10:42 if all of her hair is real, I completely understand why she’s so emotional about cutting it. Black ethnic hair is so difficult to manage and keep healthy. Constantly trying to wear your natural hair while feeling confident is almost impossible because of society norms. I feel for her.
Gabrielle Magaña really? Now you can be an alien with a shining horn, call yourself a mermaid and no one can say a word about it because it’s either racist or inappropriate.
Brad has a point but I feel like Tyra pushes people to their limits wayyy too much. I get that that's how the model industry is and that's why I would never put myself in that position especially as a black girl. Imagine someone wanting to chop off or perm my hair that I've worked so hard to grow. I've been through so much with my hair that it literally is a huge part of me. I don't know how to explain it but my hair is literally my everything, as sappy as that may sound😌. I love every single individual perfect curl. So I get how the girls would become upset.
I agree. But it’s a tv show that’s prioritizing entertainment, not about actually perfectly recreating the industry. I’d feel the same way about cutting my hair, so I definitely feel for them, but the show was on air for a decade before this. So any model going on knows the risk of a makeover as drastic as a buzz cut. Tyra could have buzzed her bald instead of just the side.
But you aren’t a contestant. All the girls who signed up for that show knew the makeovers were going to happen. They shouldn’t have signed up if they weren’t ok with a haircut.
But the make over is part of every season and there are seasons were every change is dramatic. If you really want to win you have to be prepared for the change in your style.
You know what guys? I just realized I got catfished on tinder like 2 years ago by someone using pictures of Dustin McNeer(the guy with the short blonde hair) who I have never heard of before as I am from Germany 😂 I am laying in bed in the middle of the night laughing at myself watching this😂😂😂
I love how nyle just pops up in the back of scenes trying to see over people to read lips. Like. He is 1) just adorable and 2) just so genuine and I love him.
That moment when the girl with the mullet shouldve been acting like the one with the side shaved head. in what world is a mullet considered high fashion tf?
okay so don't drag me but tbh i understand what that girl felt when she had to shave part of her hair. personally, my hair is my pride and joy and the only thing that brings me confidence, and if i had to just shave part of it off i would cry too because my hair took me YEARS to grow out.
I understand it takes a hell of a lot of time to grow out black hair (in my case, mixed) but she was going on a modeling show. In my own experience I know that being a model or an actor it comes with certain criteria for your looks. If they want you to be bald, then you have to go bald! And that was VERY clear to her when she signed up for the show. I just hope she actually liked the way her hair looks and if not then she shouldn’t have her sights set on modeling😬
I'm white and it took ten years to grow my hair out when I cut it so yeah it can take that long. I am super jealous of people who have fast growing hair. I think if she wants to win and thinks she can, cut the hair. If not... then leave. Don't let them peer pressure you -_-
i understand why the black girl was crying. hair is pretty much everything to us. and because of the many negative stereotypes of our hair we (most) want to retain length because that’s what people(esp our own men) see as beautiful.
Cj.Draw.Z Art there’s no need to be rude. it’s pretty well known that hair in the black community is a large factor in deciding who’s “beautiful”. yes it is very unfortunate people make that decision on something so shallow but it’s frequent. maybe instead of being ignorant and close minded try understanding the culture of the communities around you.
Brad when he sees a girl crying over a haircut that he thinks looks good: oh my gosh get over girl it’s just hair Brad when he sees someone crying over someone a haircut that he also hates: girl I’d be crying too, I’m so angry
@@DeathnoteBB Not that I always agree with Tyra but a girl with standard long hair doesn't always stand out just like a guy with short hair.. It's about reversal of expectations (giving guys long hair which is not as common and giving girls shorter looks)... But she got to keep her long ass hair anyway..they just shaved the side... All she has to do is part it down the middle and you won't even be able to see the shaved portion. It was honestly overdramatic and either it was played up for the drama of the episode or she didn't think hard enough before joining the competition.
@@DeathnoteBB Why did she go on this show then? Literally EVERY SEASON there is a high chance you will lose your current hairstyle and compared to the rest of them, she had a changed style that could be hidden back to her original style. If she cried a bit or was sad I totally understand that but like I said before, she was either quite dramatic about it or the show was playing it out for drama because she acted as if she was shocked and upset at the notion of changing her hairstyle. It was a fairly small change (same length, same color, same straight style) and could have been SO much different.
I can see why chick was freaking out over shaving part of her head. Growing up black people would call you all sorts of bald headed and ugly for having short or uneven hair. Pretty much nobody knew how to do black hair right. Or the right conditioners, creams or oils to use. Folks had breakage via heat/chem/dry hair, hair ripped out by combing and braids. Super bad self esteme via short or natural hair all around. So if you got your hair long you knew it would take forever to grow back if it ever got cut of if there was severe breakage and cried forever and a day. I know that for a fact my momma went clip happy one day on a "trim". I cried and was miserable for a week till I found a way to make it work. Mini buns and bantu knots. Idk a lot of confidence goes out the widow when it comes to hair and confindence. Now I don't really care too much. It's different now when it comes to hair knowledge and embracing hair types but some stuff is hard to shake. But I give her credit she shed her tears at 1st, then moved on and embraced her new look w confidence.
@Jean Smith I definitely agree with you. I love watching these videos of him reacting to the makeovers. But he doesn’t seem to have much empathy for the black girls who are upset if they have to cut their hair. I don’t think he realizes that in the black community-especially the women-that hair plays a big part in their identity. When they have to make a drastic change (i.e a haircut) it could be a traumatic experience. From watching these specific videos I hope one day he’ll recognize the big deal it could be when their hair is changed drastically and express some empathy for them.
@@Des444Xo That doesn't she wouldn't have an emotional response. Knowing doesn't stop natural human responses. I figure she knew that some things would be changed but I highly doubt she knew part of her head would be shaved.
That's why I shaved my head. People act like black women's femininity is attached to their hair and dont hold other women to the same standard because of texture discrimination. I've never felt more feminine and fairy like, in my life. People need to leave us the fuck alone and let us be beautiful however the fuck we wanna be beautiful.
@@shhhh6174 Jazmyn I'm glad that you're embracing that beauty! I love that you even said fairy-like. See that confidence is what all our sister's need to have. We can rock whatever cut, color, texture we want and still be dazzling!
