The 1 inch of ice is made up of roughly 20 very thin layers...or atleast its made that way. The lines are usually painted on the second layer along with the logos which are either painted or printed sheets of probably something plastic. Oh and the ice isnt white either, they use white paint to make it white.
I think what you're referring to is when he said "Every night, I sleep on an ice rink." I don't believe he ever mentioned that he made it. Btw, I mean no insult or anything with this reply, just a small correction.
It really depends on what system the arena is using, if the rink is using the method mark rober explained used it will generally be warm, compared to a rink with a mix of cold air and rober explained, it can feel cold in a arena.
This is more for the professional hockey & skating arenas. The local town/county rinks, yeah they'll just cool the entire place down as it's cheaper overall then the piping system.
The "chiller" can and does heat the floor. That is how the ice is removed from an arena ice rink. The "chiller" warms the surface the ice separates from the concrete pad and the ice is scooped up and removed to transform the arena into a Basketball court or Monster truck show....😮
How did you, and all the peons who upvoted you, get the answer so wrong AFTER you were given the correct answer? They use a refrigerant, NOT water. His BED uses cooled water though, so I guess you get some points.
Something like this happened with my refrigerator. The main chamber was room temperature even though there was a strip of ice at the bottom. The ice had covered a vent, and it was preventing the cold air from circulating through the refrigerator. Basically the water was freezing from the other direction.
Amazing! I've wanted something like that for years! I even thought it would be nice if it could heat my feet and cool my upper body at the same time! I'll have to wait for the second version :p
as someone studying about Air-conditioning and refrigeration. This is what i thought aswell about Ice Hockey Rings. They're being frozen like Freezers on a bigger scale.
I used to figure skate, and our rink was chilled ambiently. In the summer it was used as a basketball court, so it didn’t have those pipes. The ice needed to be resurfaced often, but it was overall softer making it easier to cut turns for tricks. I’ve also skated on the rinks with the pipes, and I find that the ice is much harder, making turns easier, but giving you less purchase.
Today's Fact: MrBeast, known for his extravagant stunts and philanthropic giveaways, used to work at a series of fast food restaurants before making it big on CZcams.
I also thought the ice was a foot thick into I saw a video of a hockey rink being converted into a basketball court, and the ice came off in thin sectioned sheets
Well, there's also another element. The air above the ice is cold as well. But because of the glass around the outside, it's like a pillow of cold dense air that sits inside the glass and extends 12' high or so. This acts as further cold insulation from the air (talking about NHL arenas here, not just community rinks).
Ah, heat exchanger. Basically, for this one, it transfers heat from the liquid that's thrown above the tube. All the heat from there gets transferred to the super cold tube below, making the liquid frozen.
this is kind of how water cooled pcs work; the coolant runs through a chiller, in this case the radiator, and then goes through tubes whilst it's cold and makes contact with the copper part next to the processor and it gets cooled, cooling the processor.
I get your crunch lab boxes when I got really mad and it broke but I love the all the other ones in that’s cool how you figure it out how hockey or whatever
An ice rink, can and does do that. I work at once and every time we have to melt to change to a basketball arena we send warm water through to melt it asap

Hello Mark! 👋
oh... so are the sponsors shown on the ice just on a material underneath it, then?
The ice is done in layers, it goes something like:
Ice
White paint
More ice
Lines n sponsors and stuff
Ice

I agree with you.
Try purple harmony pillow. Stays colder longer than any other pillow I've tried so far
Yup
No more flipping pillows in the middle of the night
Try the purple pillow harmony like the other guy said its so worth.
A cool bed with a bunch of blankets sounds heavenly
agree
"I made an ice rink" proceeds to sows us a thing he bought.

@@Vernoncore He may have been talking about the mini ice rink 🤷♂️
@@Vernoncore Nah I was refrencing the small ice rink he showed on the table.
He still showed you how it worked, idk why you're bothered by the plug?
He did make it, he bought the top part and put it on top of pipes connected to a chiller to show u how it worked
That's liquid might be called...antifreeze!
Its glycol the main ingredient for antifreeze
@@tooigooi put it in water and you get...anti freeze!
But it freezes though 😂😂😂
It's literally the opposite. Antifreeze prevents freezing, this stuff promotes freezing. It's coolant, plain and simple.
@@HelperBotit’s not called never freeze….
Motor and suction lines 😂😂. Same thing that keeps your freezer cold.
Never knew an advert could be this entertaining to watch

"even ice rinks can't do that" bro i can't imagine an ice rink being pure liquid 😭😭
As a hockey player...ice rinks are NOT room temperature 😂
The NHL arenas aren’t room temperature but they aren’t extremely cold
It really depends on what system the arena is using, if the rink is using the method mark rober explained used it will generally be warm, compared to a rink with a mix of cold air and rober explained, it can feel cold in a arena.
@@jazefgcm6534 yeah they usually just a bit chilly, not 30 degrees, but like 45 or so I'd say.
Technically, every room is room temperature.
lol. Canadian who’s been to many ice rinks in Canada and the UK, and none of them are “room temperature”
ROOM TEMPERATURE?! I as a Canadian have NEVER been in a rink that wasn’t near or felt like zero all around the inside, stands and seats included.
Then you get the proper barns that feel like -40 on the inside
Room temperature, the temperature of the room is low
That’s just all of Canada at all times
Same
This is more for the professional hockey & skating arenas. The local town/county rinks, yeah they'll just cool the entire place down as it's cheaper overall then the piping system.
A water bed? Nah, I want a water blanket.
Nah I want a water pillow
So an ice rink is a freezer?
Nice
They’re different enough to be classified as a different kind of refrigeration system
I feel like as a Canadian I should’ve known this already, but this has always been a question I’ve had thank you😅
Lol as a finlandian I can confirm that even I knew this. It has now been decided that Finland is better at hockey than Canada lol

In college I lived in a church that used pipes under the stone floor for heating. It made it awesome to walk around barefoot in the winter
My first job was working at a rink. It’s pretty cool looking at all the systems that keep the ice cold
Theoretically, we cannot touch a drop, but when our finger touches a drop, it transforms into a small puddle pls explain
“So I made a miniature one to show you “ immediately pushes it out of frmae
The "super cool liquid" used in hockey rinks is ammonia, you're welcome.
I've been using it for a few years in Korea. It's called a hot water mat, but it's less warm than an electric mat
The "chiller" can and does heat the floor. That is how the ice is removed from an arena ice rink. The "chiller" warms the surface the ice separates from the concrete pad and the ice is scooped up and removed to transform the arena into a Basketball court or Monster truck show....😮
TLDR: it’s watercooled

Room temperature???????? Those hockey stadiums be cold as heck
Its the room temperature of that specific room
@@jabarzua room temp is ~68-77 degrees fahrenheit
Depending on the quality of the stadium the stadium may be colder. Also, the size of the stadium might make this system hard to implement.

The way the stadium stays room temperature is that room temperature is whatever temperature the stadium is.
When has an ice arena ever been room temperature? 😂 There's something wrong about this already.
They simply have refrigerant coils under the ice. It's pretty basic
He caters to children now
That’s why it’s a short and not a full video.
It’s a promotion.

I think the idea is great, but I think the temperature would be more even if the tubes are parallel rather than in series.

That thing probably got a hot exhaust that turns the room hotter during summer
