- In today's video I talk about the Cuda leaks and the recent post by speed society.
Do you think a new Cuda would mean the revival of Plymouth or will this Cuda be a Dodge? - Auta a dopravní prostředky
The most renowned barracuda was called a HEMI 'Cuda! To bring it back with only an inline six cylinder would be a mistake. Then again Stellantis IS A BIG MISTAKE!
Hurricane engine ...plaqued with problems
Stellantis are back stabbers
Plymouth stood for value. The Cuda is an icon. If it isn't priced reasonably, forget it.
Just like Pontiac
If they bring back the Cuda with a inline six, I’m whipping out the pitchforks, the Cuda is one of my favorite muscle cars for two reasons 1. To me, it looks phenomenal. 2. It had a damn V8! Tavares needs to go before his dumbass ruins another piece of Mopar history like he did with the hornet
The Cuda had a slant 6 as well. It’s like y’all be forgetting these muscle cars had more than just V8s 😂
@@CertifiedHeel According to a Mopar guy I talked with the Barracuda was available with a slant 6 all the eay up to a 440, but the Cuda variant came standard with a 318 and could be optioned from there.
It’s better leave ‘Cuda rest in cars’ heaven
Looks like a fan rendering. Its hard to believe a new Cuda would have such a similar front fascia to the outgoing challenger.
They could make a clean efficient V8 if they wanted to.
All current V8 motors are ultra clean and efficient already.
If they want smaller displacement engines at least make a small displacement V8. A Twin turbo 3.0 DOHC 32 VALVE V8 .
A 70k muscle car wont get me into their showroom any time soon
😂😂😂 70 k yeah how about more like $300,000... Mopar is trash screw getting a hellcat I'm getting a ZO6 Corvette or a c8 stingray.
Apparently you haven’t been to a muscle car showroom lately. All muscle cars start at $70,000
@@TOP-SECRETCLOWNBUSINESSI just bought a 2016 Z06
'Cuda won't sell with 6 banger motor even if it had 6 turbos. 'Cuda with 392 for base motor is gold.
I had a 1970 ‘Cuda when I was a kid. I’d consider getting one provided they made them with some quality and reasonable prices
Yeah, honestly. You're better finding an old E-body and restoring it. I've done it twice, and drive them more often than I do the new dodges. They're just better cars. In almost every metric that matters about a car. Sure they don't have every new electronic thing, but you don't miss it.
So what I’m hearing is you won’t be getting on anytime soon 😆
Wasn't the Hudson Hornet name they brought back. It was the AMC Hornet as Stellantis/Chrysler owns the intellectual property and trademarks of AMC since Chrysler's purchase of AMC/Jeep decades ago.
Correct
I think it’s a possibility, all they gotta do is a refresh and rename the last gen challenger and call it a Barracuda just an upgraded face and back with the interior design being refreshed as well. It could be the cheapest way for them to do something. But if they going full revamp and to do R&D then it’s a slim chance Atleast that’s what I think they’d do!
Thats probably close to the plan seeing that Hurricane Charger probably won't be cheap...
That should be the next generation Challenger as a base model, & offer a limited edition Hemi as the highest trim level...
It would definitely sell it just needs to be significantly smaller and cost less than the Dodge Challenger. That’s basically what the Cuda was a smaller version with slightly different design changes. It would be directly competing with Mustang and Camaro in weight. It would be Dodge’s true pony car instead of a pure muscle car like the Dodge Challenger.
Back in the day we had options, not so much anymore. I'd like to see the Plymouth Barracuda come back. With BOTH V6 and V8 options, let the consumer decide. And also a choice of coupe or convertible. Giving consumers choices is a good thing, telling consumers it's an EV or nothing is just plain stupid.
The V-8 is obviously the heart of the muscle car but as a kid who hung around dragstrips and garages in the 60's and 70's I saw guys getting some crazy power out of the cheap and plentiful inline sixes that were the base motor of almost every car and truck model. My first car was an anemic 65 Mustang with a 200ci 6 and 3- speed manual but I paid $175 for a 300 inline 6 that was in a wrecked Ford truck because someone had added split headers and a 4-barrel carb. I later discovered it had a performance camshaft and had been ported and polished. I don't know what the horsepower was but the torque was insane and I could outrun 289's all day. My only complaint? It was bulky and weighed over 500 lbs.
The ‘Cuda could be a very nice replacement to the Challenger!
Glad you cover so much of the automotive industry. Thanks!!
Plymouth Cuda and Roadrunner were cars I loved back in the seventies. They were some of the hotess and most attractive cars Chrysler ever built and I hated it when the brand was discontinued, but sadly it is my opinion you can't recreate perfection. They can make them look the same, with more horse power, better handling, and better ride but they just won't ever be the same or have the spirit of those beautiful Cudas of the seventies.
