- I adore these scenes. From September 1994, after Bet has had a bad time with a fella, she gets drunk on cocktails with Raquel one night at the Rovers.
The relationship between Bet and Raquel was very touching, both Sarah Lancashire and Julie Goodyear worked well together.

They don’t take a chance with characters any more either they just use exsisting young characters in these crazy storylines rather than build a character up over time like Becky McDonald

Great point. Everything is overdone nowadays.
Very true, and is why bet lynchs return in 2002 failed, is because she couldn't cope with the hectic schedule of 5 episodes a week, overkill.
The current Rovers bunch are no match for these two.

Hopefully someone can later confirm this but was Neighbours character "Walter Joseph" played by Joe Mangel (1988-1991) once auditioned for both Coronation Street and Emmerdale but failed to impress any of the casting director's??
