      Totally agree. I'm a career musician and I have heard the best of the best. Dimash is in a league of his own and I am just happy to wallow in it. Some of my colleagues are so snotty, "Oh, yeah, I guess he's okay". I turn my head and just walk away. Dimash has the finest voice 'working' today. Here is playing the best Kobys player in the world, Dimash’s friend Olzhas Qurmanbeck.
    This bowl-neck lute played with a bow is is an old Turkic stringed instrument and called Kobys or Kylkobyz in Kazakhstan. The Kyrgyz variant, for example, is called the kyl-kyyak.
    The Kobys is the oldest string instrument in the world and, according to a German scientist, it spread beyond the borders of the nomadic area of Central Asia and became the prototype of all European string instruments.
    (Turkic means: The Turkic peoples are a collection of ethnic groups from Central, East, North and West Asia as well as parts of Europe and North Africa who speak Turkic languages.)
    A legend about Kobyz says that this instrument was created by the great steppe narrator Korkyt-Ata, who lived in the 10th century and that the tool is charged with magical and even mystical properties and sounds like animal voices. In addition, the Kazakh people believed that the spirits of their ancestors spoke to them through this music.
    The old outlook and piety towards their instruments and music was constantly preserved in traditional Kazakh society and ensured the highest spiritual level of musical art and a special respectful attitude towards musical instruments. Simple people, for example, did not dare to touch the shaman's Kobyz. It is said: The balance between the courses of life and death on earth can be maintained by playing the Kobyz.

      I was lucky enough to jump on that upload within an hour myself and I loved it, and how he slid "Ascolta la Voce" into the song with that deep vocal fry, so haunting and beautiful!
      Dimash does drop into that depth now and then and I suspect it is because it sorta feels good, honestly, as much as adding a start to the listener's experience. Sometimes you have to growl and shake those vocal chords. Plus the control this displays... cannot hurt to remind his detractors that he has absolute control of his voice and his breath, yes?

The main difference is in the 2nd verse and in the Krutoy performance only the final F6 would even be moderately difficult for him. Both performances have complicated microtonal riffs, but the Chinese performance is more complex. The hardest part for him vocally in either performance is the C2 and neighboring low notes and he does them in both versions.

    On August 19, 2021, for the first time the sound of kobyz was heard on the stage of the New Wave Hall in Sochi Olympic Park.
    The tandem of Igor Krutoy (piano) and Dimash Qudaibergen (voice) have created the really unique song in English with enchanting oriental melodies. “It was Dimash’s talent that inspired me to write this song, his immense vocal abilities and his desire to sing for a large international audience. Franky (interviewer), I don’t see anyone else who could perform this piece in such a way”, - Krutoy said. (Source: Dimashnews)
    The lyrics were written by Mary Sharon Vaughn (*1947, American musician, songwriter and producer. She writes hits for famous singers around the world) The main arrangement was made by Dimitris Kontopoulos (Greece) and Yerlan Bekchurin (Dimash’s friend from Kazakhstan).

    G'day. Great to get your unique insights into the performance. There are a few reactors out there that reliably provide a novel and revealing view, and you are right up there.
    One English song I would DEFINITELY recommend is "Be With Me". The concert version is fine, but the Official Music Video reveals a whole new side to Dimash (I particularly like the bar-room fight scene!!?!!). But he now has a good collection of songs in English. Another fascinating contemporary-style work is "Ave Maria", a vocalise treatment composed by Igor K in response to Dimash's requirements of "simple/unadorned" and "spiritual". The polar opposite of Stranger, in a single style and a single register, but exquisite.
    Then there is also "Know", which comes in both vocalise and with lyrics. The latter (New Wave version) is my favourite, but both are fantastic. This is in Russian, with amazing instrumentation and a haunting chromatic minor "key", and finishes with a pot-pourri of vocal styles similar to the middle section of Stranger but using a number of American techniques as well as the Kazakh/Turkish. And the staging is incredible.
    Anyway, thanks for a great reaction with some of your best lines since D8 (there's a dolphin somewhere saying "at last, the signal to attack").