The first thing I would do is look for carry over parts. Everything from brake rotors, door locks to steering components. I bet it's just a under powered Challenger with a new skin.
A. Two-door lightweight sports car Dodge cuda with an inline 6 twin turbo hurricane. I think that would be badass and if it looked like that render sign me up!
Nope
What youve described is not much more than a Mitsubishi 3000GT. If it needs a power adder to get out of its own way..its NOT worth owning.
They will put it on a fiat / Peugeot plaform with a hybrid 1.3 turbo or something.
That may be why they disco'd the Challenger. Since it's been such a long run they want to freshen it up with a "Cuda" Variant. That would actually be smart marketing. But....It HAS to have a HEMI!
Chrysler/Stellantis/Fiat has not made a "true" hemi since 1971. What they call a "hemi" now is just a canted valve engine not much differnt from a big block Chevy or Ford Cleveland. If the intake and exhaust valves are not 90 degrees apart, its NOT a hemi.
If they engineer the engine properly, address the head gasket issues, and get the value to dollar ratio correct, it would find a market.
The Cuda was built about 4 years ago Tim similar unveiled it a while back but the Challenger was selling so well they didn’t bring it out the one he showed it and it looked more like the challenger but smaller
I've been hearing the same recent rumors of Cuda's return. Except I've heard it's supposed to have the Hemi (even though that engine family was supposed to be history). I'll believe it when I see it.
The Plymouth Prowler became the Chrysler Prowler so it isn't too farfetched to think the 'Cuda could become a model from Dodge. I doubt it very much but it seems to be in the realm of possibility.
That actually looks like the front end of the car Tim teased in that video with the covered car a few years back🧐🧐
Your on to something I never forgot about that
Chevron Deference is dead! 👍 Now let's get the right RIGHT people elected...
The front end looks awesome.
Need to have a slant 6. If it's a vertical in line 6, no deal.
The leaning tower of power.
Continuing from my previous post when it came to Next gen Cars each of the cars had 3 powertrains The Inline 6 twin hybrid engines, The EV powertrain, and the Hemi Hybrid engine that was powered by synthetic oil. The next gen Charger had looks more of a more of modern car while keeping some retro styling cues, a A cuda was there but this had a convertible top and the Dodge Challenger was there but it was more of a hard top version of the cuda and it was more modern looking in the front and body kinda resembles the both 3rd gen and 1st gen Challengers but more sleek. Ralph Gilles did confirmed back in 2019 and the years of 2020 and 2021 that a next gen Challenger was in the works alongside the Charger, but they went silent until some executives stated that the Challenger has been retired for the foreseeable future, but they are keeping the name again until they can use it again.
thats great TK, can't wait to see it 👍👍 I love it TK!!! as long as it doesn't break down 😡
If they put the 6.4L hemi in it, then they can call it a Cuda. Otherwise it's little different from the original 1964 Barracuda, which was simply a pretentious Slant 6 powered 2 door Valiant
The 1964 Barracuda had an optional 273 "commando" V-8 with a 4 barrel. I had one with a 4 speed.
why not Desoto?
Apparently back in 2018 they had already made a cuda concept which was basically very very close to what a production car would have been but the challenger and chargers were selling so well that they kept it in the closet so this very well could be the one that was seen behind closed doors
Can they install the hurricane on a slant?
Look is sharp. Hope it handles like a Porsche.
Inline six for the SXT version standard output.
Leaving a V8 option.
I like the look of the image Cuda
I've always been More of a plymouth guy than a dodge. I thought they could sell them as a SRT
If Plymouth is coming back they best be bring the RoadRunner back.
GTX
At what price?
I had a 1975 AMC Hornet X which also eventually became part of the Chrysler group.
I always wondered why they didn't bring back the barracuda instead of the Challenger?😮
Yes ... ..most definitely..cuz we have nothing eles!!
I’m fine with it so long as it looks good! I’m 50/50 on that front shot, I need a side view. Honestly car Manufactures have been dropping the ball for a long long time now on car design look at the chargers basically same since they came out. Maybe using a.I. To help wouldn’t be a bad idea
Fun Fact: Numerous of cars for next gen were shown back in the Dodge Anonymous 2015 Dealer even including upcoming current gen cars which were Dodge Hellcat aka Demon, Dodge Challenger Hellcat, Dodge Charger Hellcat, Durango Hellcat, Jeep track hawk
Cant their advertising teams come up with anything but names of cars that were classics? What do they pay them for?