I empathize with the girls who was crying about shaving the side of her head. It’s not like her hair was short or it was a weave , it was long and that was her real hair. And it’s not like the undercut made her look more “high fashion” if anything she looked the same She already look good and they didn’t know what to do with her tbh
The girl who was crying about her hair was probably emotional because it probably took YEARS to grow it that long, I haven't had a big cut on my hair for two years, the last being a shave, and I can barely put it in a pony. I would cry too if they wanted to cut off my progress.
Jasmin Alexis Comman I think the hair grows the same rate as other hair textures but because of the curl and shrinkage it takes way longer for it to look as long
Not fair Brad! You almost lost your mind at the thought that they might cut your favourite male model at the beginning of the video, and then blamed the girl who was afraid of shaving the underneath of her hair for being upset. Just not fair.
Nyle was the best looking guy out off all the guys on his season and the season before. He deserved to win bc he was a really great model and he stood for something he believed in and wanted to make a change in the world, and that’s exactly what he’s doing! ♥️
yea its the same thing with bangs when you try to grow them back out theyre gonna be at an awkward length eventually and all you can do is just pin them back for months until you can finally pin them back behind your ears lol
To be an black women with that long of hair I would cry too bc we don't grow hair as fast a you do and that is cry worthy that took her years to grow out
TALAYAH Wright Right, mines is the type to get tangled after a good washing and a minute of air 😑..... Also! My hair haven't made any and I mean any noticeable growth for about 4-5 years.
The girl with the mullet, dude she still looked gorgeous, she was so pretty to begin with and her confidence tops it, I think that if someone should be a model is her, she is the damn definition of "Easy to work with" that Cassandra was trying to pull off
also i just cannot get over how much i love that hoodie. 'live your extra life' is really a great catchphrase because it's universally applicable; doesn't exclude anyone.
Why do you guys keep spreading that lie? Black hair grows like every other hair, the problem is black women do so much manipulation to thier hair that most of the hair they grow can’t be retained, i guess i can’t be too mad at you though since black women themselves keep spreading this lie
@@GraduateJLN Sorry, I honestly don't know much about the topic. I just heard that it can be harder because it tends to be a dryer hair type. My bad, I'll do my research next time;)
Bulletproof hope you guys are dumb asses because lots of people have certain things that they really like about themselves and when you take that away it's kind of hard to get over. Also some things become apart of someone and when you take it away they don't feel like the same person
Maya Ash Yea! Because me and my mom got the same length haircut and hers grew to her waist! We cut it to our shoulders! And by the time her hair grew to her waist, mine only grew a few inches! I'm mixed, black, French, white, Puerto Rican, and Basien (Barbados) (however you spell it) and my mom is Puerto Rican, no black so I was like UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
People with the ‘it’s just hair’ mentality are usually the ones that have never truly struggled with it. My hair is a huge source of anxiety for me. I was picked on for it so much as a child that I still struggle with it at 35. And the world of black hair care can already be so judgmental that doing something as simple at cutting it can be traumatic. Retaining length in black hair is like finding a unicorn. I understand completely why she doesn’t want to cut it and honestly wouldn’t blame someone for leaving over it.
If her hair was so important to her and she was worried about pageants then she shouldn't have been on ANTM. She wants to be a model but keep her all American look? Then apply to model for Macy's and JCPenney but high fashion will cut it, dye it, shave it, do whatever they want to your hair.
Okay I’m not sure you understand why cutting hair is such a big deal to Black girls with long hair 😅. The whole idea that Black girls can’t grow long hair is a myth, HOWEVER, Black hair takes the longest to grow and is also the hardest to grow and maintain. Partly because of the texture but also because there’s not much to go on with Black hair. It takes some girls YEARS to reach waist length hair. To cut that is to take away years of hard work and very careful haircare. Sometimes literally hours of daily haircare and maintenance.
I think he gets it. The whole thing is ANTM is KNOWN for drastic makeovers and tbh, at this point if you KNOW you don’t want any drastic change done to your hair you probably shouldn’t be signing up for the show. She knew anything was a possibility. In day to day life, I totally get freaking out about a drastic change with your hair... but when you sign up for any kind of show that involves a makeover you know you will have no say in... well, you put yourself in that situation. 🤷🏻♀️
Sevi Kom Trikru I get that and I agree; she knew what she was getting into. I was kind of explaining why she was as upset as she was. Most of the people who cry have hair that will grow with tons of abuse and no effort whatsoever. I was just clarifying that it makes more sense for Black girls with longer or natural hair to cry. I’m more or less saying just be a bit more sympathetic with her situation. She understood her hair might be cut, but that doesn’t stop her from being upset that it’s being cut.
a gay has no name it doesn't make more sense for a black girl to cry. Like none. It's ANTM, you accept all the sacrifices and you stop crying like a baby wether or not it took you all your life to get the hair you have. Because you know they are probably gonna cut it but you still decided to join the show. Them crying over it is really childish. I would understand if the hair ends up looking terrible but don't cry BEFORE.
I totally get why people are saying this girl shouldn’t cry makes sense. But I’ve noticed when I’ve watched America’s next top model, Tyra usually will give a black girl a weave before cutting a crazy amount of her hair off(with the Expection of the girl she made bald).
I understand her tears. I only hate that she was considering leaving when many other black women would kill to be in her spot. He was fine with it when she decided to do it. She still cried in the chair while it happened. I think it's just that she knew something like that could happen, especially when you come in with a more conventionally pretty look to begin with, and then wasn't going to go through with it.
WARNING, SPOILERS! Nyle won the season, he is deaf and I was hoping he would win the whole time and when I found out he won I yelled I was so happy completely forgetting it was 11:45 PM and my whole family was alseep!
Honestly, I understand why the one girl was so upset about having her hair shaved on one side. As a black woman myself I know how hard it is to grow your natural hair out, so I would also be very emotional about losing a patch out of my head. If you’re going to shave one patch you may as well be saying “shave the whole thing and start over.”
Rolanda Hutson I was seriously thinking this because with my friends who are black talk about how hard it is to grow out their hair. It takes years of being careful and not damaging your hair for it to get that long.....
That would be understandable if she didn’t know that major makeovers are part of the show. But the show has been on long enough to know and understand how things go down. She signed up knowing that this was a possibility. She isn’t the first girl to get her hair shaved on the show. Do I think they should have the freedom to decline it and ask for something less drastic? Yes. But that’s not how the show works and she knew that going in. She wasn’t blindsided.

