This is an all too common situation in our society. Step children living w/ 1 biological parent and 1 non biological parent are at a shockingly huge risk for abuse. They even chose to call him dad even though they were 17 and over when we met. Step parents are able to love stepkids like their own.... HOWEVER....the amount you hear about being horrific makes the thought of allowing someone into your kid's life terrifying. People need to stop dating ppl with kids if they can't love and care for that kid the way all kids need to be loved and cared for. There are good step parents. My Catholic faith includes an opposition to the death penalty and that to wish it on a person is a sin. In this case, I am a sinner. She needs to pay a penalty that is commensurate with this crime. Based on her character and lack of remorse, prison is not a sufficient penalty. This child's suffering is unimaginable and I personally do not believe this woman will feel any remorse in prison, just perhaps a sense of inconvenience. She needs to pay with her life. She will not suffer unduly during the process as that baby suffered leading up to her death.

This prosecutor was amazing. I don't know how she survived this case and this closing argument without falling apart. She is super strong, and you could see when she was getting emotional, but she held it together. And, I'm so glad Emani had someone stand up for her and be a voice for her and bring her justice. This is the first time I'm hearing about this case and I have no words to describe how horrific and unimaginable this torture was for this precious child. My heart and stomach could barely handle the details of all the suffering this baby girl went through. The only comfort that can be taken is in knowing this precious child is no longer in pain and suffering and is in the arms of our Lord Jesus where she is at peace and loved beyond any kind of love we can achieve in this life. We love you Emani, Thank you Jesus for wrapping her in your loving arms.

I support the death penalty, especially when it comes to the torturous death of children. As a society, we owe it to our children to seek the ultimate punishment.
Death sentenced prisoners enjoy much better protected living conditions and privileges over lifers for many years before execution. A life sentence would expose her to the general population where a more torturous existence would await her. I think life is likely to make her suffer more, forever.

This is an all too common situation in our society. Step children living w/ 1 biological parent and 1 non biological parent are at a shockingly huge risk for abuse. Add in biological children with 1 bio parent and 1 non bio parent in the same house the risk increases even more. This innocent child lived the Cinderella effect.
We've got to be more diligent at protecting our children. It's happening more and more that those in positions of protecting children aren't doing their jobs. DCFS need to be held accountable for letting our children down!

When it was time for us to separate the police was called because I couldn’t let go, he kicked, fought, to stay. Of course, when my husband and I met and married all our kids except my youngest and his youngest were adults, and those 2 were nearly adults (all are grown and over 21 now). I had several stepfathers, and only one of them was worth anything. I adore my stepkids, and they will tell you they love me. My husband adores his stepkids, and my kids love him very much. They even chose to call him dad even though they were 17 and over when we met.
Step parents are able to love stepkids like their own.... HOWEVER....the amount you hear about being horrific makes the thought of allowing someone into your kid's life terrifying. People need to stop dating ppl with kids if they can't love and care for that kid the way all kids need to be loved and cared for. There are good step parents. The problems are being able to identify the bad people before it's too late AND the POS parents who choose a spouse over their kids.

My Catholic faith includes an opposition to the death penalty and that to wish it on a person is a sin. In this case, I am a sinner. She needs to pay a penalty that is commensurate with this crime. Based on her character and lack of remorse, prison is not a sufficient penalty. This child's suffering is unimaginable and I personally do not believe this woman will feel any remorse in prison, just perhaps a sense of inconvenience. She needs to pay with her life. She will not suffer unduly during the process as that baby suffered leading up to her death.
Where did this evil woman come from? How was she created? Makes no sense. She could've asked her husband to give the child to the grandma if she couldn't stand her, but to treat a soul worse than anything one can imagine is unbelievable.

China Lane I believe she thought the jury couldn't possibly find her guilty if she didn't say anything....she thought that the prosecution could never prove anything if she didn't present her side. The trial needed to happen, I thought the State did a great job defending Emani. Her name was worth the money spent, and seeing this evil stepmother's face, surprised as all heck at the verdict!
This prosecutor was amazing. I don't know how she survived this case and this closing argument without falling apart. She is super strong, and you could see when she was getting emotional, but she held it together. And, I'm so glad Emani had someone stand up for her and be a voice for her and bring her justice. This is the first time I'm hearing about this case and I have no words to describe how horrific and unimaginable this torture was for this precious child. My heart and stomach could barely handle the details of all the suffering this baby girl went through. The only comfort that can be taken is in knowing this precious child is no longer in pain and suffering and is in the arms of our Lord Jesus where she is at peace and loved beyond any kind of love we can achieve in this life. We love you Emani, Thank you Jesus for wrapping her in your loving arms.