With the way that Dodge/Stellantis new TT Hurricane 6CYI engines are blowing up, left and right !! I Seriously think that they , should put a V8 engine , into the new Cuda Car so it can have a fighting chance to make it !! But with European Stellantis Company now in control of everything and just terrible quality control ,i would say no !!! 👎👎👎
It makes more sense to make it a Chrysler Cuda instead. That way Chrysler has more to sell than just the Pacifica.
I don’t think that the Mopar family ( Barracuda) , group, myself included would be happy with a Dodge badge!
LOOKS GOOD
I don't care if its i6 or V8, what i care about is if it sounds good, if it sounds mean, if it sounds brutal. i6s can, but at the current moment its not there yet. The annoying thing is especially these days research into engine sounds was rediscovered on large scale (aka i mean it was better understood pre-emission era, but took a nosedive and then recently came back, it can be done), so there is no reason for it to sound mediocre when it doesn't have to, yet from what i have heard it might as well be a turbo minivan engine and i don't mean the oddball V6 Minivans engines that sound like F1 cars, if not muscle, with simple set of good pipes ala headers and y-pipe (a Yamaha thing)
Hornet came from the AMC variant that was bought out and has not been a great name sake bring back. So to have a Plymouth or even a Dodge that bares the name of Barracuda or 'Cuda it would have to have something really good to sell. There are many gun shy consumers out there and see what has happened in the past few years with the Stellantis variants of any CDJR vehicle. I personally would only want to see these names used if it were a high HP and or high performance version to not kill the heritage that has been with the name as of to date. I could see them revamping the challenger body with some ques and then making it as the E body version were (70-74), but unless performance is involved and some reliability, I don't see this selling any better than the Hornet or the so called problem prong new Charger that can't make it to the dealers to sell yet.
Hornet was a model of Hudson which was bought by Nash/Rambler/AMC and then became a compact AMC model in the 70s
The Hudson hornet had a 352 ci flathead inline 6 and was a fast car for its day.
Unfortunately with the current situation with Stellantis, I don’t think it’s going anywhere!
Guess I’m first but that Cuda looks tough as hell
The online six might work if they did a very low base model and sell it for around 25K we all know that not going to happen just put a hemi in it and have it as a scat pack at the price of no more then 45K that would be the way to revive the brand
Lol that's not gonna happen. It'll be a $100k v6 😂
Lol in canada a scat is like 70k almost I doubt they would drop prices unless the lose a shit ton of money
Crazy how fan art looks better than actual manufactures cars
It has body lines of a Camaro
BRING BACK PLYMOUTH
Plymouth 426 Hemi Cuda 6 speed manual 4 wheel discs 325 rear tires 275 front alum wheels sump oil system 373 rear gears no moon roof no electronic junk
ultra lite composite body Alum frame for $47,000 make at least 100,000 of them
It would sell. And it would be a nice replacement for the Challenger.
Personally I think they need to focus on trying to sell the cars that they have now and another thing who's going to be buying these cars and when they come out nobody wants them mainly the electric vehicle
Sounds like, in my opinion, they are trying to keep up with GM bringing back Pontiac. Just my opinion.
Ohh next it will be the duster!
And raodrunner
In light of the fact that Ford has very wisely kept the new Mustang an internal cumbustion car, and it's the only pony car available right now, it might be a temptation for Stellantis to introduce something they think can take some of the profit share away from the 2024 -2025 Mustang.
I'm guessing the hemicuda will be available in
If it doesn’t have a hemi, it’s not a Cuda
Give people a reason to buy a Mopar over a Toyota/BMW. Make it light give it the HO Hurricane (unless by some miracle they start making V8s again) standard and keep it RWD. But most importantly it can NOT cost more than a S650 Mustang GT
It'll sell if they price it right, which I doubt.
i called the challenger coming back years before and why not the cuda 2 that body should be more straight lined like a f22 fighter just saying rite
Looks like the love child of a Camaro and Challenger
Looks like Fan Art like you said looks to much like a Challenger, but it wouldn't surprise me if the design might be close since most brands have lost all Creativity and don't give two Shits anymore.
Well GM said they are bringing back the GTO so will Pontiac come back? And with the Hornet, the last monicker for that was AMC so they called it now Dodge. A 6 cylinder no flippin way. A 383 would be nice.
Its a name and badges that sucker people in gimmicky but i don’t think they will take the bait
I think that they can put any name on any car that they want to. It's all marketing.
I would give the V6 version a try if the MSRP was reasonable.
not gonna lie that pic looks mean id buy for the body and 392/ hellcat swap it
Plain and simple if it's ot electric, has a hemi and is priced right it will definitely sell
They decided to continue the Jeep 392 Wrangler maybe they will put it in the Cuda if they are really serious bringing this car back. It will be most likely limited production.