Lmfao girl🤦🏾♀️ should’ve titled this video brad dies over male models for 20 minutes 😂😂
hartlei stansbury he was drooling so lit😂😂😂
no “Brad being extremely gay for 20 minutes”
10:42 if all of her hair is real, I completely understand why she’s so emotional about cutting it. Black ethnic hair is so difficult to manage and keep healthy. Constantly trying to wear your natural hair while feeling confident is almost impossible because of society norms. I feel for her.
it’s not all real
Society norms. I only hear that from people who are against them. I’m no longer sure that something like this even exist.
I totally thought this too and I’m as white as white gets
@@cocoxchocco what? Societal norms have always existed lol
LB you may have a point actually
But you aren’t a contestant. All the girls who signed up for that show knew the makeovers were going to happen. They shouldn’t have signed up if they weren’t ok with a haircut.
yesss when us black girls cut our hair it takes YEARS to grow back but for white girls it literally grows back in like a year
But the make over is part of every season and there are seasons were every change is dramatic. If you really want to win you have to be prepared for the change in your style.
You know what guys? I just realized I got catfished on tinder like 2 years ago by someone using pictures of Dustin McNeer(the guy with the short blonde hair) who I have never heard of before as I am from Germany 😂

okay so don't drag me but tbh i understand what that girl felt when she had to shave part of her hair. personally, my hair is my pride and joy and the only thing that brings me confidence, and if i had to just shave part of it off i would cry too because my hair took me YEARS to grow out.
That girl is going to have to grow her hair back for literal decades 🤦🏽♀️ respect the black womans hair mane.
I just hope she actually liked the way her hair looks and if not then she shouldn’t have her sights set on modeling😬
girl hair don’t take that damn long to grow 💀💀
I'm white and it took ten years to grow my hair out when I cut it so yeah it can take that long. I am super jealous of people who have fast growing hair. I think if she wants to win and thinks she can, cut the hair. If not... then leave. Don't let them peer pressure you -_-
@@miadenae8629 thank u i was thinking the same thing.
Oh! And now it's racism? That has NOTHING to do with the hair. If she's black or not doesn't mean that it will take long to grow her hair🤦🏼
“WHY IS HE SO HOOOT?!?!”
Literally my life.
This video is 10% Brad rolling his eyes at people crying, and 90% Brad asking, "WhY Is NiLe sO hOt?????"
i understand why the black girl was crying. hair is pretty much everything to us. and because of the many negative stereotypes of our hair we (most) want to retain length because that’s what people(esp our own men) see as beautiful.
"Hair is everything to us" thats pathetic
Cj.Draw.Z Art there’s no need to be rude. it’s pretty well known that hair in the black community is a large factor in deciding who’s “beautiful”. yes it is very unfortunate people make that decision on something so shallow but it’s frequent. maybe instead of being ignorant and close minded try understanding the culture of the communities around you.
@@beary523 for some people it is very important . lol you sound unsympathetic.

