      Have you ridden anything yet that has one of the “Rekluse” semi automatic clutches? I have seen a couple of other people install one of them on their machine and I would really like to see you install one on one of the machines that you build. You could get some good content from a little torture test and a review. That would be great,we’d get to see it in action and maybe you could explain how they function and how much you like it.

      Add some 2inch wheel spacers or a wider rear axle and some lower profile rear tires it will improve the handling and also use more body English lean much more. three wheelers require more from the rider than a 4 wheeler I grew up on them In The 80s and 90s I prefer a 3wheeler Over 4wheelers myself. Just gotta know how to ride and respect them cause they will hurt you quickly. Just been safe man. And don’t ride beyond your abilities please.

    AWESOME VID. I worked at a farm equipment dealership in the 80's that also sold recreational products, Honda atvs happened to be one of the products. I worked on all the of them. I moved on to a different job in 1990 but worked on a lot of Honda atv's on the side after as the move had been made to the trx 4 wheeler . The 350x and the 250r I worked on a pile of those replacing the rear axle brgs, seals, the clutches and engine rebuilds. The worst was a fellow did his own clutch, did everything properly and good but did not get the cover gasket he used a little too much silicone instead, a piece broke loose and blocked the oil feed to the cam. A chain link through the case is not a good thing either. I love watch vids like this, wish I could do it all over again good times.

    I know this isn’t your first three-wheeler ride Joe, but body english is the key. Don’t be afraid to really throw your weight down on the inside on turns. Obviously with speed it helps keep you upright but even when going slow, if you lean in it takes weight off of the outside tire which helps you turn sharp.

    • @dormantmenace
      @dormantmenace Před 2 lety +2

      Just shift your ass around don't lean. We'll don't just lean. I wanted a quad as a kid. My dad said they promote poor body English lol. Got a atc 70, a 110 then a 185 a 90. Then switched to 2 wheels. 3 wheelers are great teachers. Like cactus. Lol you only need to be told once.

    I got to ride a bunch of awesome stuff starting as a kid in the late 80’s. I started with a Honda 110cc Moped and an 80cc “Peewee” three speed kids dirt bike. I rode quite a few three wheelers and owned a couple here and there but, I didn’t ever get to ride any of the bad ass trikes with the five speed and a clutch. I had a good time riding the Honda big red 200cc wheelers and I really want to get the chance to ride a 250 or 350cc five speed like you have here.

      Trail riding is where they shine the most . ..If person knows how to ride them you can waste quads on tight trails , the turn radius is awesome.
      The only issue I had with mine was compression ....Kicking that beast was hard at first but , once you knew where the sweat spot was it was easy.

I cut my 3-wheeler teeth on a buddy’s Honda ‘Big Red’ ATC200 on riverside trails back in the ‘80s, but never got the 350 experience. she seems fast to my Eyes & Ear Meter and also seems like she’d do anyone well on a long (hopefully flat) trail ride with all those gears. the trouble with 3-wheelers starts with uneven terrain…add high speed to that & get ready to be bucked off for a high-side slam. there was nothing wrong with ATCs; it was operator errors that did them in, IMO

But again I am not totally sure. Also it looks like you are adjusting the idle at the throttle grip? That should be done at the carburetor, maybe you know that and we're just improvising temporarily. Take the carb off, turn it upside down and blow through the petrol intake.
    Easy way of checking if your needle/needle seat is successfully blocking the intake of petrol.

      You guys are Hilarious!!!! How old are you guys ? Because I'm 58 and was riding at Pismo Dunes between 1984 -1991 and I'm here to tell you , the 350 X was not the King !!! Ever!!!! The 250R's were along with theTriZ and the Kawi Tecate 3 wheeler . Saw a guy with a stroked 350X " 5,500" in engine work , continually get beat by a piped and jetted 250R on Comp Hill probably 5 runs in a row , and on the last run the stroked 350X blew up!!!! Yup !!! He was so passed off that he tried to start a fight with the kid on the 250R . 350X was a fun bike , and great for trail trail or mountain riding , but all out getting it they just couldn't compete with the250 two strokes , and they weigh more too .

      @@gd6349I’m 53 and ran the 350x for 15 years or so in every scenario possible, including racing, riding in the winter etc, but when it came to flat out track racing or even drag racing for that matter, correct, the 250R, Tri-Z and Tecate were superior.

    A set of flat tracks will make a world of difference it allows you to slid it instead of turning it .they are awsome tho I miss mine a lot

    •  Před 7 měsíci

      True but a pair of true flat tracks absolutely kill your top end, drastically, and the top end of every gear for that matter.

    If you take some of the air out of the tires so that they are really soft (around 4-6 psi) you will find that the vehicle will perform way better. It will make it much better to turn and handle much better overall. And if you don't have an air cleaner you won't get the right fuel to come into your carb. the filter creates a much stronger suction from the tank which provides a better flow. Your idle should also be really slow and steady.

    I learned on an ATC at a young age and you learn leaning very quickly if you want to corner fast. Def want to have bald tires in the rear to practice this or smaller diameter. Taller tires and it gets tough.