      The music video for Be with Me is great, but I personally love the concert version, as it has less production in it and you can hear his vocals better, which might be more suitable for a vocal coach to react to.

    I love how Igor Krutoy stretches the innate talent and learned technique of the people he works with. Notes that would regularly be held for 12 beats are held for 16 or 20. Octave jumps become and octave an a third. C2s become G1s. A two octave song becomes a two and a half to four octave song. Lyric-driven songs become vocalises. My thought bubble.

    Dimash has indeed presented songs in English. His pronunciation has improved dramatically since he presented 'All By Myself' at the Singer competition in China, 2017, and 'Hello' at Singer in 2018. Some others: 'Your Love,' 'My Heart Will Go On,' 'Adagio,' 'Screaming,' 'Across Endless Dimensions,' 'Queen Medley' (with two Chinese singers), 'Give Me Your Love,' 'Golden,' 'Mademoiselle Hyde...' Eh, that's about half of his English songs thus far. From 2017 to 2021, he obviously spent a lot of time working on his English, and it paid off in 'Stranger.'
    One of Dimash's most recent songs has been causing vocalists and vocal coaches to fall out of their chairs, just as 'Stranger' did for you. It's another Krutoy composition - 'Ave Maria.' It's the only song I've heard from Dimash that happens entirely in the soprano range - so theoretically, a soprano could sing it. Theoretically. But I haven't found any covers by sopranos. When you hear it, perhaps you might explain why sopranos are shying away from trying their luck.

    • @dimanetov1807
      @dimanetov1807 Před 2 lety

      Pronunciation still has some issues, sometimes he forgets to pronounce the "t", so sometimes it's ok but other times it's "Sranger in a sranger's land" and strength is pretty much every time "streith".

    • @Urgelt
      @Urgelt Před 2 lety +1

      @@dimanetov1807 Sure. But his pronunciation has improved dramatically.
      I loved Dimash's 'Adagio,' though he had a lot of difficulty with English vowels in 2017. "When the time is rought..." He has tamed the vowels now, and all that remains to critics is picking nits over odd consonant placements. But native speakers easily understand what he's saying, and that's excellent.
      English isn't an easy language to pronounce correctly, alas. Which is why native speakers bollix it up so often. How many of us pronounce 'probably' correctly? I do, and it's a pet peeve of mine when people pronounce it 'probly.' Argh!
      But I'm just picking nits, too. I understand what's being said, and living languages aren't static. They evolve. If, collectively, English speakers decide 'probly' is good enough, then by definition -
      It is.
      Dimash is something of an influencer. Who knows? We may all be pronouncing 'strength' as 'streith' 20 years from now!
      Or perhaps not. :P
      I'm just pleased when I can dispense with the translations and listen to a fabulous singer doing amazing things with his voice in a language I can understand. Good enough!

    Igor Krutoy said “It was Dimash’s talent that inspired me to write this song, his immense vocal abilities and his desire to sing for a large international audience. Franky, I don’t see anyone else who could perform this piece in such a way” ❤️🎤🔝🔝🌹🌹🔥👏👏👏

    @Baldevi Před 2 lety +6

    I love you Julia, so I am going to suggest a thought about this particular piece and Dimash's choices about changing about all the time, if I may?
    This song is all about past/other lifetime recognition. The many tone/register changes reflect those lives as they pop into his cognition. "Many lives and loves I've lost, I feel them in me still." At 10:27 of your reaction he slides into a series of vocalese singing, all very different style and registers... again, those lives and loves expressed and recognized and expressed with his voice, or maybe through him and his voice.
    You even popped up that the shifts in that section of vocalese still adaptations of what has come before in the song...
    Remember that when he sang Sinful Passion he sang a phrase with tons of changes/shifts for 25-27 seconds! There's film of him singing a note/phrase and shrugging, waving casually as the Dears scream proudly, lol.
    Anyhoo, I do wish someone will notice the 'story' behind the many changes of range, tone, etc being those other/past lives popping through him as he feels them in his soul...

