- Betty, Bet and Fred - Coronation Street May 1983.
Admittedly, the editing isn’t great but it was the best I could cobble together from the various clips available. It’s not pretty but it does tell the story.
Betty (Betty Driver), Bet (Julie Goodyear) and Fred (Fred Feast) were all bar and cellar staff at The Rovers Return. Fred invited Bet on a picnic in an attempt to get her on her own. Bet was tempted by the day out but in no way wanted to be alone with Fred, so she asked Betty to go with them.

I loved this episode. It was a classic! Back in the day Corrie, was like a comedy. I absolutely loved it. I don't watch it anymore.
Back in days when coronation street was worth watching and the writers had the right balance of comedy and tragedy,
100% agreed 👍
This is my first memory of Corrie when I was a kid, I’ve never forgotten it and still chuckle to this day 😂
I think I started searching for it in my first week of having internet access. Corry was so great back then.
The most sophisticated and classiest Rovers Team ever.
One of the funniest ever Corrie moments
Vera answers the phone at the end with Battersea Dogs Home. Had to replay it a couple of times to make sure I heard it correctly lol.
Classic scenes.
I remember this so well ,so funny bless them
The location scenes were filmed at Tatton Park in Cheshire.
You've got the keys you're the driver you get out here and start it rapid come on you Jessie.
Oh no Betty not on your life that ex member of the AA out there is going to carry us. Truly greatest Bet Lynch rants ever kills me so much
Even though I was not around in 80s this scene literally had me in stitches when first watched it especially Fred faceache dumping Bet in the cow dung thought I was literally going to faint
Well, I remember it from the first time around and I’ve searched for it from the birth of CZcams. I never did find the whole thing but eventually found all the bits from various sources. Glad you enjoyed it, it’s one of my favourite episodes.
LOOOL ! Thanks ! I've been wanting to see the other half of this for ages !
You’re very welcome! I remembered the scene from my childhood and was desperate to see it again. I thought I’d never find it all of it, let alone be able to stick it all together 😄
When Bet is taking it looks like the summer months and when Betty is talking it looks like the spring
You've got the keys, you're the driver, YOU GET OUT HERE AND START IT!!! RAPID!!! COME ON YA JESSIE!!!"
An angry Bet was a wonderful thing to behold 🤣
I remember this lol
There's more currants in a flippin' Eccles cake.
I remember watching this first time round. Me and my sis rollibg on the floor laughing at Bet sitting in the 'cow plop'
Thank you so much for uploading this! I’ve not laughed this much in years! Crying tears of laughter
You’re very welcome! I searched for this little storyline for years and could never find the whole thing - just little bits. Eventually I found all the relevant parts and was able to put them together. I love Corry from this era.
I remember Betty or Julie saying they had a wee in the car cos it wouldn’t have made any difference lol.
I remember watching the broadcast episode. It was great!
I can remember watchi g this episode with my mum and us laughing our heads off especially when Bet realises shes sat in cow dung!!! This was Coronation street at its finest!...northern working class humour, great characters, relatable storylines and pure comedy gold. Sadly its lost its way and is no longer the wonderful soap that it once was.
where did the cow plop come from.. wouldn't imagine cows grazing around there haha
This is the one with the car classic bit where bet sitting on mud😅😅😅😅😅😅if Dolly Parton see bet doing story 😅😅😅😅😅😅 3:46
This was when Corrie was top class.
8:21 very sad that so many of this scene have passed may they RIP
A very hilarious corrie with the car in the lake
Filmed in Tatton Park in March 1983. Pull up the handbrake Bet. If the car was a Hillman Hunter not a Rover then the handbrake is in its unusual place near the drivers door.
Bet throws the handbrake in the water ?
Look carefully at the bottom of the screen you can see the splash 😂
Talking about making this episode. From her book “Just Julie”
