You've invented interdimensional cable irl.
This is why framing, color correction, and acting are so important, no matter how good a story is
You forget the most important, direction
@@paulmccartney3959 Direction is what decides framing, color, acting, etc
“Just because you killed Jesse James, don't make you Jesse James.”
Yeah most of these actors were in Narcos and the performances were great in that show. Shows how important good direction is.
@@ciello___8307 If you are going to just mention those departments as individual then I assume you are speaking about the people in charge of those departments and not the people who is making the decisions especially when sound and music which are also one of the heavyweights of filmmaking are not even mentioned
Let's take away framing and color correction and just say "this is why acting is so important no matter how good a story is", the director CAN act in his own film but usually is not like that, and yes, the director has to direct (duh) the actors but depending on the movie having a good or a bad actor makes the difference, so stop being a smartass

It's so hilarious how accurate this is
It looks more of a comparison between the graphics of gta sa and gta v
can't be more accurate than that
It really makes you appreciate the cinematographer even more after you realise how much effort they put into the scene, Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul will always be the best.
Idk Cuentale a Saul trumps both of those..
its insane how many invisible things go into making a great show. you dont 'see' it when its there but you definitely notice it when it's not
When i punches jesse it looks like hes hitting him but backwards
yep, vince and his team did such good work. Some of the shot composition, the lighting is really excellent for a TV show.
And the casting! The Saul scenes are absolutely nothing without that bravado.

Chad Metastasis strike yet again.
I like how Walter Blanco throws the "meth" away from himself instead of directly at his feet.
Yeah that always seemed cartoonish and stupid to me, that he just throws it at his feet.
If he were to throw it at the wall, and it doesn't incapacitate tuco and the boyz, he probably wouldn't be able to just grab the bag of fulminated mercury. Also, it was an awesome scene.
@@LeonLindProductions idk about 'cartoonish', It seems perfectly fine to me. To me it just looks like he's throwing it at the ground, not directly at his feet. I guess realism doesn't really matter as much to me as other aspects of filmmaking, so that scene doesn't really bother me at all. But I do get why people would want a show like BB to be as realistic as possible, though
As a spanish speaking person I must say that the breaking bad script is so good that even when it's translated to another language, localized to fit the culture, shot with a lower budget with poorer cinematography and with telenovela caliber acting it still remains 60% watchable... not that I will, but I could if I had to.
Metastasis looks like it was made by students as a school project and it's still good because the script works
Metastasis actually had a way *higher* budget
I think it isn't "telenovela" in english. As far as i know "novela" translates to "soap opera", so "telenovela" should be something else

The Metastasis actor playing Tuco is actually a very decent Mexican actor and I think his take on a narco is very well done. Altho it's not Tuco, it is a very real kind of Mexican narco who is likable to the community altho killer and insane... You can kind of understand why narco culture is appealing to young people in small towns with this kind of character. Tuco, on the other hand, is a tyrant.
He WAS a narco in Narcos as well haha he was Gilberto Rodriguez, and he is a very good actor
Kind of like Lalo
TIGHT TIGHT TIGHT TIGHT! YEAH!
Yep. His name is Demián Alcázar, an excellent and well respected actor in Mexico. I'd recommend watching one of his movies "El Infierno", anyone who liked BB would definitely love that movie too. its also very deep, quite funny and raw as hell.
Perhaps cartels living in America behave more ruthlessly than those living in Mexico
Doesn’t mean they’re “better people” per se but perhaps the strategy is different than when you’re trying to woo Mexican locals as opposed to scaring off other gangs and competitors
7:04 I think this comparison highlights the biggest flaw with Metastasis. Metastasis actually shows more, it shows Jesse bleeding and being injured however, whether its due to budget or bad special effects artists, the "injuries" Jesse has are visibly... nothing. He's bleeding, but considering how much Hank was beating the shit out of him, he looks fine, which ends up taking us out of the scene as we're shown how fake it is.
Whereas in the original, we actually don't Jesse's injuries at all. The scene is centered on Hank, so that's all we see. Even when Jesse is in frame, the camera is focused on Hank's bloody hand. Despite it showing less, it feels more brutal.
Henry also asks his questions and then starts beating up Jose, unlike Hank screaming out the questions as he's punching Jesse's face in. This is a relatively minor change but it slightly recontextualizes the scene to Henry making the conscious decision to beat him up without giving him the chance to talk rather than getting carried away in rage like with Hank. Also him holding his face in shame is just cheesy and unsubtle compared to the more grounded reaction of Hank seemingly nonverbally in denial over what he'd just done and unsure what to do.
I do like how they rewrote the scene so that Henry gets there at the same time as Jose though, it makes him a little less dumb than Jesse already at the door and not locking it when he sees a cop approaching rapidly with murderous intent plainly on his face for 10 seconds.