    Thank you for this genuine reaction! Liked it very much! When I first heard this song, I was reminded of a medieval movie, with warriors going on crusade. But later it turned into a movie of explorers, landing at the shore and discovering a new world. And all of Dimash's vocal choices reflect the different phases (or stages?) they go through when they conquer this new world, from grief about what they left to fear and curiosity up to fighting spirit. If that makes any sense. 😀

    about a month ago, i watched a compilation of his "updated range", to which i've gotten attacked over, even though i was just sharing the info. the channel name is Jung Jun Sik for the updated range compilation.
    dimash's new range has evolved to 7 octaves 2 notes, but he is constantly improving and working on his voice. he's had 22 years of practice, last 12 years have been on his higher registers because in his first few sos performances, he never had any high register notes during the song. there's a compilation of that itself, sos from 2012 to 2019 and the growth in his higher register alone is just phenomenal. (there was one that had 2009 - 2019 but i can't find that.) the channel name is dimash fever for the compilation of sos over the years. i won't give links because they get removed as spam.
    his updated range includes (at least 2-5 seconds per note for it to count as a true note):
    lowest growl - C1
    lowest fry - G#1
    lowest chest - A1 (i've been attacked for this note in particular, but there is proof that he has hit that note many times over the years)
    highest mix - C6 (known more commonly as the soprano high C, which is a struggle for most female singers at times)
    highest head - F#6 (this is his most favorite note to hit, and the most comfortable for him to hit, it's strange XD)
    whistle notes - range around D7-D8 (but he is known to sing more whistle notes at times....this was more directed to the unforgettable day gakku performance and the drunken concubine + diva dance)

      was watching the sos compilation video and realized that he also didn't have his deep low notes at first either. he sung it in his comfortable chest voice and would gradually add in the high notes, and then the deep low ones. 2 years before the singer show, he wasn't using his deep chest voice at all, just his normal tenor/countertenor.

    Dimash is the best singer in the WORLD and there are no doubts about that, his voice is a prodigy of nature and a genetic marvel since his parents are two glories of singing from Kazakhstan since he was 5 years old, he sings publicly and has more than twenty years of lyrical training and graduated from the university of music, he is a singer, composer, arranger and multi instrumentalist, he plays more than seven musical instruments and sings in more than Ten(10) languages, he is also a great performer and a great artist who lives and feels music He is not an imitator of voices , Dimash has his own style and is one of the forerunners of the "POPera" he also has a very pleasant, HUMBLE and simple personality, easy access, which makes it very easy to follow, he always travels with His family and friends is a very educated person and an example to follow, he has become known for his musical talent not for getting into trouble or scandals, It has a very wide vocal range of approximately 7 octaves ,he is a singer with a wide vocal range very versatile is Baritone, TENOR , Soprano, counter TENOR, mezasoprano, everything at the same time is how to have 5 singers in one, it has a male and female voice, also many resources such as vibrato, "melismas", falsetto, Staccato,whistle tone, reaching a( D8 )live "Outside of Piano"at the concert of Gakku in an unforgettable day, at his young age he continues to improve and grow musically to perfection, he has a good physical presence he measures 191 cm or 6 "3", he is very famous and recognized in Asia and now he is becoming known In Europe and America, ALL their songs are spectacular, it always goes from low to high, soft to spectacular at the end, in my almost half a century of life I never heard so much quality and it is the hope of continuity of the classical genre because all the old tenors have already Almost all of them died and Dimash can sing like them but none of them can sing like Dimash, being a Man he sings better than any Tenor and his female voice is superior to that of any average Soprano, greetings and a hug from USA 🇺🇸 "Dears" Forever ❤️👍🏻 Sorry for copying and pasting my informative comment in ALL the Video reactions to Dimash what I see but I do it with the intention of sharing information about him and what I think that in the music industry there are many artists who have been successful and have no talent and are bad people and they do not set a good example for the youth, Dimash and his music deserve to triumph in America, Europe and the whole WORLD, do you want to have already read my comment please come by without problem there is always someone who for the first time knows this information and I won't get tired of sharing it with all my friends"Dear" around the world, thanks for reading and for supporting Dimash 🙏🏻S.O.S. Julia, if you want an English song, go with "The Show Must Go On" from Queen. It was his 3rd performance on The Singer 2017, his first English song. It will give you a fantastic idea of how much better his English has gotten; there are a few words that don't come out right, but you still can understand it.

