I worked for FOX Television many years ago. He had his autobiography out. Our local news station wanted to interview him on a dinner/speaking engagement. I was given the task to track him down. I did. We emailed back and forth, and the interview was set after dinner. Judge Roper invited him to speak to former jailed inmates, recovery drug addicts in Porterville, California. He came in his own plane by himself and his Martin D-45. Spoke to the people, played some tunes on his Martin D-45 and was very engaging. Here's the kicker, he did it for free. He said it was his way to give back to the community. We interviewed him for the KMPH FOX Fresno TV 10 O' Clock News. He was nothing but the best. Kind and very talkative. Many say he was a jerk, rude, filthy, etc... that night in 1991 we saw a humbled David Crosby.
All my rock and roll heroes are going to that great gig in the sky. Petty, Christine Perfect, Beck and now Crosby. Who will be next? Who did I miss? I'll be 70 soon. I hope I make it up there...
My first concert was David Crosby and Graham Nash at the Waterbury Palace Theater in June of 1973.... and that's where it all began... Thanks David. 🎶🎵🎶
Man did you just bring back memories. Living in Mystic CT as a kid (I'm still playing guitar at 69 in N Hollywood CA) I must've seen 50 bands at least at the Palace - a great sized & sounding place. Badfinger, PinkFloyd when they debuted Dark Side; Queen's 1st tour opening for Mott the Hoople; Mahavishnu, KingCrimson, Leo Kottke, pre beard ZZ Top a few times, Edgar and Johnny, Elf (ronnie james dio's band) opening for Deep Purple who later produced their LP. on and on... I still have the ticket stubs along with Dillon Stadium (Eagles 1st tour;Edgar Winter & Yes) Yale Bowl (ELP) and others - never mind the Shaboo and Toad's Place. Thanks !! 🎸
Between the New Haven Coliseum, Hartford Civic Center, Colt Park we went to so many shows. Eric Clapton, Fleetwood Mac, Charlie Daniels, Bob Dylan, The Dead.....all Golden Era Events.....Shaboo numerous times...And who can forget Toads Place!!
Condolences to David's family friends and fans, sad news indeed, jeezus Ramon what's going on all these fellas passing it's getting scary, great run down bud thanks. 🏴👍👍👍🥃Respect to you mate.
If I Could Only Remember My Name is vocal harmonic bliss. Thanks for all of the musical magic you gave to us Croz. Take great rest in the Light, your works will shine on through time.
Thanks David Crosby for all the inspirational music you made while keeping us company on the planet. Your gifts have touched us and you music will live on.
Thanks Ramon: besides his talent as a musician, David Crosby seemed to be a generous guy, giving away all these guitars ! Seems like we reach a new era: after Jeff Beck, now David Crosby... RIP guys, there are going to be some nice music played up there !!
Hey Goose, hope all is groovy I dug that riff you closed with... If it'd been longer, I would've broke out my own and plunked along (3:30 AM Friday morn)
Apparently also used the mud switch on his Gretsch's to good effect- cant say I know any specific examples musically- but it makes for an interesting discussion point. After Jeff Beck and now Croz- this is oddly surreal to January 2016- 7 years ago- please dont tell me we are in for another winnowing of the old guard!
I haven't been here in a while Ramon, I am suprised you didn't do anything on the greatest living rock, rockabilly, fusion, blues, etc guitarist we also lost....Mr Jeff Beck.
That Alembic is, the best electric 12 string ever made. It started out as a Gibson Crest. It was the first guitar with LED fret markers. It was probably one of the first guitars with active pickups, as well, if not the first.
Funny. I once heard Jackson brown, saying Crosby always had the best guitars.😁 I’m sure the man’s spirit is sailing onward towards his next journey.❤️✌️
David was BLESSED with Talent in singing, composing and playing - indeed HARMONIZING with others ( Stills and Nash ) .... he also was a drug addict, ego minded and selfish SOB .... who treated his friends and Musical Family..... poorly more than once. His legacy as a force AND UNIQUE MUSICIAN WILL NO DOUBT be his measure ..... but, even he knew of his propensity for ruining what was Given Him ..... and not tools for his amusement. A great, skilled and also flawed David - Farewell, God bless. jj
How sad that you DEFINE an 81 year old life by an addiction he fought and beat, ignoring how much he helped other addicts recover. I hope you never made a mistake that leads you down a wrong path that others will use after your death to name you. How he treated his friends and musical family (I assume you mean SN&Y) is THEIR business, not ours. Flawed? Yes, of course because he was human. He never said he was anything else. His honesty, next to his ability to harmonize, was his greatest gift.
Hello Goose. This was great, thank you. In David's own words he was very arrogant an cocky when he was in the Birds, he told his bandmates they sucked an he was above them all. But interesting truth is a fact. Roger was the only musician that actually played on thier 1st album due to his great skill, the rest was performed by the Wrecking Crew!
Look at how Stills has been slagged off for decades and he played every instrument on the 'Couch' album, wrote most of the songs, mixed and produced all of it. By wanting it to be a democracy (so they thought; actually it was a bit more socialist), they neglected to be straight with the credit. Did the same thing to an only slightly less extent with Deja Vu and allowed Stills to be labeled a dictator, an egotist, a perfectionist. Listen to Carry On and read the credits: guitars (plural), bass, organ, percussion, production = Stills. And that's just one song. It's an untold history. P.S. Re Wrecking Crew. Ever wondered who played on all those Beach Boy songs, including Pet Sounds?
Hardly even a meh. An arrogant fat guy that went around dissing other musicians and an all-around mean person. Notorious. The opposite version of this clown would be someone like Jimi or Jerry Garcia- both noted for their kindness and better musicianship.
@@JoeGator23 was waiting for day he kicked off. i was displeased with what he said about Eddie EVH, when he passed. so i was waiting to piss on him, a little or a lot.
@@vanhalen5150jhs I don't revel that anyone has passed away. But he asked for it by living like a self-centered fool- particularly his comment towards the passing of the immortal talent of EVH. Apparently Crosby always was an a-hole anyways- probably for his own self-indulgent ego's entertainment. Too bad he never saw the light and changed his ways decades ago so that he could have left a decent legacy of his life. Too disrespectful and arrogant to be remembered well in my book.
Really. Jeff was a shock. Tom Petty was about a month of melancholy around my house. All I listened to and played was Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. When Christine died, my wife and I felt like a family member passed on. My household was as if in mourning. I guess that’s the way of life…

