Roland Cloud ZEN Expansions and Sound Packs for JUPITER-X/Xm : Installation

- By request, a rough video going through the process of purchasing ZEN-Core Wave Expansions and Sound Packs on Roland Cloud; and then transferring them to and finding them on your JUPITER-X or JUPITER-Xm system via USB stick. Sorry, no sound demonstrations, just a walkthrough of the process with poor narration.

Thanks again. Using your steps, I was able to create a new Tone from scratch in Zenology Pro today and import into my Jupiter-XM. Mission accomplished! :>)

Thanks for doing this Robert as always your efforts are much appreciated. I have to say that even with your walk through this is a fairly lengthy process and pretty daunting. I hope Roland add a drag and drop librarian feature like ASM have to the RolandCloud app.
I believe I saw a reference earlier today that RC and/or Zenology itself will be supporting transfer by direct connection (USB MIDI?) later this year, perhaps as part of Zenology Pro. No more sneakernet!
Robert Saint John That is great news! Fingers crossed that this is a free feature for registered hardware owners (as it is with most other manufacturers) especially as the tone and wave expansion packs themselves are not.

Hi, thanks for the video, I've tried the procedure and it did not work for me though. These are the steps I went through :
1. Upgraded Xm's firmware to 1.21
2. Formated a thumb drive with the Xm's built-in utility menu (though I previously already used this drive with the Xm)
3. Went to my Roland Cloud account through the app and purchased EXZ006_World expansion
4. Downloaded the expansion and copied the .EXZ file onto the root of my thumb drive
5. Powered-Off and ON while the Enter button was pressed.
Unfortunately it keeps showing up an empty Expansion installation screen, so nothing to install. Is there something I missed ?
The Expansion installation manual relates some licence reset procedure. Is there something I need to do about the licence, considering it's the very first expansion I install on the Xm ?
OK it wasn't in the / but inside /ROLAND and I needed to use the > to start importing when on the empty screen, that's why it didn't detect.

@@RobertSaintJohn yes I'm all set thanks, I had accidentally dropped the EXZ inside /Roland. I have some interrogations though on if I actually needed to buy it while this EXZ was available for download in the Fantom category.

Is there a Roland JX10 Zen pack, please?
No, the Wave Expansions are PCM-based and not specific to any single synth or instrument. But it already comes with a JX-8P Model with up to 32 voices, so that’s much like a JX-10 (8P x 2). There are new “Model Sound Packs” (as of February 2021) including a new 8P Sound Pack by Protovolt
When I go to menu and utility I DONT see import tone, the only options it shows are backup, restore, user pattern export, factory reset, and format usb memory.
Sounds like you may not yet have updated your firmware to System Program 1.21? Utility should read Backup, Restore, Import Tone, etc. The use of these packs requires 1.21 for both the Xm and X.

@@FroggyMan I've updated to 1.30, am a Roland cloud ultimate subscriber. Having the same issue on import. - file incorrect or license can't install. My XM is 3 days old. HELP!
How many expansions did you manage to fit on your jupiter?
Tommy Varekai Only holds two. I think this is true regardless of which Expansion sets are used
Is there Roland D50 Zen pack?
Wave Expansion EXZ015 “Vintage Synth” includes Tones and waveforms based on D-50 - www.roland.com/us/products/rc_exz015_vintage_synth/
@@RobertSaintJohnIt’s so strange that they wouldn’t link to that tone list pdf that says what’s actually included in the expansion pack. Are you aware of anywhere online where those pdfs are actually posted? I’ve been searching and not coming up with anything definitive. Based on the names it certainly looks like these are related to the SR-JV expansion cards for the JV/XV synths. Feels backward to be required to make the purchase before you know what you’re getting!
