I know that company! they are way overpriced but at least they will do it for you. Praxair and Air Gas are cheaper (last time they charged me $.99 a liter) but they want you to buy huge quantities and require background checks.
Please can you two do a collab one day, I've been subbed to both of you for months and love all your vids
+Lewis Massie I SECOND THIS THAT WOULD BE AWESOME
+Everett D. samw
That would be really cool to see, a collab.
HEY!! Its Cody!!
I'm really enjoying his new videos!
The feeling is mutual .. except about yours. Let's collab?
+Grant Thompson - "The King of Random" I'm digging this possible collab, please do it!
Oh wow I didnt expect u to be here
please let this collab happen!!
Oh, it you again...
Oh cool, just go to the store with the big "Industrial and Medical Gases" sign on it. I see those on every block. Lol.
SmithsonianSamurai they are so common that i have never se en one in my life
SmithsonianSamurai google, took me thirty seconds...
Confirmation bias does wonders here.
Until you actually start looking, you won't ever notice it was there. Go out, and look. I've seen a few on my way home from work today, albeit I do live in a highly populated area. It might not be the same in rural areas, but I'm sure you can go to your local big city and find something close by.
They will deliver. I took care of my mother the last few years of her life while she had emphesema and COPD. She was on oxygen at all times. The medical gases company delivered LOX to a larger dewar at the side of my house weekly.
AirGas if you have one near you may have it.
3:14 When that kid becomes a teenager he's gonna be a pro at takin hits from a bong
Guitarfollower22 he already is
"Bong? please, I inhaled cooler stuff"
Oh he was gettin high off nitrogen for sure...
ENOUGH FREAKING SPIDER THINGS ON THE ACCOUNT DUDE.
I thought you were going to put that popped-out tripod leg in the liquid nitrogen, cool it down and shrink it, then much easier pop it back, or not! I think it would work
Did I just see someone I'm subscribed to in the comments of someone else I'm subscribed to?
I think it would have worked. I'm not sure why I didn't think of that!
+Grant Thompson - "The King of Random" make a video of you trying
Maybe you should warm up your tripod leg a little bit.
Or the third option: warm up one of your tripod leg and cool down another one haha
I was thinking the same. But at second thoughts, if you try to force it into the socket at -180 Celcius or so, it will probably shatter into pieces.
For anyone wondering, I buy my liquid nitrogen from a welding supply store. It's also sold by airgas suppliers, and businesses dealing in industrial and medical gases. Shout-out to cameron if you're watching. Nice to meet you :)
Hey grant!
+Grant Thompson - "The King of Random" how long does it last in the container and how do you store it?
You are amazing could u ever reply to me
My friend figured out how to make it by himself a few days ago. He turned over a compressed air can for cleaning keyboards and sprayed. There is a white foam, which turnstiles into what he thinks is liquid nitrogen. It is really cold.
Hi Grant, I hope you are having a wonderful day! :)
When i figured out that you passed away i cried and i didn’t believe it may you rest in peace ☮️
Same. I just realized a couple days ago. :(
really how he dead
tv for everyone paramotoring accident he crashed and died on impact
😩
WAIT HE DIED???
I see the $4.95 and I'm like "lets get it!!!!" But then I see the $85.00 and i"m like, "youknowwhatnevermind"
walter levin that's 20 liters if your American that's about 5 gallons
walter levin If you're American, it would only be about 10 bucks to get an amount of liquid nitrogen that would fit in a standard pop bottle.
walter levin that is exactly what I thought. I guess I will stick to dry ice lol.
$4.95 per liter is cheaper than expected... but still expensive to get anything fun done.
٧
When the tripod broke, I thought you were going to dip it in liquid nitrogen to shrink it so it would fit back together.
+RickMakes hahahahahahah
+RickMakes Same
Me too
HAHA same
Me too haha
2:56 He was about to close the trunk and the kid was standing in the way. RIP kid
LOL
I don't think he would die from that
why am i thinking of happy tree friends?? :D
I thought the same thing.
