You grow a ministry one mic, one speaker, one light and one cable at a time. I remember when I got to my current church 7 years ago and they had 3 ½ mic stands. We bought two new mic stands. I then bought dual mic holds for those to keep the stage tidy. We had about 4 xlr cables....we now have like 15. We had 2 choir mics and needed more, the youth pastor was cleaning out a filing cabinet and found two more. Let me tell you, if it is a need God will provide.
i’m a new worship leader and i’m so glad i just came across this channel. this is going to play a big part in helping me with setting up our sound
Let me know if you have any questions
That little camera hand off in the beginning was nice :D
I love to hear how all this stuff works! Thanks for making this.
Give us a tour of your church
That intro was so neat
Even three years later this video is a huge help! Trying to get this setup at my church currently since I am in a completely different room from the sanctuary.
Great video! I like the idea of having all the extra talk backs in place to be able to communicate across the team
Love you bro. Have a great Easter!
How do you make sure the talk backs don't go through the mains?
Great video!
Great video, thanks! Question, how do you get the media team to listen in?
Hey Chad, can you guide us through a low budget PA for somewhat of a small church?
Good idea. I’m gonna give this some thought for sure. Thanks for watching as well.
I have done a few installs and what I have learned is buy the best what fits in your budget.
eBay, Amazon, markertek, bhphoto... are your friend! With sites like markertek you can save upwards of from a few dollars to $200 just by requesting a quote from the sales people.
I picked the qsc k8.2 speakers as the k.2 family are rock solid speakers that sound great and are reasonably priced. You could even do one speaker as your main and one as a monitor. (Yes you could get behringer speakers but they might not sound as good and or last as long.) The XR18 is amazing for what it costs, the wireless is not to good on it though that's why I put in a TP-link Archer C7. The C7 is rock solid on factory firmware.
This is something I threw together in 8min assuming you have have a Android/ipad and or laptop and a budget of $3,000. This would provide a solid platform to expand upon as your church grows. A ministry is built one mic, one cable, one volunteer at a time.
For a 100 seat portable system:
Behringer xr18 ~$600
TP-link C7 wireless router ~$70
Two - 20ft cat5e/cat6 cables ~$15
Four - Shure sm58 mics ~$400 (4x$99)
Four - mic stands ~$120 (4@$30)
Three ( 1 spare) - 50ft-75ft mic cables ~$55 (3@$18)
Five (1 spare) - 25ft mic cables (10 pack on eBay is ~$25)
Storage box on wheels ~$150
Two - QSC k8.2 speakers ~$1,398 (2@$649)
Two - Speaker stands. ~$100
30yr of hook and loop (Velcro) ~$15
50yrd of gaff tape (3in) ~$30
I have a Soundcraft expression 3 would it be same principle to set up my talk back mics? I’ve been trying to figure it out for over a year with no luck for my church 🥲
What about when you use an analogue mixer
Can you make a video about video production?
Hi, I am having a problem with my talk backs where the only way for the in ears to hear the talkbacks is if it's coming out in the mains for everyone to hear as well, I have an x32 compact with a s32 stagebox is there a way around this? Thanks in advanced
Any advice for microphone positions for talk back?
My talkback mic for the instrumentalists picks up sound from the drums and other instruments on stage.
Sounds like you basically set up a intercom/Partyline…
Joshua Brocklesby
That is what they are for!!!!
Lol
Talk back mic....."Freakin' brilliant"......man, this is good to know....(taking notes from ya)
Awesome! I found an old mic I have a specific use for. 😁
I dont even know how to set up an in ear monitor, do you have a video on that?
Great video💯
Hey, I am not sure if you covered this, how do you prevent the mics coming from the mains but still have them in the in buses etc
Hey, Oforitsesan Towesho. On this perticular console you can take any channel off the mains by clicking on the main stereo button that is right beside the pan knob in the main bus section. You can also find this under the main tab all the way to the right on the screen. I always do this so as a safe other volunteers at my church cant send any talckback, click or audience mics throungh the mains.
@@FenerStrat Does this work for the Behringer X32 as well?
