- Hello!
Ben here again, sharing my thoughts on having read two translations of Hesiod!
Hesiod: Theogony/Works and Days (translated by Dorothea Wender), Penguin Classics
Hesiod Theogony Works and Days (translated by M.L.West), Oxford World Classics
Thanks for watching!

Great, great interpretation of Hesiod. Thank you so much for putting laughter into Greek studies.
reviewing for a test in a greek class, this video was a great help! as well as being very entertaining! Good work, good sir!!!
Currently reading Hesiod for a Greek Literature class. You hit the nail on the head with the feeling I got with my "Greek Mythology" phase in my youth coming back to me while reading
Oo Ben a surprise quickie this morning (for me), what a treat! 😊
😋😋
This series is sooo fun to watch and interesting!! Keep going, please.
Thank you!
I love these videos, thank you!
Thank you! Anyone who chooses to click on a video about Hesiod I am eternally grateful to 😄☺️
You are a treat. Hey have you heard or read the story about Hesiod being an illiterate shepherd? He said angels made him write the Theogany! Which means yes, works and days would have been written by someone else!
Hurling thunderbolts is so passe.
😄
I didn't think that Chronos (spelling?) would remind me of a rabbit but here we are.
Rabbit?? 😄
@@doomantidote Yes, I’ve known rabbits to eat their own young. The tale brought them to mind.
I need a full Hercules singalong session now 😂
😁😁
Women! Yes, it is all our fault. I think we may be the only two booktubers to ever discuss these works... (And since I am thinking about reading a lot of ancient lit as translated by women next year, I must go find the Wender edition! Thank you!)
Haha 😆 it's OK I'm reading Sappho now so that's helping to balance things out a bit. Steve Donoghue did a daily penguin on hesiod so that's 3 booktubers! Thanks for watching :)
Of course! Why didn't I think of SD?! You've done a smash-up job of reading ancients as translated by women! Wender, but also McMaster, etc. @@doomantidote
fun to hear about...and maybe when i get some braces to tighten..............😀
Thanks for watching 😄