**THUNK**
Hi Grant, not sure if it's been discussed yet but if you're going to store nitrogen in your dewar for any period of time you should use a foam plug that fits snugly enough to prevent outside air from entering the dewar. Reason being that oxygen in the air will liquefy on contact with liquid nitrogen. As the nitrogen in the dewar slowly evaporates, the oxygen stays liquid due to it's higher relative boiling point, and you'll eventually have a high concentration of liquid oxygen which can be dangerous if there are any organic subtances inside the dewar (oils, dirt, etc). Just a heads up, stay safe!
rest in peace, king!
"Apparently my kid is at a field trip"
Back in my day, we had to get a parent's signature to go on a field trip
I'm thinking his wife signed the slip, but failed to tell him about it
When I was a kid not everybody had email, so if you didn't have a physically signed permission slip or forgot to bring it in, my school would call my mom to ask her permission
He probably signed it a really long time ago and forgot about it.
His wife probably signed it
+A.J. Vasquez That's when I was a kid too! Oh wait, our school still does that.
You can fix your tripod with liquid nitrogen. Just dip the leg ball on it, it will contract and fit into the socket.
+Helder Savietto no one asked...
+Helder Savietto that didn't even remotely make sense
+Helder Savietto woooow. how original. that was the best come back ever dang.
if you just removed the last sentence . it would have been perfect
+ice veins in hindsight, you are right. Not my best moment, I admit. Talking like a 5th grader is never the best comeback.
Maybe your wife can start
Queen of random?
360 Jeremy yes she should do that that would be funny
She needs to go to a real work and pay for all his stuff xD
haha lol
How about the queen of organized
David Hernández you need to work on your grammar
award for best dad ever goes to this guy
Clorox Bleach #9743 he didn't even know his kids were on a field trip
i wonder what happens if you were mixed with liquid nitrogen
Clorox Bleach, I've got a Giant Turd for you to clean up. It's all over the floor and the walls. Lmao!!
plasmicats Well! Time to find out! 😈
Liquid nitrogen is hella dangerous tho
You could have used the liquid nitrogen to fix the tripod. The cold would have had shrunk the plastic and it would be easier to place into the bearing. Heating up the bearing in the tripod with a heat gun/hair drier would make it even easier.
It would probably be so brittle it would shatter
+Brotato yeah thats the main problem otherwise itd probably work
But it could break the tripod as well
I would actually have tried to use liquid nitrogen to fix the tripod, but it might break even more, so in the end I would probably have to buy a new one.
+TheSupergary69 Was thinking the exact same thing, you beat me to it :P
That's not condensed water vapor, that's your kid!
nivlac Oops, sorry I didn't realize :P
+BecauseIIGotHigh Lulz.
+BecauseIIGotHigh Well, to be fair, we're made of a lot of water :D
Viproz Sure, water, and we ARE very condensed but we don't name our children meat are we? xD
BecauseIIGotHigh Hum, at least someone called his "boy" meat *Super Meat boy* ;)
teaching your children to vape that young? this dude's got it down.
StrawHatLuffy !o!
StrawHatLuffy lol
lol
Hobart Grappledonger look more like he was hitting a gravity bong
Hobart Grappledonger dude really, there are children doing worst than that and it's not even vaping
You're really creative with names! I didn't even know your son is named: "Condensed Water Vapor"! That's so cool!
Wait what
You should make a vlog channel, seems like you have an interesting life going on, would love to get an insight into it :D
+ShatterNightmare I'm considering it. I'm just not sure who would really want to watch?
I would watch your vlogs!
+Grant Thompson - "The King of Random" I would
+Grant Thompson - "The King of Random" I would
+Grant Thompson - "The King of Random" I would
2:56 that's where my heart almost stops, and my imagination hand stops you from closing your car boot.
Wait what?
+FreedomFallout If you look back you can see, that he looks at his son right before he close the door
probably true but also hilarious that he didn't know about the fieldtrip.
same. PHEW
ze Leonidas d
Rest in peace man, I'm going to miss him.
shhhh
Your wife is great for letting you do this stuff
She cant tell him what to do
Hey guys. What's going on today?
Shut up u waste man
Hi!
