Unfortunately, my school is more engaged in academics rather than having a little extracurriculars or taking part in great competitions. I'm in class 12 Sci & have a deep desire to go to great schools in the US. And therefore, thinking of developing my own extracurricular in the coming year. I am passionate abt singing, so, will soon have my own CZcams channel, will also join a Charity Club or an NGO, and will b tutoring. This is what am thinking of. I'm not getting any extra ideas but I really want to use my passion in music in a creative way bt don't know what 😓 Coz I think, this is not enough to make my profile strong.
@@gurleendhillon9106 No, I haven't given up on this idea. Due to covid , our board exams are pending so still focussing on board exam for now. I don't think, I will be able to do my undergrad abroad due to current situation. May be masters or will take transfer in 3rd-4th year.

You literally just said everything I was actually thinking about extracurriculars from past two weeks. And I came across so many videos where the student has achieved many different awards and that made me feel that whatever I am thinking in wrong. My major extracurricular activity is finding answers for questions. Random questions from social, political, financial or scientific pov. For eg. In search of one such answer I realized a thing that laws (a major portion) are made to restrict freedom. Why? Because freedom to do everything is chaotic. For eg. land disputes can be brought to court for a limited period of time (say 20 yrs) after the dispute. Because allowing infinite options will create chaos in judiciary. Citizens are allowed only licensed weapons in most countries. Why? Because everyone with weapons in their hand will make the world explosive.
I never seen any youtuber with 30K+ subs, have a close connection like this, with its viewer. Its really tough for a Harvard student to post videos on youtube at a frequency like this. Doing great! Keep it going! Any way, can you please make a video on Study Abroad consultancy, & do you taken one?

I didn't try to get into harvard by structuring my hobbies( I had so many) but I ended up finding out what my real passion is by stumbling across harvard unexpectedly and discovering more about the college and just attempting to write points for my essay. Sometimes, if u can't find the answer by solving the question, u might end up finding a whole new question by discovering an answer u weren't trying to find :)

your chances to get into Harvard might have increased because you are an American citizen. Only 5 Indian students are taken every year making the competition really tough.
I agree - my year there were 4 of us :) but citizenship doesn’t actually matter except for financial aid, because you are still considered an international student. They base it off of where you went to high school!

Develop interests. Either academically or non-academically. For eg. I am a science undergrad but I like to learn about historical archaeology. So anything I do for that is my extra curricular but it is still academic. Now I also love to play badminton more than cricket or any other game and that's one of my non-academic EC. For this you need to do things, if you like it and you can do it for a good amount of time, that's your subject of interest. Reading autobiographies is a good way to be aware of various avenues.

Do we have to show proof of what extracurriculurs we've done? e.g. what I spent most of my time other than studies in high school was (still is) talking to random frustrated people; basically just listening, no advice, no judgement, no thoughts, just listening to their problems and giving them a hand of support, which in the long run helped them a lot (even to my surprise) and that's something which made them and myself very happy. To me, maybe happiness isn't the right word but "PEACE". Now, of course I don't have a proof of something like that. I could record a testimonial of a few people but that won't be so good, I believe. So, *thoughts on proof?*

Hi Avanti, One question regarding extracurriculars. I have often heard it say that one's extracurriculars must be associated with one's field of study. Like I want to pursue software engineering but like I don't have any major achievement in this field besides science fairs and workshops. But other than that, I am deeply passionate about music (just like you) and social service. Gardening and photography also fascinate me. So will these stats work in favor of me? Di i am good at public speaking,i have spoken in front of a 5k crowd and I got a good response😁...but the problem is that I write speeches containing a lot of jokes or can I speak in a casual manner and being a ninth grader in India they don’t want a 14 year kid to be that frank and that’s why they don’t select me for debate competitions and select one of my peer who starts his speech with “Good morning ma’am,i am GEETU🤣🤣”whereas I am the one who starts his speech with a joke with which we Indians connect to. So I just want to know what changes should I make in my way of speaking or content in order to get selected in a formal competition? And yes thanks di you are providing a lot off support🤩
It's great that you can make your audience connect to what you are saying. But there are platforms where seriousness is more required. So let's say you are a great performer at an annual function but you may not conclude a debate that well because you are not aware of the SOP of the process. So my suggestion is a) look for opportunities where your way of speaking is required eg. a youth festival or b) Merge your style and SOP of the event. Eg. start with good morning everyone in a debate. But crack a joke to introduce practicality of any theoretical point. Hope that it was of some use.

MBBS is a postgrad degree so you can’t do it directly after the 12th! You need a 4 year undergrad before applying. It is harder for foreign students to get in because of the fact that medicine is so country specific! If you study medicine in the US for example, you can only practice there

I have often heard it say that one's extracurriculars must be associated with one's field of study. Like I want to pursue software engineering but like I don't have any major achievement in this field besides science fairs and workshops. But other than that, I am deeply passionate about music (just like you) and social service. Gardening and photography also fascinate me. So will these stats work in favor of me?

Di i am good at public speaking,i have spoken in front of a 5k crowd and I got a good response😁...but the problem is that I write speeches containing a lot of jokes or can I speak in a casual manner and being a ninth grader in India they don’t want a 14 year kid to be that frank and that’s why they don’t select me for debate competitions and select one of my peer who starts his speech with “Good morning ma’am,i am GEETU🤣🤣”whereas I am the one who starts his speech with a joke with which we Indians connect to.
So I just want to know what changes should I make in my way of speaking or content in order to get selected in a formal competition?

It's great that you can make your audience connect to what you are saying. But there are platforms where seriousness is more required. So let's say you are a great performer at an annual function but you may not conclude a debate that well because you are not aware of the SOP of the process. So my suggestion is
a) look for opportunities where your way of speaking is required eg. a youth festival
or
b) Merge your style and SOP of the event. Eg. start with good morning everyone in a debate. But crack a joke to introduce practicality of any theoretical point.

MBBS is a postgrad degree so you can’t do it directly after the 12th! You need a 4 year undergrad before applying. It is harder for foreign students to get in because of the fact that medicine is so country specific! If you study medicine in the US for example, you can only practice there
