Big Weakfish Using a Simple Rig (No Bait Necessary)!!!!

- For years, weakfish were a staple of the waters here in Long Island. I close relative of the speckled trout caught in Florida, weakfish fight hard and are relatively easy to catch.
This mid-May trip on my old boat, the Sea Vee (thank you Andy for the invite) produced a LOT of quality weakfish. Like much of May so far, however, the weather sucked and we made this a very short trip! We got fish on every drift and Andy had two quality ones pushing 6 pounds.

Hey John. Thanks for another entertaining video. What knot do you use between the braid and the leader?
I'm not fancy. I tie a simple improved cinch (braid) to cinch (floro) knot. I can do it quickly and it never breaks. Trade off is it's not as small or smooth
John just curious how often do you service your bait caster reels ?
Rarely if ever. I know, I know. I just loosen the drag when I get home and thoroughly and gently wash after a day on the water
What depth are you catching em at?
35 to 40 from what I recall

@@kolbyhumbert2680 we were very much near shore. We usually catch them in the same area as porgies so a little structure is good but it’s not like Blackfish.
