This past cruise, I went to the casino for the first time on the last night. Put in $30 and won $750. I cashed out and ran out of there so fast. Lol! Covered our bill and then some.
The Happy Gingers that’s so fantastic!!!!!
Awesome! What a nice way to end your cruise. Playing what? The slot machines
What did you play? I've never played before.
Good move
Always go in thinking you’re in a lose every thing you have with you. I only start with what I know I can afford to lose. Then when it’s gone I walk away
Ack! Why would you play something you know you're going to lose at? ;-) I play a couple of bucks a week on the lotto because at least I get a great fantasy on the cheap. What kind of fantasy do you get in a cruise casino? +$5000? Play the thing on the ship you're sure to gain from: food. ;-)
We do this too. We set a limit (usually pretty low) and just consider it the cost entertainment. Of course, when you do win, you definitely need to walk away and not give it all back to them😂
valjones38 me too
While my mother was alive she was at the blackjack table & she was facing the wheel of fortune slot machine. She handed me $21.00 & told me it was going to hit a large bonus. I went over to play $3.00 at a time. On the third pull I got the Wheel of Fortune & it hit a thousand dollars which was s lot of money then. Our total cruise was $298 with port tax. Talk about testing the fates.
lol we were early to a game show on Carnival (family feud I believe) and they were playing bingo. I thought well I'm early I'll play the last 2 games. Lost the 1st game, then the final blackout game come up and won $850. I think out trip total for me and my wife was $800+ tips. We bought some extra soft drinks for the rest of the trip.
Loved how you linked how to avoid getting sick on cruise ships when you talked about people rubbing the slot machines...
my second CAS cruise coming up, so, yeah love the casino! I do slots, usually pick penny slots, sometimes win, but usually just break even. go to casinos to have fun, don't expect to get rich
Another great video. Due to allergies I usually have to skip the casino, but I usually try to go to at least one bingo session since those are usually held in the theater.
I agree with you, one of the appeals of cruising is having a casino as an activity onboard. Been to Vegas once, probably not going back. But, having a casino night (or two) on a cruise is a blast. Craps are my favorite, lots of action and there are some conservative betting strategies (which you can learn on youtube) that keep you at the table for hours. I've had good luck with 3 card poker, pretty simple strategies (see youtube), I walked away from the table with my original stake while my wife was getting a spa treatment. But, I hate to admit it, but me and my wife get a real kick out of the coin pushers. On our first cruise, we were coming back through a tropical storm and we were timing our coin drops to the roll of the ship LOL
Good thinking! I'd do the same with the roll of the ship, lol!
Just came across an older video and just wanted to say how we love how your background has evolved over the past few years. We have been following for the entire ride and it’s been great to watch it grow!!!!!
Thank you so much!!
Hey Tony, another good video. My personal favorite is craps. Real fast paced and most folks play together and it is very social. A professional gambler in Las Vegas once told a friend, whatever amount you are playing (100, 200, 300, etc), play one hand of blackjack. Win, lose, or draw, you walk away. Best odds you will have of winning.
Good explanation of casino games. Still casinos hold no attraction for me, but interesting to find out what is there. Good luck to those who play!
The risk - even the old penny slots machines - is unpleasant to me so I couldn’t figure out why people like it. You did a good job of explaining why you enjoy it and the various games. Thank you for posting.
Love the content! Very entertaining:)
Love your videos always learn something ♥️🙏
The biggest issue I find with cruise ship casinos, even more so than the worse odds, is that the dealers are a lot less experienced. You really have to keep track of when you win and lose and if they are paying you out correctly. This is especially tough playing craps because the payouts are more complicated and there are tons of chips on the table.
Have you ever earned a free cruise playing craps?
I enjoy the coin pusher!!
Love the “Test the fates!” Must steal your phrase! Love your channel! ❤️
Tony, Thanks for a great video for those of us that like the Casino. Slots and Roulette are my favorites. I will also play Let it Ride if the game is available on the ship.
Ultimate Texas Hold’em, 3/2 Blackjack(would never play 6/5) and Video Poker are my favorites.
Hey Tony one game I found that is on the cruise ships is the crane that tries to grab bundles of money it's pretty hard but I have seen it done
I like the Gold Fish slot machine. I won $95 off a 50 cent pull. Paid for an excursion 🙌🏽
My husband and I only go to casinos on cruise ships and I love the slots.
Great info!
