- December 8, 2007: RBMN SD40-2 3051 and RBMN SD40-2 3055 power up the throttle while shifting and kicking cars at Reading and Northern's storage yard north of CP Belt, which is the meet of Norfolk Southern and Reading and Northern, as well as the diversion of runner tracks into the Reading Yard. Reading and Northern train RGQA would later continue northbound to Port Clinton. A fine job done by the crew! Enjoy!
For those of you who may be wondering about the Conrail U23B here is the info: The Conrail U23B 2786 (patched BDLX) was actually a misdistribute and it does not belong to Reading and Northern. It is sitting on the siding waiting to be picked up. It's not in too bad of shape for a U23B, and it sure makes a nice background!
I just love that sound of EMD's SD40-2's!!! I can't get enough of it! I used to live right across from the locomotive bypass and would hear the sound of EMD's on daily basis. I would fall asleep to EMD's good sound, I would wake up to it. I would see all kinds of SD40-2's, SD50's and 60's and all the other good EMD locomotives.
Great video! Very interesting to see car-kicking in the 21st century.
I parked in that industrial center's parking lot, and just walked down the hill to the deck. The entrance is on Tuckerton Road just a few hundred feet to the right down from the intersection with PA-61.
It amazes to see a handfull of cars being switched on a shortline with 6000 horsepower! Cool video.
sweet paint on thos! Great job!
They really 'love' to organize those cars :). I was there for about an hour, although they are usually there between 1 and 2 hours to organize and set-off cars.
Cool video. Kicking cars on air like a boss.
I am not sure, but since it has a BDLX patch, it might be a drilling engine for the quarry at Pennsy Supply in Millards, which is not so far (35 miles) from its current spot. That could explain the misplacement.
Heh, yeah that looked familiar. I love those SD40-2's. I would like to see their SD38's and SD50's as well.
He is shoving them pretty quick, although I cut out the idle time, which wasn't very long. They are pretty much in full back-n-forth for 2 hours or more. I really enjoy watching these guys shift, you really can't see much of this on a Class 1 anymore, maybe CN.
The same place I took 425, this is where the 425 started its journey to Jim Thorpe, the RGQA was right behind 425. I think this place is called Tuckerton.
Id love to hear that U-Boat crank up! Love the classic sound! 8-)
Great quality on this one, those EMDs sound great! and btw that engineer has my one dickie hoodie LOL. Great job
Oh, that's BDLX's now, it had belonged to the Pennsy Supply quarry along the Harrisburg Line, but now it's in Pittston, PA, I don't know for what it is currently used.
I have seen a lot of Canadien National cars.
poor old 2786 looks like a old c-40 i would love to restore that old loco to new condition for show
You mean they have more amazing power? These locos alone look awesome. And where is that Ex Connie going to go?
cool it is a old u boat i wasn't sure i would not mind seeing that thing being restored for a museum. they just don't build locos like they used to
RBMN has no U-boats or GP7's, etc. The smallest units they have are SW8's and a SW1500, but they are used in the yard shifting and rarly visit this part of the line.
1:36 that was a hard joint!
