surplus FILBEs look like they're about to fall apart. I had some webbing loops sewn onto the base of my ILBE ( I just take gear I want modified to a seamstress I know, tell her what I want, and she hooks me up really nice ), because I usually carry sleep gear in compression sacks all bundled together with paracord and bungee cords and then lashed on the base of my ruck with bungees and paracord. You take care, buddy. Oh, BTW, you got me using an inflatable Thermarest sleep pad because of your videos ( if I'm gonna be running guns and gear for several days in the woods, otherwise I carry the much lighter military foam kind ). I found a sturdy, good quality civilian kind at a thrift store ( Full Speed Ahead ) that comes in it's own compression sack for $5, seems brand new. Man, it's heavy and it would wear me out to inflate it all the way, so I inflate it to a comfortable level and I must say that it's better than military foam kind. Take care, bro

    Assault packs cost a lot when their new cuz their rare very rare compared to the big one. The ilbe main pack is still 350$ new most times right now. Only used ones are 120 to 160$. So listen guys if u want a new ilbe ur gonna pay a lot more then 150$. 150$ for a new is not realistic. I own 3 ilbe brand new with assault pack all new. Their expensive. I follow all military packs online and their prices over the last 5 yrs. Ilbe new r rare now ible used are rare now. The surplus is drying up. Same with filbe. I own 3 filbes too and I paid 400$ + for each brand new. People say their 150$!! No. Only real beat up ones r that cheap unless u find a rare deal and get real lucky. When the ilbe first came out they sold for over 700$. Its designed by arctyrex the best backpacker maker in the world the ilbe I'm speaking of. No company can compare to arctyrex. The ilbe is a work of art in so many ways. Heavy but comfy and rugged and module. No backpack is ever perfect not one but for military this is number one. And being designed by a civilian company like arctyrex ur getting amazing quality and design.

      I bought a new replacement pack and then all of the other pieces separate. I lucked out I think the replacement pack was like $75 and then had to get the straps, belt, lid, etc... separate. I think I paid less than $200 total. That was about 2 years ago. I did not get the assault pack or bladder. This beast is really comfortable.

    • @Hayyothhakodesh
      @Hayyothhakodesh Před 2 lety

      @@robertbates6057 that's how I built my ilbes I bought all the parts and put them together . I bought the pack too just the bag for 75 or 80 bucks and then the pieces. If u can get creative u can make one heck of a bag for a good price. I bought all my parts new cuz that's just my choice but if new doesn't matter u can get used and get a great deal!. I truly think the ilbe puts the filbe to shame and all other military packs to shame. It's a work of art. It was designed by arctyrex the best bag maker in the world for high end bags and high performance bags. It was designed from the arctyrex bora backpack. And the bora is considered the best made backpack for backpacking in the world. It has no rivals. Propper manufactured it but didn't design it . The materials and pieces and parts and it's design is just by far better then any military pack. I own 3 filbes and 2.5 ilbes and the ilbe is sooo well made.its not just a dump pouch like other rucks but a work of art.