The image shown is an artist's rendering.
Should Plymouth be brought back to life... yes but, if only as a strictly muscle car division and nothing else... then that could work. Then, they could revive the GTX, road runner, and Duster... with all new body styles with a touch of retro added.
An inline 6... no, not for a cuda'... or anything else tagged as a muscle car.
Should Dodge make one... if Chrysler & Fiat gives its blessing... and only if the boys at Dodge come up with an all-new design that shares some old school characteristics.
Taking the Challenger and turning it into a cuda' would not be very original at this point.
As for an engine, they should build a new one from the ground up and make it so that it performs... with say around 600 hp.
Since Ford took a car name and made it into a truck/car/SUV, the trend has been set and reviving old badges is working.
Mustang is still selling, and it came out in 1964, so for 60 years now Ford has kept their muscle car going.
Chevy has Camaro but is ending them.
Dodge has challenger and is ending them, but they're keeping charger going, albeit in EV format.
There needs to be something new and Plymouth as Chryslers Muscle car division would be ideal... and FIAT may be able to make something happen.
Hopefully it won't be like the Dart because that car is major disappointment imo .
Nothing will sell if everybody is broke.
if they ruin the Cudas name all is lost for mopar ...if they do it good amazing but thats a heavy name to live up too
Hmmmmm, if some of the things you've mentioned in your earlier videos come to pass, say Chrysler and/or Dodge, etc. sold-off, yes, I could see Plymouth coming back.
Considering the outrageous cost of any CDJR, the dealer gouging, the questionable reliability, treatment of workers, and the future of CDJR; why would any sensible person buy one?
Can't believe Stallantis is still in business, with horrible quality control and crooked dealerships there only selling cars to idiots, evidently there are a few out there. 😅
Charger with challenger head lights? To be honest, they should have made this the new gen charger and the “cuda” should have the new EV charger body… 🤷♂️
I don't think that Plymouth is coming back. If they release the CUDA, I think that it would be a Dodge, and a replacement for the Challenger. If Stellantis does not show off any new models for Dodge this year, then I think that they might be looking to sell off Dodge and Chrysler.
Pontiac and Plymouth returning?!..
Return of Pontiac was a hoax by Car & Driver magazine. Let it go guys.
Maybe Cuda coming inline 8 cylinder
I think the front of that car looks great!!
who wants a 6 cylinder cuda . whith their quality it would wind up just like the hornet.
LOVE CUDAS A FRIEND OF MINE HAD A 1970 440..800HP AT WHEELS. DAME MONSTER WISH I OWED ONE IT WAS A BLAST AND AWESOME CAR..CHEERS BROTHER FROM YOUR FRIEND AND FAN THE CANADIAN PIT BULL 🇨🇦
Wuda- shuda- cuda, I said that 40 years ago, unless it's got a scary ass hemi in it no thanks
Looks like a the early model retro Camaro.
With all the problems Stellantis is having, buying anything they make is a complete risk. Blown engines, cracked windshields and software problems putting people's lives in jeapordy.
I don’t want them to ruin the Cuda name with a six cylinder engine. The Cuda is a muscle car, beautiful, fast and gets people’s attention. But it needs a V8, not a six banger. With the Cuda nameplate it should be as fast or faster than the Mustang. All this is true for the Daytona also. They are ruining the Daytona nameplate by calling it a muscle car and making it electric. We are getting a new truck in the next year or two and won’t even look at Dodge because they killed the V8. And finally, the Cuda should be called a Plymouth, not a Dodge.
If this is reality, give it to Chrysler! I would buy this car in a heartbeat considering the power the new Hurrican 3.0L in-line six puts out. My boss has a new Grand Wagoneer with the Bi-turbo Hurricane, and we have two new RAMs used in our Fields with the same engine. I have a 5.7L Hemit in my 2023 Grand Cherokee Summit and the Hurricane walks away from my GC. It will cost too much to revive the Plymouth Brand, and we can thank the Nazis at Daimler (Mercedes) for the demise of that storied brand.
Or could be Chrysler version of the next charger
A lovely thing it is, but pure fan art. Your description of the current lineup shows how little respect any of the Chrysler brands gets at Stellantis. It's a symptom common with all of their episodes of foreign ownership.
If it were real, I'd prefer that it be off a smaller platform, like the one that underpins the Giulia. This would make it more the size of a Mustang, rather than much larger.
Certainly food for thought....
There's not a snowball's chance in Hell that Stellantis will build this. Stellantis will sell or spin off Dodge and Chrysler within 2 years.