+Grant Thompson - "The King of Random" wacht youtube and u
hi hello wazzup
why dont you do an intro anymore
Out of curiosity, would that tripod ball get slightly smaller if you put it in the liquid nitrogen? Maybe small enough to slip back into that socket?
it would probably become really brittle and break
+Recon.777 the ball is probably irregularly shaped that's why it popped out when he pushed it to the side. if he tried inserting it sideways instead of straight on, I bet it would go in much easier.
I think it would work.
He just isn't strong enough
wondering the same thing... my uncle work at steel construction thingy they had to pieces of steel that had to fit together there where like 2 mm difference so they heated one up to red hot and the other peace in liquid nitrogen they put them together and its a super tight fit....... sry for bad english ....im Norwegian
How long can you leave the tank sitting around before it turns back into a gas?
That container is the leader of vape nation.
#vapenashyall
I guess it's probably safe from spillage with such a wide dewar flask in the van, but were you nervous at all about a hypoxia risk the first time you were driving it home?
+NightHawkInLight I was wondering the same. I would probably have had all of the windows down.
Seems strange seeing another popular youtuber commenting on someone else's vid. I watch your vids too!
+NightHawkInLight - Here in Denmark where we operate from, there is definitely also a legal asspect to this. You are not allowed to transport LN2 in the same cabin as the driver.
LN2 expands around 700 times going from its boiling point to room temperature, so those 20 L could potentially expand to 14000 L or 14 cubic meters. That would definitly put you at risk, even in a minivan. However, you could just open a window and as long as you don't spill, there is almost no evaporation frow a good quality dewar, those will keep LN2 liquid for weeks, so you would be just fine.
+NightHawkInLight Not at all. Hardly any LN2 escapes the dewer, and there are plenty of natural air leaks in the van. The real concern would be if there was a crash and the dewar spilled over. But in that case the windows would most likely all be broken as well.
+Grant Thompson - "The King of Random" What car are you hoping to get and will you make a vid on it?
3:23 we get it you vapr
Vape
lol
You ruined it
I WAS JUST ABOUT TO COMMENT THAT
Lol
Doesn't know kids on field trip 😂😂👏🏻👏🏻 great dad
put the broken tripod end in liquid nitrogen so that it contracts and quickly put it back in the socket
He might've been able to fix the tripod with the liquid nitrogen- dip the ball into the LN so that it shrinks making it easier to jam it into the socket.
I totally thought thats why he was talking about his tripod !!!!! I was so disappointed when that didn't happen....
Me too.
i was thinking that too xD
the thing would probably break, pliers would do just fine
if he left it in their to long yes, but a quick dip and shake is all it would take, Hey that rhymed!
He's secretly asking for a new car and tripod from his viewers.
This hurt in 2020 RIP king, we love and miss you
How do I explain the weird mix of happy and sad and nostalgia all at once 😢
he is stealing it from trains he replaces nitrogen with water :p
+Zaxaris Petixos solid breaking bad reference
+Blake Calabrese let s cook some meth xD
+Blake Calabrese mostly gas actually
Does anyone know where I can buy liquid nitrogen?
Either he doesn't talk to his son or he doesn't care about him. It's kinda sad. He didn't know his son had a field trip.
it change at 2:57 because he hit the kid in the head with the door
I saw that too lol!
+Brandon Grant He saw him there. He looked right at him.
but he still could have hit him
XD
Omg hey Grant I love ur videos!!
I love how when it hits the concrete it boils & looks just like water would on a hot plate.
Thanks to grant I know where I can buy the gases I need to weld with RIP you were a great man
3:07 #VapeNation
Ripping the fattest clouds
+C Spam Hype Do you guys have anything natural, like mountain dew or cheetos?
\/ /\
Exactly XD I use it as an ironic meme
vape naysh y'all
even tho thats only water vape i still would not let my 5 year old son huff that dude
Yeah water vapor is bad for you sorta like inhailing humidifier water vapor
+gmaxsc lack of O2 aswell
I mean, it's vapor from his breath and the nitrogen really doesn't pose a threat. So long as you don't stay down longer than you can hold your breath you should be fine.
an engineer at nasa working on the space shuttle stuck his head into an engine compartment that was filled with nitrogen and suffocated.
did you know that he is breathing in the same amount of nitrogen from the container as he would breath from the air?....
