    Jonathan, Viktor Orban just introduced the "Entrance card" for Russians and Byelorussians, making them possible to enter Hungary without any security checking. In Hungary, experts warn about the danger for other EU and NATO countries, because these Russians will be able to travel further, once they have entered one EU and NATO country.

    I am actually going to translate that for my people. I think it is crucial to understand what Yevhen has to say. To understand Ukraine and it's struggle is needed for understand the cruciality of an ongoing support the transformation of Ukraine into a democratic member and partner for the free world, that is the intention of the organisation, Mr Hilbovytsky stands for. Ukraine has been an unkown country to many until 2022. That's why Putin could just take 20% of it in 2014 so easily and why my people still not trust Ukraine too much. Thank you.

    That was so interesting when Mr Hlibovytsky poses the question whether the Ukrainian model of government is a feature or a bug of government. But then even more fascinating was when he said if this is the way that the Ukrainian government works and it's successful then if it "melds" with Europe it could be -as he put it - "crushed" by trying to conform to the European model. It's just so unique and it would be nice if that was brought into the consciousness of the world so it could be emulated, particularly by strong democracies. Really really interesting and could be the topic for a whole long show -or panel, even!

    Such a fascinating guest & discussion! It's not entirely accurate that none of us from the West had any conception of Ukraine as a cultural grouping or even political entity. Hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian immigrants settled throughout Canada, United States, and South America, and they made sure we knew Ukrainians were distinct, and Ukrainian statehood was the ultimate goal.

    Thank you! I have been craving an explanation like this. Are any western leaders utilizing Yevhen’s deep knowledge and understanding? Jonathan’s followers, write to your leaders! Especially Americans need to expand their knowledge to understand that Russia will grow its army by zombie absorption of new territories. Live free or die is the motto of the American state New Hampshire. Why can’t Americans understand that Ukrainians feel the same, and the west must take our stand here and now?

    This proverbial Ukrainian tradition of the horizontal communication and cooperation was mentioned by written sources since the 6th century AD and is named tolóka, which means a free joint work. When all neighbours build a new house for someone, for example. Or an army of drones for ZSU, over ninety percents of which are provided by Ukrainian people, not by government.

    3:00 that's actually a mistake, because the Baltic countries were part of Russian Empire, too. With the Baltic countries, it's more because Lithuania was a large medieval duchy/kingdom. Plus the nations have vastly different, Northern nature-oriented cultures, historic ties with Scandinavia and are neither Slavic-speaking nor Orthodox.

    2:15 Ukraine was not recognized as an independent nation only by few particular countries, namely Britain and France, forming during the WWI an alliance with Muscovy known as the Triple Entente, joined then by the USA. While Ukraine was an ally of Germany, Austria, Turkey and Bulgaria forming so called Quadruple Alliance, which situation explains why the brain of this particular British student struggled against the idea of Ukraine so much.

    Impressive bot machine at work. Shame is due to the impressive interview and conversation that these two have just had. Yevhen's loyalties are clear but his historical prescription for Russia to have given up their nuclear weapons after the Soviet breakup leads me to believe there is something fishy in his pocket. If turning Russia into another Great Britain sounds like a great idea to you, then I suppose it makes sense. But for the electorate in Russia, who have made their will known since the 90's, opening their society up to the "west" has not worked out in the fairy tale fashion that we advertise and , without nukes, we see what happens to nations that take us up on our grand bargain. Let Russia be Russia !!! Having a contrarian in the family makes for a better dinner conversation. Maybe, one day, they will again rise up and begin smashing through borders, taking lands through sheer force. But that ain't what's happening now. If we might take a moment to pause and hold back on our animal instinct to kill before thinking things through, we might be able to hear the actual request that has enervated this whole disaster....That Ukraine not join NATO. ...Is it too much to ask for: that a major bordering country from which you have been invaded from for centuries, NOT become allied with the most powerful military defense pact ever created and who has shown an eagerness to deploy forward bases as soon as any one new nation is enjoined. There was a tolerance for Ukrainian membership in the EU dating from 2014. Though it was never officially granted, perhaps it could be a chip in the peace talks that must eventually happen. Let's bring something to the table besides a tank.

    • @ViJuDe-kb7uv
      @ViJuDe-kb7uv Před měsícem

      Russia does not fear NATO attack. It is evident in the fact that Sweden and Finland joined NATO, and that is half of the border that russia and Ukraine has, and there was very little resistance from russia on that. putin knows that NATO is a DEFENCIVE alliance and war in Ukraine was never about NATO. putins main problem with Ukraine is that Ukraine has the potential and the will to become successful prosperous democratic country and that would show to russian people what shitshow of a "goverment" kremlin is. It was evident in 2014 when Ukrainians overthrew president that did not sign the EU agreement, and putin immediately started war in eastern Ukraine.

    • @terryhand
      @terryhand Před měsícem

      It was Putin who sent tanks into a peaceful country not Ukraine. NATO is a defensive organisation that has never posed a threat to Russia's national integrity. The only threat NATO posed is to Putin's colonial and genocidal ambitions. It is obvious, even to a child, that a cease fire and "peace talks" now is only a break for Russia to re-arm and continue with this war.