@@oscardoblado816 My understanding the M32 and X32 are practically the same. M32 just has upgraded faders and some components.
Chad, I would like to do a talkback set up with a in ear monitor for my Church. I need your help.
Message me on instagram if you have it
This is good stuff, what is the best low budget sound system to use when wanting to use back mics
You can do exactly what I explained in the video with the X32 digital console at half the price. There are other digital consoles that cost less that can do this just as well as far as functionality of running talkbacks, it would just be a different interface of course. For the in-ear boxes, most would probably consider the Behringer P16 a good “lower budget” option. That’s why we use them. I hope that answers your question.
How do you set up the drums talkback for it not to pick up the drums as much ? We’ve been trying at my church but it’s been a struggle
The cheep talk back mic we use at the drums has an “on and off” switch. The con of using a mic with a switch is the drummer has to stop playing or only play with one hand while using the mic. But it beats hearing the drum constantly in TB.
I watched your video but how do you eliminate, compress or eq the mic from other instruments and outside from your actual voice talking in the mic ??
Bruh. 00:30 I paused the video because I thought it was muted and I had music playing somewhere else. 😂😂
Can you use a wireless kz az10 in ear for TalkBack???
Shure 87s laying around....? I have a Radio Shack, coiled cable, hi impedance mic laying around.
Could you please or anyone tell me how to make my talk back to cut trough the mix - the way I have it now when I speak on it everything else goes down and the only think they hear is my voice trough talk back!
Any guidance on a talk back mic inside a drum cage? We have a talk back mic in the drum cage for our drummer, but we get a lot of bleed from the kit into this mic from that we don't really want. We thought about making a DIY side shield to help block sounds, but wondering if you have any ideas? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you!
We use a mic with a switch. I know it’s not as convenient but it’s the best option to not have a ton of unwanted sound
@@WorshipLeaderHangout Thanks for the response!
How do you have enough channel for talkback on that board?!!!
I would take a 12 channel analog bird and run all the talkbacks into that and send a mono mix into one of the aux inputs so that you still have room to expand your team.
That’s our plan for when we need to expand for more instruments. Thanks so much for watching
Please boss
I beg you can I use the Behringer MA400 as a in-ear monitors system
Do talkbacks work with Audiofusion?
Yeah! Should work totally fine with Audiofusion. Whoever doesn’t need to hear talk back in their individual mix can turn it down. Each talkback mic is in a normal input just like any other mic only you remove it from subs and tops.
Is it possible to have 2 md mics?
Yeah we run 3 still. Keys, bass and drums. I actually still use this old mic for our drummer talk back haha
You went sooooo fast. How do you select what channel you want to use for talk back, without sending it through the main front of house speakers?
Make sure you deselect your main bus. Both “Mono Centre and Main Stereo”
@@WorshipLeaderHangout I tried that and the sound still comes through. In fact I noticed that many channels were not selected to begin with and yet sound still comes through the front of house speakers. Any ideas?
Having same issue. SI Expression 2. I have the main "off" and fader for mono at unity amd still coming through mains..dagnabbit!
How do you do to put the md mic only in the ear and not in your PA
Run them to a bus and assign that bus to the p16. This is on a Midas M32. Also, don’t send them to your mono or stereo mix.
Worship Leader Hangout even if you don’t have a p16 ? To don’t send on my mono stereo mix I just have to pu the fader down and put it high (pre fader) in my send to my ear ? That right ? (Sorry for my English I am a french guy from Paris)
@@jordanlauzandier4877 No, to send it to your ears, just assign them to the bus that sending signal to the headphones you're using.
Or if you're using a P16, assign it to one of the P16 inputs.
To prevent it from coming through your PA stereo mix, just select the talkback mic channel and disengage it from your stereo mix by pressing the stereo bus button (directly to the left side of your screen)
Rocking the fader wont affect it in your ears, specifically if it's set to Pre-fader
@@davidrotimi awesome thank you !
Sweet! What mixer do you use?
M32 thanks for watching

Sooo overproduced and unhelpful.