    Another great reaction and educational analysis. Dimash premiered his newest song "Stranger" on August 19, 2021, during his performance at the annual New Wave music competition in Sochi, Russia. He once again performed with Igor Krotoy on the piano and introduced Olzhas Qurmanbeck on the kobyz. Igor Krutoy composed the music, American poetess Sharon Vaughn wrote the lyrics, and Dimitris Kontopoulos (Greece) and Yerlan Bekchurin (Kazakhstan) did the arrangement.
    It is an amazing performance, one of, if not the best to date, in my humble opinion. Dimash traverses almost 5 octaves (C2-F6) in this performance. That stunning last note is an almost 20-second full mixed voice belt in F#5.
    Igor Krutoy is quoted as saying that “it was Dimash’s talent that inspired me to write this song, his immense vocal abilities and his desire to sing for a large international audience. Franky, I don’t see anyone else who could perform this piece in such a way.”
    When Dimash first listened to the melody of "Stranger" he felt that the addition of a kobyz to the musical arrangement would give the song a unique, yet very fitting sound. Thus, the kobyz made its debut at the New Wave Hall at the Sochi Olympic Park, and what a great choice indeed. It is a beautiful sounding instrument that seems to underscore the song’s deep meaning. This wasn’t the first time that Dimash has featured Olzhas Qurmanbeck playing the kobyz. You can also enjoy him in a few of Dimash’s other performances such as Qairan Elim (official music video) and Samaltau (2020 Tokyo Jazz Festival).
    The kobyz is a very old, traditional, and sacred instrument in Kazakhstan. The kobyz or kyl kobyz is the most ancient bowed instrument on earth, widespread among the Turks, Kazakhs, Karakalpaks, Bashkirs, and Tatars. It became the basis for most of today’s bowed instruments around the world, including European instruments such as violin, viola, cello, and contrabass. The Kyrgyz variant is called kyl kayak.
    The instrument is carved from a single piece of wood (typically apricot) or juniper (arsha), maple, pine tree, or birch. The instrument consists of three parts: head (bas), middle (base is keude), and lower part (ayak) and usually measures 60-70 cm. It has two strings made from horsetail hair; one to provide melody and the other resonance. The bow is shaped like an archer’s bow, and its string is tied to both ends of the bent branch and affixed with strong threads of camel wool.
    The New Wave Music competition started in 2002, and for nearly two decades now has been one of the most iconic music events in Russia and other parts of the world. It is an international contest for young performers of popular music. It was founded by Russian composer, performer, and music producer Igor Krutoy (seen here playing the piano) and Latvian pianist and composer Raimonds Pauls. Russian superstar Alla Pugacheva eventually joined as one of the show’s organizers. The contest usually lasts for six days: 3 contest days, 2 special event days, and the final day when the contest's results are announced and a final concert is performed. The television audience of the New Wave music competition numbers more than 200 million people. In 2018, Dimash debuted as a guest performer, performing his now legendary rendition of “Sinful Passion”. This year (2021) Dimash took part as a guest performer, as well as a judge. In this year’s finale, 11 participants from 9 countries will compete for the grand prize.