Tony
I was a casino dealer and put boss in a former life. Baccarat is the lowest casino edge, followed by craps, then blackjack. All require money management and most importantly ? Following winning trends with larger bets and losing trend with lower bets or leaving the table. Best bet, avoid casino and enjoy the live entertainment
I enjoyed watching this. I'd like to see a tutorial on how to play some of the table games.
Same. I’m too terrifies to try
Great information.. I book cruises based on the casino onboard.. lol.. That is what I look forward to the most.. No casino on board = a no go for me ...
Same here. As a matter of fact… no craps table? No cruise
Looking forward to one day testing the faits with you at the craps table.
I really like to play blackjack in the ships casino just like at home. Though I did win some money on a slot machine on my very first cruise the very first night. $20 became $270. It was on a Holland America cruise and the game was Super Fortune Happy Cat. It made me a happy cat when I won. Because I play in the casino enough I do get casino player discounts on future cruises. So I may lose a bit of money but I can get a discount for a future cruise and it has payed off.
We just sailed on the Magic last month. October 2021. We are casino club members. We play 3 card, roulette and slots. We took, more money home then we brought on the ship.. 3 card was very good to us. I got a straight flush and won $400.00 .Our last day on board my husband hit a royal flush for $1,400. Then I hit a 3 of a kind for $250.00. Plus I did good on roulette. I have to say this was our 17th cruise and by far the best we have done in a long time. But we save money just for the fun we have in the casino. Its a blast. Can't wait to sail on the Mardi Gras next October. Wish us luck.
You didn’t mention my favorite card game - Let It Ride. It is a poker game. I love it. It tends to be a good social game because the players are not playing against each other. The same players are at the table almost every night. Thanks for the video :)
Worst game ever, let it die
Nice video with basics of all the games but the object of blackjack is not to get the closest to 21, it is to beat the dealer. I have won as many games with 12 as I have with 20 based on the dealer's up card! The house edge is under 5% when using basic strategy!
Good point!
Hahaha, this was just suggested to me for the first time. It's a great video, even though I am not a gambler!
Love playing the penny slits
Hey Tony great video! What craps betting strategy do you find yourself using the most?
I like blackjack, but you never know when someone will sit next to you who doesn't know quite what they're doing and will ruin your flow. Craps is my game as well, Tony... playing conservatively, I almost always walk away up, and everyone's (hopefully) in it for a good time.
Oh my gosh! I really hate it when someone plays on their "hunch" instead of playing the odds. I have a habit of attempting to school people at the BJ table. Too many people act like they're playing against everyone at the table instead of the mindset that it's "all of us against the house". I'll leave the table fairly quickly when there's uneducated blackjack players.
In 2003, I went on a RCCL cruise with my mother and I was winning at BlackJack but I had to turn my winnings over to my mother so she can keep playing slots. I should have taken some to my safe first.
Budget your gaming it’s very important, also sign up for slot clubs
We generally don't gamble but might have check it out on your Alaska group cruise next year.
I play mostly slots...last cruise I won often enough to play off my winnings most of the time so for me that was a win. I also like Let it Ride and 3 card poker if I am going to do a table game.
I learned how to play craps on a cruise ship. Stood next to an older guy that looked like he knew what he was doing and just mirrored him. After that I went down and played every evening and ended up doing pretty well. Payed the whole sail and sign account off in cash at the end of the cruise. You need to pay attention to dealers they are not trained and watched as good as land based dealers they will make mistakes so keep and eye on them and call them out and they usually will correct it without any problems.
Maybe im weird, but love the casino to just walk around with a drink, see others play and loose money.. or win sometimes. I just love it somehow. Sometimes i play the slots for fun, but not a lot. The ambiance is just great there but only when smoke free.
Yep you are weird
In October 2019, The Carnival Fantasy had a crane game with bundles of cash inside....played it a few times with no luck...but there was always someone testing the fates on it .
Full poker (not the fake poker table games like three card or ultimate) isn't tilted toward the casino, that's why it's the only casino game where you're playing against the other customers instead of against the house. The casino gets paid via a rake of the pot instead of counting on you losing more hands then you win.
They may not rake it. If its a higher blind, they charge a seat time charge. Say $6 per half hour
I love the slots. I determine what my budget will be and not go over it. If I reach my budget limit, I stop playing. However, I have a drink perk on the Freedom in February 2020, so I'll probably increase my limit.
i like to play the dancing drums
Lowest edge is Texas Holdem or Omaha. The house has no interest in whether you lose or win, just that you play a lot of hands. Ive had $80 last me a weekend playing Limit Holdem. Second is one deck blackjack, but that’s very hard to find. I played limit Holdem on Jewel of the Seas a few nights during my last cruise. Nice to sit down with Kiwis, Ausies and Germans all at once. 👍🏼
You are correct blackjack and craps give you the best odds against the house. however craps require large investments, but when you win you win big
Love it
Won $2K plus on Spectrum
An gave it back + on Ovation a cruise later.