We get it your son vapes
Lol
Lmao
Read that wrong
What happens if you pour molten metal in liquid nitrogen
The container explodes
cool
filip The one Backyard Scientist covered this.
metal happens

Close your eyes and listen to 3:30 to 3:39
omfg lol
BAHAHAHAHAHA
sounds normal to me... think you suffer from too much internet.
well im pretty sure it has nothing to do with internet :D
btw LOL
I didn't know when it was at 3:39 because my eyes were closed
here in England I had to buy some for my physics project and it cost less per litre than Fiji water haha
what you did?
+Alexandre Junior we ordered it through a company that supplies gas bottles
+Daniel White what was your project?
+Harry Ward oh I was looking at the breaking forces that had to be applied to acrylic at varying temperatures. I chose it because I just to do some air rifle shooting and we wore acrylic glasses for protection and something the pellets would bounce back and hit your glasses. I wanted to calculate the force a pellet would place on the acrylic if you were to be hit by one of these "bouncers" and whether at temperature in winter the glasses were likely to fracture more easily. tbh I didn't need liquid nitrogen but it was a bit of fun and helped obtain a better calibration curve. i basically used a vaccine chamber and dropped ball bearings onto strips of 3mm thick acrylic and shattered them, then calculated the force required. I then set about using a high speed camera to measure the speed that the pellets flew at and then estimating that a pellet bounces back at roughly 1/3 the speed it approaches the target at. I used this to calculate the force applied when hitting he glasses and therefore the pressure (since there are about 2mm in diameter) when hitting the glasses. I used the pressure and force from the pellet and the force and pressure from the vaccine tube experiment at different temperatures to determine the temperature required for the glasses to shatter on impact with a bouncer (it was about -100 degrees c so we didn't need to worry). I also determine what would happen if you shot a pair of glasses directly and I found that the pellet would go straight through at about -30. it was a good project but it was riddles with inaccuracies such as estimation of pellet speed, surface areas of ball bearings, the temperature of the acrylic in the chamber (I used an IR scanner but it was always changing even though it was in a vacuum), the fact that glasses are convex specifically to help strengthen them from collisions and a whole host of estimations and mathematical quirks. but yeah it was fun to do. I'm a biologist so my physics work isn't the best
If I were to spill that amount of Liquid Nitrogen I would be like there goes my $4
What is the cheapest container that I could use to store liquid nitrogen? That Coleman container? And do I have to keep it open at the top so pressure doesn't build up in it? How long does it keep?
shrink the ball with the liquid nitrogen, and put it back in the socket, then let itwarm up and expand.
Insta life ban!
Helge Frisenette
?
Plastic doesn't shrink when it gets cold, it just gets brittle. Some plastics actually shrink when they are heated, however they don't expand again once cooled.
+Brandon Fowlkes kinda the kind of plastic they use for Shrinky Dinks, you know, that toy that you draw on and then put into the oven to shrink?
Ocean Sparkle
am i the only one who loves these videos?
Yes, seeing there are 22 thousand views right now, you are the only one who loves these.
Probably
+Boltove
coughcough5.6milsubscoughcough
nope you are not alone. haha
Ye you are. The other 5.665.892 people just subbed to him to know which videos not to watch.
Worker: "We charge by weight"
30 secs later....
"They charge $4.25 per liter"
Well.... someone's wrong lol
Density = weight/volume, they measure the weight and use the known density to calculate volume.
Propane is filled by weight sold by the gal.
I'm going to make a fridge that doesn't run on electricity but liquid nitrogen, will it work?
4:20 that moment when you get high off of liquid nitrogen.
I see what you did there.
Lol
eksentrysyti but legit at 4:20 he is sniffing the liquid nitrogen.
Careful! Breathing pure nitrogen will turn out the lights real quick!
You don't get high off nitrogen, the air is over 70% nitrogen.
The only thing it does is asphyxiate you.
You're thinking of nitrous oxide.
"I'm not that strong"
a healthy middle-aged man with fairly big muscles... okay...