Just today, I read an interview about why the Byrds kicked him out. He said it was because " I WAS AN A HOLE" honest to the end
@@lamper2 It is well known that description of himself. He later on in life said he was that and more. We saw that day a David Crosby in a nice way.
❤ Croz ❤
David Crosby appears to be a genuine human being, I have great respect for him as artist and musician
RIP David, your voice and soul has touched and will continue to inspire many lives.
All my rock and roll heroes are going to that great gig in the sky. Petty, Christine Perfect, Beck and now Crosby. Who will be next? Who did I miss? I'll be 70 soon. I hope I make it up there...

Wow; just found this out through you. May he RIP; these couple of weeks have been hard with El Becko, Lisa Marie Presley and now Crosby.
Dang. When it rains, it pours. First JB, and now Crosby.
I'm getting too old...
Rest in peace David Crosby
Thanks Goose.
A terrible year already and it’s only January. Lost another musical great. RIP another legend gone.
Nice work here.
Loved CSN as a kid of 12 in '69.
Still do.
RIP, David Crosby.

I really hope that Crosby and Nash healed their differences before he passed on.
Oh my, we are losing so many from the beautiful generation 😪.
Well done for doing this Ramon.

great
Wasn't his father a famous movie director or camera guy?
First cinematographer to win an Academy Award. Later did High Noon. Was blacklisted in the 50s during the Red Scare. Floyd Crosby.
Such a beautiful voice!!!
Joe Lang here. Watsapp me.
Ever since he commented on Eddie Van Halen’s death with a ‘MEH’ he has been dead to me.
After what he said about Eddie Van Halen's death, who cares?
I doubt they went the same place anyways.
Agreed .
awww.......
Like you know? Like any of us does?
Liked Stephen Stills and Graham Nash never cared for David Crosby his attitude towards others and other musicians was horrible
Stephen Stills, how about a show on him? Unsung guitar hero
He had his moments of controversy... He wasn't afraid to stand up to anyone. Sometimes good, sometimes not...
Couldn't afford liver #3?.🍺🍸
Shame.
