This same malfunction happened to my 2014 Toyota Fortuner at 109,000 km. Had to have the instrument cluster replaced as I couldn't find anyone to repair it. At 165,000 km the symptoms reappeared. This time the sending unit in the tank had to be replaced. Seems that both types of malfunction are commonplace in Fortuner/Hilux of this vintage.
Thanks for this, I had the 1/4 tank,no fuel problem a few months ago and finally researching what the issue might be. I was going to start looking at the fuel tank,😅 this has probably saved me hours of work.

No need to change the resistor?
Fuel guage toyota problem world wide
R308 and R309 was it Sep 2023 when you solder 1 leg it falls off meaning the other side off, lost 2x needle widths of fuel after.
What about for a 2012 (KUN25R) hilux, The circuit board is different
Are you sure? They should be the same? Has it happened to your 2012?
sir you just soldered them Or did any resistance change also
Just re solder, no resistors we’re changed. If you take it into a Toyota dealer I’ve been told they do it for free 🤙🏼
Please ans brother
