Thank you Drew. Been watching your videos for a few years now. Always nice to go back and catchup on some of the older ones. Your work is greatly appreciated. Aces
Although the option of an internal talkback mic is described & shown in both the Midas M32 and M32R manuals, it does not seem to exist anymore if it ever actually did; not shown on-screen page in firmware 3.08 or 3.09 anyway. The option does show in the Mac M32 Edit software app, but I am fairly certain there is no internal talkback mic in those Midas models; i have both.
I was wondering how long it was going to take until someone commented about those! They work perfectly! Let me know if you have any questions or want me to make a video about something specific.
I am un able to use the talkback or hear any sound out of either side of the headphones jack on the Behringer X32. I've Factory reset the board but still have no input from the internal talkback mic or external mic, the monitor shows bars on the meters but no sound out. I've also tried to route the talkback through the P16 but that prevailed nothing. Is there something that I am missing?
Hey Drew, our church has been using the X32 for a few months now and we love it. I have a questions though. We would like to have a dead mic on stage so the musicians can communicate with one another. The problem is that we cant hear what they are saying through the board. We've tried using a channel and just muting it in the house but run into the same problem. Is there a way to have a mix in the P16m and not in the house and be able to hear it through the board speakers? Love the videos!
HI, i'm no expert, but seeing your problem, i might have an answer for you. let's say you want to your drummer to have an intercom mic, so that only the musician monitor can hear, what you have to do is to unselect/unsend the intercom Mic Channel to MAIN L/R and Mono bus, also don't send to any subgroup or bus that is sent to MainLR/ FOH speakers. This way, the musician can hear what the drummer say, but the FOH speakers can not. Hope this can help.
Hi, Drew, Question for you :) M32R here. Is it possible to make DIM work for the signal being sent to bus? We have a remote host, they can hear talk back mic, but the DIM does not affect the sent signal. Is there anything that can do the trick or DIM works only for signal sent to the LR bus? Thanks much :)
I've done everything you've said but cannot get my external mic to work. All I see is gain reduction, but there is no signal and nothing audible out of my mixes on stage. mic and cable work and mixes on stage all work just fine. External mic is selected and gain is up on screen, as well as gain knob on console. Any suggestions?
hola no hablo ingles,,,, podrias ayudarme necesito interconectar el talckback de 2 x32 por via AES50 en donde el ing de mon hable con el ing de foh y al contrario ... gracias
Great explanation. Is there any way to add effects to the talkback? For instance, if I wanted to test a reverb or delay before I added it to a singers voice?
I was about to say there’s no means of doing that, but actually, since effects sends are by default assigned as the last four mix buses, you could select anything from Mix 12 to Mix 16 as a destination in the Talkback pages at same time as the desired mix you want the talkback to be actually heard out of and send the corresponding effects return(s) to the same mix, meaning you should be able to hear both dry and wet signal of the talkback source from your monitors/FOH. I’ve never tried that, but it seems to make sense in my head.
How can I send the talkback signal ONLY to my headphones, BUT NOT to my Main L & R? I have a Behringer X32 Compact (using it in a studio) and my control room monitor speakers are coming out from Output 6 & 7, and there is feedback if I press the talkback mic. And I want to speak to the person whom I am recording but without hearing the console mic in my monitor speakers from control room. Do you know if it is possible this? Thank you!
I would love to use my back upvocal mic which is routed out front along with several mix buses to be used as a talk back mic between songs. So not outfront between songs. I don't talk to the crowd as I am a lowly drummer. Any suggestions? maybe a assign button? Please help. . ?
Do you mean to have a mic that can only be heard to other player/talent without being heard by Crowd (FOH Speaker)? The answer is YES. You can unassign the desired Channel to be send to Main L/R by just turn off the MAIN L/R button on MAIN BUS Section , left of the screen. Hope this can help.
Hey Ken - Unfortunately, the only option for the talkback mic is to plug into the external mic jack of the X32. Otherwise, you would need to route it as a vocal mic into a monitor.
Hi Drew, my name is Donald. I'm from Jakarta, Indonesia. Thank you for all your videos of X32, they're very helpful. I just bought The X32 last month, I was happy with it. But then, the Talkback function does not work anymore neither the monitor and headphones. Both talkback inputs do not receive any signal. And both monitor and headphones only produce rumbling sound. Before it was just perfect. Can you help me, please.
You don’t even have to sacrifice a bus purely for talkback either. In the p16 patch screen, you can select Monitor as a category of output and Talkback can be selected as the source for a given output directly from there.
How can I send the talkback signal ONLY to my headphones, BUT NOT to my Main L & R? Yes it is possible. in Talkback (A or B) menu tick/check which mixbus the headphones are routed. Than uncheck the Main L/R and Mono. So the only one hearing your Talkback is the ony ticked/checked mixbus you selected.
Or, in the way you have it configured, you can engage the “auto monitor dim” button on the talkback page, and the “dim” means it will then lower the volume of your main L/R outputs a little bit (-10-15 db) and keep your control room speakers from feediing back. I would think those monitors should be fed from an odd/even pair like 7 & 8, not 6 &7. That way you can link them together and adjust level with one fader.
Thank you Drew. Been watching your videos for a few years now. Always nice to go back and catchup on some of the older ones. Your work is greatly appreciated. Aces
wow .. thx soo much!! been having the behringer for a while now, and never knew the talkback mic was built in.. you are super helpful!!
Love your paint can speaker stands. But even more - I love your tutorials on the X32. I am excited rather than intimidated by the digital board now!
In the p16 routing you can select what channel on the p16-m and then select which talk back channel.
Does talkback go to the USB Recorder?

Is it possible to select any of the other mic inputs to be used as the talkback or does it HAVE to be that specific talkback input ?
I think not being able to disable the phantom power is a huge flaw 😭

CZcams has added automatic video stabilization since you made this. Might want to just quickly apply it to this video when you get a chance!
How would you route the talkback to the p16 m?
How do u connect talkback mic to the Music Director and the rest of the bands ears if they are not using packs

Aaron Martin thank you! Was thinking there had to be a way to do it. New to the console and just trying to get familiar with the different pages on it