House always wins, A way to win is not to play.
But its entertainment an that always costs, l was in the casino a lot, over 10 days over 2 cruises an l had fun an met some interesting people.
Walking past those coin pusher arcade games, I always think about playing those on a rough sea day! (and definitely avoiding them after rough seas. I wonder if they have sensors that shut the machine down if motion is detected. Like "Tilt" on a pinball machine?
I've seen them shut them down and turn them off in rough seas saying they "have to be fixed"
On our last cruise on the Carnival Valor, I learned how to play Roulette. And I had a blast! It is a very social game and I loved it. I tried the slots but couldn’t even figure out how to get it to work. I am and have never been a gamer so I’m clueless. None the less I had a great time.
How did you learn to play?
@@bonniecreevy2642 at the time you were allowed to just hang out around the tables and socialize. So I did. Everyone was so friendly and eager to share their knowledge. Sad thing is I probably wouldn't remember all of that if I played now. Good luck.
I’m not much of a gambler but I do enjoy watching games like Texas Hold’em and Black Jack. I don’t know how to play some of the other games like craps or baccarat so I don’t gamble when I go on cruises. I guess I just don’t want to lose any money. Even though I would probably budget a certain amount I’m afraid I might go over the budget. I guess I feel that I don’t have the skill necessary to “work the odds” so “testing the fates” doesn’t really give me the entertainment value. That said I do like to watch others test the fates, win or lose that’s entertainment.
I love the casino, but I hate when people stand over me while I’m winning.
I was watching a table next to a guy who was winning. I turned to leave and he laughed and said, " I think I need you to stay around." :-)
We were on the Paradise. My brother-in-law put a quarter in a slot machine and won $1500!
I’ll try the slots in May
Just went on my first cruise in December . Also my first time in a Casino. I learned how to play craps on CZcams just so I can play on the cruise . Overall I won $500. It was a great time, I really like the comrotory of the game. True that you said you can also make bad bets. One guy did that and lost 1000 in less than 5 mins.
Enjoy roulette. Not in thr casino to break the bank but just socialize and its great fun!
Carnival Sensation. Won some cash on a corner with 10-black.
I love craps for the same reasons. I went to Vegas with $100 CDN and played at least 3 hours of craps everyday for 4 days lol. That’s good value entertainment! Ended up leaving up a few hundred, but if I’d lost it would have been fine. My hourly cost for entertainment was so cheap 😂
I really like table games blackjack is great as long as it's not super 21.
Happy Sunday Tony & Jenny.
Whilst the casino isn't for me. I wish all the fun to everyone that does enjoy the casino.
My favorite casino game is Black Jack and i agree you can play for hours and i have i feel if i bring $100 and leave with $100 ive had a good night!
If you know how to count cards and play perfect strategy, then blackjack is a technical winning game for the player. You can also find video poker that gives a slight edge to the player if you know how to read the payout tables and execute perfect strategy. Execution for these things are much easier said than done. Also, if you get backed off for card counting in blackjack, you're probably done playing for the whole cruise, and they might even ban you from the casino on other cruises on the same line.
NCL does not allow anyone to smoke in casino if not gambling and they enforce it
Just a little FYI, Blackjack odds are better for customers. I use to be a dealer at Harrah’s.
Do the roulette wheels have 2 green slots (American style) or 1 green slot (the rest of the world)? I would suppose cruises originating from America would have 2 (higher house edge) because Americans expect it. When ships reposition to other parts of the world, i wonder if they swap them out for the 1-slot version?
My husband likes poker, I do a few slots but prefer the pool and a few adult beverages. ❤️🚢🎰🏝
Also, some ships have Bingo sessions in other venues.
I not big on casinos but I lived in vegas so a little while. What is the app that you all talk about in some of your videos that you get rooms from by play games on it? My husband plays games on his phone and I want him to make it worth the while for him to play the games.
Tony, the key to baccarat, bet banker 80% of the time. Both bank and player are low edge bets, but banker is just slightly better for the player. Just beware, they usually charge 5% commission on winning banker bets.
Anyone wanting to learn craps. There is a channel color up that’s pretty informative
In a very general way (and not at all absolute): in Vegas you choose a non-branded slot machine Downtown to get the best odds, but I dont know how to get the same good(?) odds on a cruise ship? ...however, the 'Coin pusher' is really entertaining and something I only do on a cruise ship. It will NEVER make you rich, and I've always lost my money on it, but it is so fun!!!
