    Aloha Guy! My take away is how much work it really takes to do that 20 second bit. Animated score has its anxieties - so much going on and so important. Reminds me of the animated feature I scored for Roger Corman Aladins Adventure of All-Time. So stressed, 3 weeks to score and deliver. Merry Christmas.

  • @lahattec
    @lahattec Před 3 lety

    Brilliant, Guy!
    One major problem for me is that I would never have thought of doing those things that you did, which fit the scene very nice. So, some pointers on how to actually imagine the right sounds for certain types of scenes would be VERY helpful.
    Maybe there is some in the Scoring to Picture course? I have that, but haven't gotten into yet.

    • @NickHoad
      @NickHoad Před 3 lety +1

      I'm not sure how you would teach something like that but in this video, Guy was being very cliche (in terms of the harmony) in order to speed things up. The first two chords for example are kind of "stock" evil chords that show up all over the place. I think it's just a case of listening to a lot of music and figuring out what works for certain scenes and what doesn't. I imagine there's also a lot of trial and error involved.

Is it wise to create your own songs ahead of time of the animation process to get the feeling of the scene? My second question is if people can't gain access to the program to it, what other methods can be done to achieve the same effect?

    Wonderful! I love that you Brits hold on to the Advent Calendar tradition. Sadly, it’s withered here in the States.
    Two thoughts:
    1) Did you really need to provide those chords to each bounce down the steps, since the soundtrack provided the “boings?” They seem to fight with each other. (Just my opinion.)
    2) Did you notice how closely King Cracker’s throne resembles the Iron Throne from GoT? That could have pulled you into an entirely different direction.
    Thanks.
