  • There's nothing in fishing I enjoy more than going into an area I've never fished before and seeing what I can find. I did that this week, and the results were just fantastic.

    I saw you mention using a satellite card for your GPS for navigating the marsh. Where could I find something like that? I’m running a humminbird helix unit and would love to have some satellite card for my unit as well.

    Wait a minute, were you implying that red fish are making a comeback, and the population is recovering on its own? Without the government altering the limits? You mean to tell me that nature can recover all on it's own. No way. That's crazy thinking.

    • @MarshManMasson
      @MarshManMasson  Před 8 měsíci +6

      In a dynamic system, fish populations ebb and flow based on too many factors to enumerate, but certainly one of them is harvest. Anecdotal reports combined with both fisheries-dependent and fisheries-independent data indicate year-classes are almost entirely missing. Was that due to overharvest, environmental factors, or something else? At this point, it's impossible to say, but federal law requires Louisiana to manage redfish at a 30% escapement rate, and right now, we're far below that, so by law, the regulations HAVE to change, or the feds will step in and change them for us.

    • @TheSHOP411
      @TheSHOP411 Před 8 měsíci +3

      @@MarshManMasson I hear what you are saying, but look to the source of the measurement. It is skewed and I would bet you a shiny nickel, agendas are in play. But hey, I only went through LSUs Wildlife and fisheries courses in the 90s so things have probably changed .
