I find the bigger blades cut deeper with less the effort, also they dont penetrate as much depending on the design. The Kukri is a special weapon, use to deflect incoming blows it can break bones along with severe cut, such as removing ones head in one go,

You can adjust it to fit troops 6 foot and taller.

When I talked to one of my Marine friends that was off in Afghanistan. I like the sharpening stone in the back of that sheath. Sharpening your knife on the window of the Humvee or whatever vehicle you have available. Are you familiar with this? And I'm just a puke civilian paying that close of attention. I tried it I couldn't sharpen a knife with a can opener LOL

I've often seen pictures of soldiers and Marines wearing this setup with a pair of ALICE rifle mag pouches hung on the pistol belt, and what's crazy is just those 2 extra pouches gives you 6 more rifle mags and 4 more grenades for a total of 360 rounds of rifle ammo and 6 grenades.

Love the thickness of that knife. That would be a sturdy one to use out in the field. Love everything except the pancake style sheath, I prefer taco style sheaths.

It's PALS not MOLLE, and the M9 wasn't that bad. Everyone carried a little knife and a racing spoon for just everyday crap. Just a light infantry combat medic point of view. At least I didn't mention crayons.

You were introduced to Cold Steel it seems. It's a dang shame you didn't try an SRK from them. Real work horses do anything knives. I know my brother, upon my suggestion, used a Cold Steel Bush Ranger in an evac of an orphanage in Sarievo(spelling) and said it didn't let him down, ever, and he guards it as such from abuse today.

Surgical steel or surgical stainless steel is ss 440 . The basic stainless from which was develop the old faithful 440C which is far better. But good enough to abuse it and fix it whenever necessary. My 2¢

Love mine. Got two. One in black linen micarta, brass rivets, other in olive green canvas micarta with brass rivets. Mine are first production runs so sheaths are different (better in my opinion). Note: the tip on these blades are so pointy/stabby they are vulnerable, so they shouldn't be abused in that area. Really love these (which is how i got two..lol).

I've found that for a survival knife I like the kabar big brother it gives me a big blade that's light to carry on my belt and for me a axe becomes very important in the winter imho
