- Wessa Miller gave Dale Earnhardt a lucky penny in 1998 just before the Daytona 500. He glued the penny to the dash of his racecar and won the race. In 2004 Wessa and her family visited the RCR Racing Museum in Welcome, NC where Dale Earnhardt's winning racecar and the penny from the 1998 Daytona 500 win are on permanent display.

Dale Sr refused to get in that race car until that penny was glued to the dash. I worked at DIS 1996-2006 as part of the security/safety teams. I clearly remember that day quite well.

I met Dale in 1994 & wished him good luck on his 7th championship and then later on remember going to Daytona USA and seeing this car on display, with that infamous penny still glued on.
Michael Murray, that penny is still on that dash today.

N Rood, I worked at DIS 1996-2006 as part of the security/safety teams. I spoke with Dale Sr many times. He usually had one word answers when he was asked a question. Wessa Miller made Dale Sr a big softie mush-bucket. He loved her instantly.
Wish he was still with us…
Dale Sr insisted that she was with him in the winner's circle after the race. Later he gifted Wessa's family a brand new Chevy van fully equipped for Wessa's needs.

Justin Class of 2017, Teresa Earnhardt damn sure isn't sweet. She's the greedy witch that flushed DEI down the crapper. She won't even allow any of the Earnhardt family members to visit Dale Sr's grave, the property, or the DEI museum.