It's hard for girls to grow hair nicely that's her pride and I feel the same way
Madam squishest It sucks the guy got to keep his hair but the girl had to lose hers
Yassss same
@@DeathnoteBB Not that I always agree with Tyra but a girl with standard long hair doesn't always stand out just like a guy with short hair..
Shmaples Just because it’s not as visible to others doesn’t mean it’s easier to lose for her.
@Jean Smith
I definitely agree with you.
Hannah E not to be rude she knew what she signed up for💀
@@Des444Xo That doesn't she wouldn't have an emotional response.

I empathize with the girls who was crying about shaving the side of her head. It’s not like her hair was short or it was a weave , it was long and that was her real hair. And it’s not like the undercut made her look more “high fashion” if anything she looked the same

I understand completely why she doesn’t want to cut it and honestly wouldn’t blame someone for leaving over it.
holy shit, that mullet! i feel so bad for her lol

Kelsey M. PREACH 🙏 👐

NGL I was so RELIEVED they didn't make Thor cut his hair 😂

Honestly, I understand why the one girl was so upset about having her hair shaved on one side. As a black woman myself I know how hard it is to grow your natural hair out, so I would also be very emotional about losing a patch out of my head. If you’re going to shave one patch you may as well be saying “shave the whole thing and start over.”
Rolanda Hutson I was seriously thinking this because with my friends who are black talk about how hard it is to grow out their hair. It takes years of being careful and not damaging your hair for it to get that long.....
This!! I felt her pain. It took me about 5 years to grow my hair past my shoulders. Every time I see hair falling (the “dead” hair) I get sad lol
Yes! My thoughts exactly!!!
They don’t know the struggle that us black women go through to grow and maintain our hair😭😭 I woulda left if I had to shave it
That would be understandable if she didn’t know that major makeovers are part of the show.