The guy that performs Tuco in Metástasis is actually a good actor, he did a great job in Narcos as Gilberto Rodríguez, the boss of the Cali's Cartel. Although he is mexican, not colombian.
There are a lot of Narcos actors in Metastasis, and it's hilarious to see how much worse their acting is here. Jesse is Fabio Ochoa in the first season, Hank is Orlando Henao from North Valley. Tuco is Gilberto from Cali. How is it possible that they all are so much worse here lol. Idk if it's the script, direction, or if they literally just did 1 take.
Gilberto has a Tuco moment in Narcos after Pablo bombs his daughter's wedding, and his acting there was incredible. Yet when he's literally Tuco he acts like a goofball at the carnival lol.

I love the goofy sound effects in Metastasis. Hank sounds like he’s punching the open half of a grapefruit.
Kid: "MOM! I want to see Breaking bad!"
Mom: "We have Breaking Bad at home..."
Mom: "Tenemos Breaking Bad en casa..."
This comparison is so important for filmmaking knowledge. The scene where Hank beats Jesse has really great emotional resonance but I had no idea why until now. *Lighting* the dark shadows obscures Jesse's face and the scene which makes your brain fill in the finer details while creating a dramatic set piece. Metastasis is done in broad daylight well lit which shows the worst of the effects. If you're doing effects and they look bad obscure as much as you can without removing, it's one of the many reasons metastasis fails.
Your flag 🤢🤮
🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓
You aren't wrong about the effects, but I actually feel the overall scene felt more realistic in metastasis (a bloody rare occurrence - meta being superior) but just personally I always felt it was off putting the way Jesse just sorta, stands there, when Hank is CLEARLY striding at him with violent intent.
The way meta Jesse can basically tell straight away, going on his body language, hands up, backing away AS he defends himself verbally, it did feel like a more realistic build-up to the beating.
You are right about the beating itself being poorly done though. From what I've seen, meta Hank is one of the better actors in this version so that probably helped too
2:22 Dude, is that the goddamn 2004 Howard Dean scream!?
So glad I'm not the only one who noticed XD
I read this and was reminded of that one scene in BCS where Saul punches through a wall to get something and they use that one stock sound effect that sounds like you punched a hole through someone.
Spanish Saul looks a bit fruity.

I actually like Colombian Tuco's different reaction to the "This is not meth" stunt. The original Tuco seems genuinely shocked but Colombian Tuco just laughs it off like this is a normal occurrence.
Colombian Tuco is more of a Tuco than classic Tuco in this scene lmao
metastasis still managed to get sexier skyler tho
Hes mexican tuco
I totally hear you. I think the Metástasis portrayal of Tuco has its merits, but I prefer OG Tuco's reaction. There's a difference between a character being unhinged and being insane, and I think the original unhinged portrayal of Tuco is more nuanced and actually even *less* predictable than a purely insane portrayal. And when I think about it, my favorite quality of Tuco's is his unpredictability.
It's also such a dramatic and sudden shift in the power dynamic of the scene that it feels better that Tuco is suddenly shocked and compliant. It feels like the redone scene takes the wind out of Walt's trick, which I think is major loss
On the final scene in the video, BB kept the shots wide with few cuts to deliberately emphasize the physical and allegorically emotional distance between Walt and Skyler, and takes time to emphasize Skyler chewing on Walt's food for thought before dropping the IFT, and Bryan Cranston's acting convey both Walt's shock at the revelation and his recontextuaizing it with his line about honesty. Meanwhile on Metastasis, the shots are primarily close ups that cut between Walter and Cielo so frequently that we can't connect with either of their reactions, while the relatively short pause before Cielo drops the IFT and the equally short pause between said drop and her exit paint her merely as petty. And Blanco's reaction looks like the hero from a Saturday morning cartoon got duped by the villain in the most formulaic manner possible.
But I'm just happy Dean Norris follows through on his punches.
Edit: Who's playing MS Tuco, a squirrel?
Excuse me when Walter asked Tuco for payment upfront Tuco would've never said "sure", he'd feel defeated and give the money but not announcing that he will. It is not in his character.
@@elmitrocrack I mean it is a copy, and they are making everything else the same, so why wouldn't his character be the same

The scene with Saul Bueno and "Hank" beating up "Jesse" were the first scenes I've seen from Metastasis that didn't make me think they were deliberately trying to screw up.
it is fucking amazing what pacing and shot composition can do for a scene
8:21 that punch was so hard
,it reverted his fist back to it's original position, faster than the human eye could register, breaking(bad) the sound barrier
I think the problems with metastasis is how bad the camera moves every single time one character talks forgetting the scenario
This is Breaking Bad that you get out of a dollar store
That punch that opened the door was a nice touch
The ending really shows the difference when skyler tells Walt about ted you can see the pain in his eyes like his heart has been ripped out amazing acting then you get to Metastasis and he looks confused rather than upset like someone told him it wasn’t Tuesday today it was Wednesday there’s a clear cut between the 2

I like how Tuco's hideout is more organically incorporated into the city/neighborhood - seems more realistic. In BB Tuco's hideout being a relatively high-tech bunker isolated from the rest of the city always seemed somewhat unrealistic/implausible to me - wouldn't that make it easier for cops to monitor criminal activity? Whereas in Metastatis the hideout is organically incorporated into a high population slum which seems closer to reality... (then again what do I know.... 🤷♂)
BB Tuco's hideout IS in the slums of Albuquerque and regular neighborhood. And no, in US it's much harder to hide your crime in middle class neighborhood. In the Ghetto, police don't go there.

