The best is when Brenda leaves Malcolm an answerphone message n when he plays it back, he talks to it n they are actually having a conversation!
    That was funny!

I always loved 'Watching'. Emma Wray was like a breath of fresh air when the programme first came on and as time went by I couldn't understand why t.v. companies weren't falling over themselves to get Her on air. I miss Her!!

I went to Meols once. I saw the row of houses where Malcolm and his mother lived, but couldn't work out which was theirs.
I didn't stay long. There's bugger all there and people started appearing at their windows and staring out at me.
When I told someone in New Brighton that I'd been there, they said "Whatever for?" in a horrified tone.

This show is great as it made me laugh and cry, the days out Brenda and Malcolm had together and the scene from the last episode of series 6 nearly had me in tears but I’m glad things were sorted after. ✌️😙

After the success of " Bread" it was probably a Merseyside based show that tried to capitalise, althogh it was very good in its own right...gentle, inoffensive and of its time, Emma Wray definitely " drove" it at times. Good stuff, lovely review.

I loved the theme song to this sitcom sung by the leading actress I believe. I think Ken Jones was also in the 80s sitcom Valentine Park. Anybody else remember it? He was one of those familiar faces who starred in eighties sitcoms but I didn't know his name until now. Watching used to be shown over here in Northern Ireland on Fridays which was also the evening that a grocery van came to our estate. Now the only services our house gets is the post man.Its wonderful how shows like these bring back memories of a more simpler time.
Part of the Valentine Park song went
    " We maybe beginners,
    But we could be winners.
    Meet me in Valentine Park"
It's wonderful how these lyrics are still rattling around my 50 year old brain.

I absolutely loved this show and recently I saw all of the series on a channel called Forces Network (I think) and I really enjoyed them all over again, Forces Network is now ended so I don`t know if another TV station will ever show it again but it was so much fun with Brenda and her quick wit. Emma Wray was small and very cute and was the star of the show.

@@honestchris7472 True. ITV3 is technically still the home of classic programmes such as Heartbeat, A Touch Of Frost etc. Truthfully there should be a another channel on Freeview in particular that should take over the role that Forces TV left behind. Fingers crossed it could happen someday.

She did another series where she was a nurse and Tony Robinson was her neighbour. All I can remember from it is Robinson's screen wife moaning about his skidmarks.
She "Went travelling" after that and was no longer listed in the acting directory.
I saw it mentioned in an article a while back that she was campaigning about something, but I've forgotten what.
