Her vocal was fine for a live performance. I just felt disappointed in the song arrangement tbh. Near the end of the song everyone was going mental for the original music for the song and then it was cut short. When you come back after years, don't change things. Could have been such a great performance 😔
Definitely a terrible choice to change it that much. She should’ve at least sang parts of it using the original beat at the end
Agreed. I've read that some artists hate playing the same song the same way and that can be an issue. Also this song came out during he sampling revolution and they may not have the rights to the sounds. Also someone has to keep the sounds on a computer or something and if no one did they may not be able to reproduce the same sounds. Either way this could have been better.
Now and days synthesizer are very expensive in these days so they had had to gather as much they can work with even when they try to save money on touring

I was a kid when i heard this song, now im 43 years old.
I remember being in HS when this song came out. Loved it and still do!! Never got enough airtime. It’s still on my playlist in my phone. Matter of fact, I was listening to it this morning making my breakfast!!!

Something happens to your lung capacity as you get older (be they an athlete, vocalist, musician, dancer or regular person on the street) and if you don't keep up your training, you will very quickly become winded when singing.
What was effortless for you at 45-49 years old, will become suddenly...and quite surprisingly...difficult for the first time in life. This can really sneak up on you, and it requires continual conditioning.
People don't realize how physical singing is until they try to do it, and then combine that with walking or dancing on stage and you've got an aerobic workout.
This is why backing vocalists (and often pre-recorded vocal tracks) have become a part of live performing.