For all the negatives on Metástasis, i actually like some stuff in those scenes. This colombian Tuco actually has a cool design; i like how the colombian Hank has a more passive aggressive interaction with Saul Bueno, even taking a photo with him, XD; the colombian Hank and Jesse scene has some bad sound effects, but i like how he looks so remorseful after beating him up; I'm kinda divided between the 'i fucked ted' scenes, Anna Gunn's delivery was more subtle and matter-of-fact, with a type of revengeful anger in her eyes, but the Cielo Branco's delivery seemed more build up because of the different dialogue but generally it was more melodramatic.
Not gonna lie, I love the Metastasis Saul.
I give Metastasis for Throwing fake meth scene because walt didnt throwing it at the wall in Breaking Bad Walt couldnt survive explosion that close(epic english)
People give really bad credit to metastasis, they did an amazing adaption for a different audience, location and context. My parents do not speak English and I’m glad they managed to enjoy the breaking bad experience in their in their own way. Obviously budget and production differs a lot.
Time and budget were the main reasons Metastasis differed so hard in quality to Breaking Bad, but when taking that into consideration, Metastasis is a pretty damn fun watch by itself, and there are some truly good performances there all things considered. I've watched Metastasis once, and Breaking Bad 3 times, and I think Metastasis is way better than people give it credit for. Of course it looks super silly when compared to the original, but again: the difference in time, budget and focus (soap opera vs actual dramatic series) explains this.
For me, the highlights in Metastasis were the actors for Saúl Bueno, Walter Jr, Tuco and José Miguel Rosas (Jesse Pinkman). Seriously, Tuco is a delight to watch in Metástasis once you watch him from the start to the end, not some isolated scenes that lack the context of build up to him. And José Miguel Rosas is AMAZING, they literally couldn't have found a better version of a colombian Jesse Pinkman. His acting was superb.
Honestly, the only actor I felt was completely miscast in Metástasis was, sadly, Walter Blanco's actor. Dude just couldn't deliver, and I wasn't even expecting him to come anywhere close to Bryan Cranston, I just wanted him to be believable... and he failed at it. Everyone else acted better than him, lol.
If only there were others, less inferior methods to localise the show... You know, like dubbing or subtitles? Less effort and no need to endure terrible adaptations. This is how I watched BB 10 years ago when I hadn't spoken English yet.
That's because this was done purposefully in telenovela format to reach the telenovela audience, which is BIG in Latin America, especially in Colombia and Mexico. The majority of people that watch telenovelas in these countries literally won't watch anything else. For everyone else, there's Breaking Bad with dubs and subtitles. :)

The scene where Hank beats up Jesse really highlights how good of an actor Dean Norris is.
Metastasis is a more faithful adaptation than most book to movie adaptations 😂
Honestly Metástasis looks like a lot of fun, like it definitely feels like more of an easy watch and something I could enjoy after a long day as opposed to Breaking Bad which ngl feels like it requires a lot more investment
Also, I honestly like what they did to some of the characters. They're definitely adaptations, but their styles and attitudes are vastly different in ways that are pretty interesting to see. I particularly like Metástasis's Jesse, he definitely feels like he fits the part visually speaking more than Aaron Paul
For those who want to know:
"This is not meth" - Breaking Bad: S1E6
Saul makes fun of Hank - Breaking Bad: S2E8
Hank beats Jesse - Breaking Bad: S3E7
"I slept with Ted" - Breaking Bad: S3E3
considering the budget and expertise of the people involved in Mestatasys, they did a pretty good job on being faithful to the source material.

5:50 This part is actually pretty good... for the standards of Metastásis.
Saul bueno is one of the best parts
that's too much praise this kinda brakes saul charecter, like it doesn't make him seem like a fast talking sly but smart lawyer, when in BB saul went to ask hank, he didn't start by calling him gay first and throw a few insults, he starts by asking them in a casual way about what they are talking about, to which hank deflects by insulting him and so saul manages to flip the insult on hank and double down, showing him that he's not an asshole but he's able to talk the talk.
Methastasis saul seems like just an asshole who can't talk to save his own life.
I think this shows how good Raymond's acting was that small pause while he's talking before the line "beat THE PISS out of your mule boy!" really sells how unhinged he is
