- There's a widespread belief among a significant subset of anglers that the location of the moon has a profound impact on the activity of fish and game. I've never put much stock in so-called solunar tables, but a series of events -- including my most recent trip -- is making me think there might something to all this.

Todd, I’m sure you’ve already tried this, but on the slim chance that you haven’t;
I love to fish the major time of the solunar on the night of a full/fuller moon. The submarines come out to feed. An added bonus is the epic wildlife viewing, that only happens at night. There’s nothing quite like it.
I also think it pays off to fish when everyone else is working like normal people.
I haven’t found a day of the week yet where everyone is working

My grandfather used to plan his trips to the camp in Buras by finding the right tides to go with the 1st and last quarter moons. I can 't tell you how many times we caught more than a 100 trout, reds, bull croakers and drum. We fished English Bay, Bay Joaquin, Bay Scofield and Cyprien. Those were great times, from 1966 - 1990.
I also question the solunar period - always figured even a broken clock is right twice a day! However, sometimes it appears to click - last week in my kayak solunar tables said 2pm was the beginning of the period. Not a huge haul, but most of my fish were caught between 2pm and 3:30pm!
As a native of your neighboring state to the east, I’m very jealous of the area y’all have to fish! Another great video!

Todd I heard that most of the marsh has depleted in Empire and is nothing like it was. I want to make a trip that way again, but it’s been since the 90’s and wondered what it looks like.
Lot of land loss. But they’re doing a lot of river diversion projects to re build the land
Lots of marsh still on the east side, but very little on the west side.
Albeit not a perfect science, I’ve seen far too often a bite go berserk around a major or a minor. All that said, you can’t catch em on the couch! Keep the videos coming brother!
Todd I just noticed that it looks like your trolling motor is not a salt water variety. Is that true? Have you had any problems with corrosion?

Mines not a saltwater model n I fish same areas he does and zero problems
