Mage builds have gone downhill in this game. Fromsoft prefer users to go Faith or Blood.

faith is better, the most op sorcery in the dlc uses 24 faith
Sorcery easily out dps faith, let's stop downplaying. Your most basic glintstone projectile can be buffed and hard to deal with... for bosses you have a great setup using terra magical.. stop downplaying, you have way more viable options than faith users and not to mention some of the most op int weapons in the game

I always put Golden Vow AOW on a 1.5lb dagger. It opens up a spell slot.
I saw you using Aspect of the Crucible: Tail in the beginning of the video, but you didn't mention any of the crucible spells later on. Do you think any of them are worthwhile? I like Aspect of the Crucible: Horn for knocking NPC types up in the air, but I otherwise find them pretty underwhelming. I'd really like to find a way to make them good, as I love cosplaying a crucible knight.
Tail can work, as 3 Tail Slaps when charged can Guard Break any DLC boss, but I also find it more dangerous to use, because it's somewhat slow!
The wide range is great when charged, though.
I have to ask why did you start as astrologer for a faith caster instead of prophet or anything else? wouldn’t it benefit you to have as little int as possible?

Primal Glintstone Blade works on incantations, giving a good talisman option.
Even with all the new fancy incantations. When it comes down to it, I just go back to good old Lightning Spear for my general use. The Knight's Lightning Spear is for special occasions.
A lot of early/starter spells are amusingly enough that good!
I want to see what kind of paladin you make. I imagine it somewhere between your tank build and this build.
Great build as always. I would love to see a build for higher than 150 level....Always 150. Why not try making a level 300 build and see what you can do. There are so many of us at that level that started playing at launch. I can of course come up with my own but applying your talents to a level 300 or so would be great to see.

I also like to combine this build with the aberrant and thorn sorceries and alberich set and staff of the guilty x 2, i know they are better with arcane scaling staves for the bleeding, with roleplay wise i prefer to use them with faith, also for incantantions synergy
There's a new Sorcery at least that does deal amazing damage and feels very thorn like in the DLC!
@@cRPGBro yes its also boosted by alberich's set and staff, and people are using it with the new arcane scaling staff to insta bleed to end the final boss, i dont even bother using the spell with that staff because i know the staff its going to get nerfed like they did with albinauric staff

Since it is a faith build prophet is probably the best, but I can really recommend just playing the game without getting gear from other people because getting all the equipment is just as much or maybe even more fun than playing the main story

Ancient dragon lightning strike is the best against immobile big targets tho
Holy. I didn;t know that Scarlet Aeonia procs scarlet rot always. Time to swap out Rotten Breath for that. I've been using Rot Breath on many bossess but it's not always possible even with summons distracting the boss and it usually took at least two full casts from that to infect the enemy = loads of FP.
I discovered Scarlet Aeonia thanks to this vid. It is SO clutch. Helped me survive the first mini boss of the dlc when I only had a few shadow tree blessings.
awsome vid! How are you taking so little damage per hit from the bosses? I have endure equipped (i'm using heavy affinity, i dont see the affinity you're using) but even when i use it, i still get hit for 30-40% of my HP from bosses. What am i doing wrong? can you share ur buff list before fighting radahn in the dlc?

Melee builds or even sorcery are much easier starting out but pure faith is tons of fun.

Well, Miséricorde has higher Crit damage, and you can make it Sacred when combined with Endure AoW + Sanctified Whetblade.

Wait - does black flame and golden vow not work together?
They work, what doesn't is Black Flame + Crab or the Fortification spells.
Why not use flame grant me strenght to increase flame damage which would buff the talons?
It's a trade-off between more damage vs less damage taken.
I prefer the benefit of Boiled Crab/Black Flame's Protection for less damage taken, which really helps you facetank with Bloodflame Talon and other spells.
They also have 2x the duration of FGMS, which is only 30s.
@cRPGBro ok im using Moores armour right now with the blood mask, blood talisman with all the buffs you had. And I'm only at like 60-70% resistance and Melania is melting my health
Will this also work in New game +7 territory where everything is hitting like a freight train?
if youre using mimic tear and manage your buffs like always i imagine it would work. every other build has to deal with the same limitations of ng+ buffs to the enemy. The good thing is that the percentage based stuff like bleed and dots (blackflame, black blade) get better with the inflated hp pools.

the lower version of oh, flame does a little less damage than bloodflame and its faster
Yep, I cover Catch Flame too, despite being a starter spell it's really good, and amusingly enough STILL better than most DLC ones.
If you mean uncharged O Flame, it's great too, but charging it is very fast.

