    awesome vid! totally on board with you with your claim that phobos are pretty poorly designed. i just don't understand when people say they don't feel like they have many tricks or gotchas and are straightforward, simply because there are so many paragraphs of interactions between special abilities that they have between their three categories of operatives, their individual abilities, their ploys, their equipment, and the operatives within and between three different types. a player should only get gotcha'd in the instance that their opponent has either deliberately or accidentally forgot to mention a specific rule or interaction, or if you as their opponent simply weren't paying enough attention during their explanation. GlassHalfDead's recent video on gotchas is honestly so fantastic for this. with phobos though? good luck. explaining what Vanguard does even in its verbatim entirely will ever be extremely surface level in regards to explaining what the team is capable of, when you consider the list of things i mentioned before that vanguard can interact with. the vet guard have many outdated design choices too, but in my opinion only one potentially really feelsbad gotcha, which again can be easily avoided through brief explanation: that demo mine breaks the game in fairly egregious ways that people do not expect, with it going through heavy and having 3" blast, and that instance of rule-breaking is relatively easy to avoid and not have to suffer from once understood, which is not difficult if explained before the game, which again is not difficult because its two, maybe three clauses long (it interacts with into the breach and movemovemove in a very self explanatory way, so that could also count as a clause). the phobos break too many rules and at too inconsistent times to make for fun experience. sure, vetguard have pretty stupidly reliable shooting, but that's just something you have to expect them to do and play around it. it's very consistent and telegraphed from the strat ploy phase: you know the vetguard player will be trying to shoot more than melee in the turn they play take aim, and will consistently, with every shoot action, be rerolling 1s. however, phobos can pull shit out that is always a hundred times worse and more intangible than simply getting to reroll 1s, and they can do different shit with each different activation. having your abilities be somewhat telegraphed is not flawed design; if anything it can make playing for both players and watching for spectators more enjoyable, because they don't have to read the phobos rules a hundred times over to understand their interactions. terrible design indeed imo, straightforwardness is far from a flaw when talking about a team's design, and the phobos fundamentally fail at being, ya know, not convulated as hell at every single turn(ing point). you explained these design issues far more coherently with harlequins lol, but same issues imo

      @disregardingdice7524  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Yeah pretty much agree with all that if there were maybe a dozen Killteams maaaaybe Phobos would be ok. But there are over 30 one team just shouldn’t have that much to remember.

  • @slemph2214
    @slemph2214 Před 5 měsíci +1

    I agree with nearly everything, altough I'd put Hive Fleet "way" higher than D, something like low B or high C. Genestealers are hella strong and warriors can do some great work. They aren't strong, but one of the strongest compendium teams. At least in my experience.
    Hunter Clade I agree with what you said, as in A-B Tier, altough I'd probably end up putting them in A.
    Void-Dancers I'd put in atleast B Tier. They are amazing and especially on BD they are very, very strong. Not top tier, but not C imo.
    Farstalkers, again, I agree with B-C Tier, but I'd end up putting 'em in C instead of B. But yea, if your opponent doesn't know shit about your team, they can be neat.
    In a tournament setting, I'd put hierotek slightly higher, simply for the reason that they have a couple of matchups where the other team will just... not be able to kill anything at all.
    But that's just nitpicking everything. Overall, this is an amazing killteam and I agree with nearly everything completely, except those few little things. You definitely got me as a new sub :)

    I'll have to respectfully disagree on your Tyranid ranking. 10 man Genestealers can dominate objective play with their Lurking Horror ability (when concealed, they always have concealed, no matter what rules say otherwise). They also get a free dash every time they're activated. I haven't really made a way for to prevent Warriors from being shot off the board though. So it all depends on what you bring, I guess. 🙂

    • @disregardingdice7524
      @disregardingdice7524  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Yeah I think they are a playable team and I could be wrong. but I would try them into compendium demons, orks, exaction blooded and felgore. Those teams have a lot of tools to deal with due to those bad match ups and having to play really careful with mostly melee and rely on safe maps to advance without dying secures them a place in D for me. But if we see a few more good placings outside the crazy safe maps that are LVO I’ll be updating my thoughts around them.
      Hope you enjoyed the video thanks for sharing your thoughts.

    I don’t get why Death Guard are so low in all rankings. I’m playing against them with my friend and I’m getting smashed almost all the time. Maybe we play too open maps, but Disgustly resilience I OP in my opinion and e.x. Momma fox has a big problem to do any damage to them

    • @disregardingdice7524
      @disregardingdice7524  Před 5 měsíci

      If I could ask what team are you playing? There are a few teams that can just chew through death guard and that is what keeps them so low.

      @@disregardingdice7524 Kommandoz, Talons and Fellgors. With Fellgors 2 battles only in ITD, 1 win, one lose. With Talons open map 1 win 1 lose as well. With Kommandoz 3 or 4 loses, all on open maps. But I think that we play wit to few heavy terrains, because at the first rund he could climb on vantage point and I had no heavy to cover next to resp at all, so he could kill my Nob and Rokkit in first rund.

      @@damiankirstein3311 yeah that does sound quite light on terrain. i have two battle reports on the channel you might wanna reference for how those boards are set up and how much heavy there is.
      between rokit, snipa and squig you should be able to pass thru quite a lot of damage. but that does require them not dying due to no cover on the board TP 1

    I was here for this until the best compendium team the Custodes was put below daemons. D tier should be Custodes, Daemons, Death Guard (Death Guard should not be in fun tier), Hive Fleet. Also, Void Dancers in C tier? Nah, more like A tier.

    • @disregardingdice7524
      @disregardingdice7524  Před 6 měsíci +1

      interesting ideas, ya could be right. from my perspective Demons did end up at worlds and had a pretty good record into the rest of the field, Custodes cannot get wins on open boards so with the assumption of alternating open and ITD they could not take the event very often.
      Void dancers are quite beatable as soon as you understand their rules better than the person playing them, like i mentioned in the video the way they must win is so narrow it is easy to disrupt once you understand it.
      and also I have never played a competitive death guard match, I could see them above fun for sure.
      Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

    • @ChaseTheChamp11
      @ChaseTheChamp11 Před 6 měsíci

      @@disregardingdice7524 That was my issue. Custodes are gods on ITD, but mid on open. So I get the logic. Just going to agree to disagree on Void Dancers (especially on the new terrain). For Death Guard it all comes down to is your opponent making their 5+ DR saves. Nuts a team can literally avoid all damage if they roll well enough.

    • @disregardingdice7524
      @disregardingdice7524  Před 5 měsíci

      I play “fun” teams in my narrative games and etc I think you don’t need to win to have fun playing killteam. So the title fun is to let players know that just fielding the team can be fun. But they will struggle to win.