Learn Black Jack Basic strategy and how to some what card count. I’m not a hard core card counter but I know basic strategy and know that if I see a bunch of low cards get thrown out to bet higher the next round
Again I think Hold Em(against players rather than the House) varies by line. Not seen at all on P&O, saw the digitally dealt version on Princess
Im going on the navigator of the sea ...hoping they have buffalo gold slot machine.
The Buffalo will be waiting for you I'm sure
I love to play let it ride
I like Craps too. I play the odds
If you’re a casino visitor on a cruise ship you should plan on a bruising while cruising.
I need to research how to play the poker machine…I really like 5 card poker! ♣️♠️♦️♥️
I’m texting from southwest Michigan
I won $1500.00 on a slot last year on the Rotterdam. I only take $300 to gamble, never more. Finding a loose machine takes luck or talent
Not a fan of Casinos myself but hey Cruising has something for everyone 👍🏻
Like Texas hold'em. Just to take the time and enjoy.
Greatest tip.Make sure what you are watching .If it says 25 ,make sure it’s 25 cents not 25 dollars.Learned the hard way.My one time as a high roller.Ha!
Oh my lol
I keep all my tickets from the machine then cash them in at the end of my cruise 🚢
If I am going to gamble, I will head to Las Vegas where the accommodations are cheaper and the odds of winning are a lot greater than on the cruise ship. If you do the research, you can find out what the "hold" is in Las Vegas and other Nevada casinos. You cannot access that information from the cruise lines. As for Blackjack being an easy game to make money ...ir depends on the rules. The last cruise ship that I was on paid 6/5 on blackjack whic favors the casino by 4.5%
Hi enjoyed your video I am a gambler small time I live in Las Vegas I really love three card poker slot machines are usually play this is wild on the slots have you ever won a lot of money Gambling on a cruise ship yourself and how much have you seen somebody when a lot of money on a cruise ship and how much please
Craps player. Will play o my next cruise.
I enjoy Hold'em. I always enter the on-board tournaments. I have won two tournaments over the years and cashed $1000 for a second place finish once. A lot of gamblers don't like the virtual card tables they use on most cruise lines. A agree there seems to be more river reprieves (where the last "river" card changes who wins the hand) than the odds would allow. No way to prove. Nightly cash play can be spotty. Games don't get going till later at night, often after 10. Imho, an experienced player can often do well. Look out for the occasional crew member at the table who's really good. Some crew are allowed to dress in civilian clothes and gamble in the casino when off duty. Of course there are sharks and pro gamblers, but I contend that, on average an experienced player can expect to do ok or better with a little luck. PS, I'm no pro, just a guy that plays poker with his friends
Enjoy the casino on cruises. Craps payouts are much worse than land based (on what I've seen), but is still a very fun game. Blackjack for killing time, Love watching Roulette but it hates me, and I've had luck with Ultimate Texas hold'm. Won enough on UTH last time to pay for my fare. Usual is to be up/down 10-20% from what started if budgeting my gaming right.
Never seen Craps on a ship - possibly varies by line - I've sailed with P&O and Princess and don't recall seeing Craps. Certainly had BlackJack and Roulette and often 3 card poker
I also feel the same way
I love blackjack!
I love black women
I play slots for two reasons...I know I will loose and I don't care as I am having fun trying not to loose and 2, I don't have to think too much as I am just there to have fun with the thrill of winning a few coins. I'm not a serious gambler as you can tell.
Baccarat... easiest game to learn Tony lol you bet on banker player or tie. That's it dealer does the rsst
Guy Ouellette hilarious, you are right ! Best odds for the gambler that’s why you don’t see them on all ships
I typically hear that people are excited cause they win on the first couple days. Then later on, they tend to start losing. I'm not sure if that is something within the casino or just the player. Never will know. We had a friend that was a dealer for poker and he said that was a true card game and it is just the luck of the cards AND when and how much to bet.
ARGH!!! LOVE CASINOS!!!
like everything else, set a budget and know when to walk away.
3 card poker on the cruise ship is a little different than a land based casino. Land based you can play just pair plus only if you want too, you can’t do that on a cruise ship version.
Before I set foot on the ship I decide how much is the maximum I am prepared and to promise myself I will stop when I loose that amount of money. I would love to play the coin pusher, I like slot machines and like scratch tickets.
It's so funny hearing your "slightly younger" voice on these older uploads...