Nope, all this build can be done with a common non magic build with better stagger, mobility n dmg or hybrid build fai/str with same result but less ranged attacks more melee more stagger and more dmg.
You could also go with a full 77-80 faith investment, equip Alex shard, fire scorpion and godfrey icon or the two handed talisman and get more damage out of flameart scaling stuff like Fireknight GS. Far less effort.
I enjoy faith caster builds a lot but feel like if i wasnt using my mimic id be toast. The damage is still great. I have nothing against mimic usage tho but yea..
I respect the video creator's intent very much but i think if you want to go full faith caster youre going to have unique struggles while also doing great where lots of people suffer. Its not an easy path. My own build is roughly 160, I obliterated the hippo at Shadow Keep and every ghostflame dragon I battled was 2-3 shot with lightning but you have to prep/change your load out a lot. I don't mind this tho. I could never go with the low endurance this guy does but to each his own. He's clearly better than I am. I'll go into my own build in a bit.
IN NO WAY DO I THINK IM AN EXPERT OR GOOD AT THIS GAME: this is just what I personally do so do not take it as gospel.
Basically what I do is either 155-160 because I don't feel good unless my mind is at least 30. 30 is a nice number if you allocate half your flasks IMO which you should do anyway. I use the erdfree favor +2 because it gets me roughly 3 levels worth of vigor and stamina. I try to reach 78 or 80 faith because the gains from 70-80 are higher than what you get from 60 to 70 in scaling with the best seal. I try to aim for a vigor level that would be equal to 60 without the erdfree favor+2 so that puts me around 54/55. Flock canvas is debatable, I never could figure out how the exact math worked but I read somewhere all the percentage buffs stack together so if you have a high amount of faith its not bad. The bonus is 8% I think?
Godfrey Icon is a must IMO plus i love charging spells anyway. Random scorpion charm for whatever damage type you're relying on is good too but its a choice between that or something more defensive. Its 10% more damage along with your flock canvas talisman (8%) and other buffs. I feel like to get the best compared to an easier melee setup is to go all out stacking these talismans and MAKING sure to use your appropriate flask buff for bosses.
Before the last patch I'd highly recommend a sidearm like the smithscript spear but FS decided it should be trash so banished knight halberd is great since it gets B/B in flameart and sacred. You get a free +8 one from the upset dad at the shack in liurnia. I don't think stuff like Fireknight GS or BB are good for pure faith builds unless you build around them. You ALWAYS want Alex's shard, scorpion charm and maybe the two handed weapon talisman if you're not just spamming ash of war. Your talisman slots are very contested. Also if I did a build around these weapons id maybe go 70ish faith not 80. Perhaps even 60. I haven't looked at how the Fireknight GS scales with flameart in awhile.
The key with weapons in a full faith caster build is something you can keep distance with, that has low requirements ,scales good. and able to kill weaker stuff with so you're not spamming lightning spear at small fry. Stuff like BB are REALLY good but I feel like they defeat the purpose of a faith caster. At least the Fireknight GS is fun to use outside of the skill you give it, BB is taker's flame spam and I got bored with that. I did backhand blades for a while due to the B scaling in flameart but I prefer the poke of BKH.
ONe last thing: experiment with diff. spells for different encounters/areas. A lot of the stuff people say is garbage has very nice niche uses. Fire of the fel god was great on Malenia and the one annoying npc in Ensis castle (dlc).

Why not? What problems are you having? I don't see why it wouldn't work for this particular build when other builds have to deal with increased damage, enemy defenses etc. Is your problem being one shot? IMO I wouldn't rock with low stam like this guy does but he's no doubt better at the game than me so i dunno what to tell you.

@@sirsamnaske Im not at that cycle yet but have you tried black flame spells or black blade? I believe they do percentage damage which is great for beefy targets. If you have the video creator's arcane investment (I don't) you could try a temporary bleed setup. Put on the white mask and lord of blood talisman then use the bleed incantations. I dunno how effective scarlet rot would be but you could try it as well. Bleed builds in general are regarded as the best for ng+ cycles due to the percentage damage they do (if bleed can be applied). Otherwise id keep trying the destined death/dot stuff like black flame.
You didn't say if you used mimic or not so im going to assume yes (no shame there, I think you kinda need it for builds like this)

they buffed faith but all the int based DLC sorceries are trash. the balancing is also horrendous now for PVP, i'm getting cut down by super fast ashes of war.
try vortex of putrsecence with double prince of death staves for int setups. it comes out super fast and is quite hard to dodge all around you, destroys backhand blade abusers.