+Lucian Rex
no thats not muscle. thats 4 parentheses.
+The Young Gamer lmao
Can I step on it?
why!?!!?
could have used the nitrogen to cool the ball joint a little bit and then try to put it in then. I know that you could have risked breaking it but it was already broken anyway.
I actually like this format better than the weird studio step-by-step voice on his older vids.
Stick the leg that does not fit into some liquid nitrogen if you can find some. I will shrink and get back into the tripod.
I was looking for this comment, good idea pal
had the same idea the second he said it popped out lol
so whats the shelf life?
Yeah Yeah i always wondered
1 or 2 days depending on how much heat goes into the dewar.
a week perhaps...... it would be better if he had filled it in a thermos type gas cylinder..but i think they are expensive
Depends on the dewar, I've got a 60 day tank, after 60 days it's all pretty much evaporated, but that's if I don't use it and leave it closed up, less time if I use it and it boils off faster.
What is your educational background?
***** Of course not. I'm just curious. That's all.
Hamid Al he just spend 100 dollars on freezy sauce and poured it on the fukken ground
currently trying to preserve my cat's dna in liquid nitrogen (for later cloning hopefuly). Very helpful video!

SPREAD THE WORD BROTHA!!!!
I want to throw 20l of liquid nitrogen on Vapenation.
How are you verified?

Who else saw that nice car at 1:03 down on the road?
Just a Camaro convertible
+Wtrxprs007able yes. and this cat is not nice
Andrej Walter IDK, looked kinda sexy 2 me.
+edi bahtiri ok!
Dudes its A Nissan lol ..
you could also get a propane tank turn it upside down attach a small hose and open it up while its upside down and it will give you a cheaper vertion of liquid nitrogen its boiling point is around -350 f so its similar to liquid nitrogen and will work just for a little cheaper
3:22
cant imagine these kids are orphans now
They are not orphans they have a mother

You keep this up Grant, and you'll have to actually introduce us to your family proper, you know...
+L.D. Johnson And then it's all down hill from there...
+L.D. Johnson why?
+Serrara Fluttershy I barely know Grant kids name
Hans jerkov I don't think Grant has said
Serrara Fluttershy Exactly
What I thought you were going to dip the tripod in the liquid nitrogen to shrink it and plug it back in the socket.
In completely unrelated new liquid nitrogen deaths have increased 9000%
Can you start a fire by cooling a piece of wood to its combustion point with liquid nitrogen?
Could I kill a lot of weeds in a garden using liquid nitrogen?
And grass too!
+Adam Workey Why you would kill weed? :(
+Moner R 420 blaze it m9
Amsterdaaaaamn
+Adam Workey Some, yes, temporarily, mostly, and probably only small ones.
If you don't mind the look, lay down cardboard over the patch of dirt you want clean for a few weeks. Everything under it will die.
So how long does it last unused in that container or the common containers? Or are there any condition on buying it?
I always wanted to know that, too
Who are you kidding you wont buy. any
+Nikori Jung With a dewar like this it lasts about 4 months, surprisingly! :) ..of course .. I've never actually kept it that long. ...
+Grant Thompson - "The King of Random" hi
+Nikori Jung you can also buy a pressurized tank I guess?
Long live T.K.O.R
The beading is from the leidenfrost effect, google can explain it far better than I could. In short it is the temperature difference between the concrete and the Nitrogen, which causes the nitrogen to boil and have a vapor barrier. One of the most obvious effects is the beading and virtually no friction.
He knows the leidenfrost effect, but his kids propably don't ;)
Your sons name is condensed water vapor?
Just watching his videos in memory 😔
Z4ND3RRR and his kids were out there running around happy 😓
This is random, but your lawn looks great. Nitrogen in rain helps the grass to grow. How would liquid nitrogen help plant life?Use two tomato plants as the subjects.
This may have been suggested already but 3400+ comments is too many to read. If you haven't trashed or returned the tripod yet, try dipping the ball end into the liquid nitrogen then try to stick it back into the socket. This should shrink it enough to fit and hopefully it won't shatter as it goes in.
That is the first video what I'm watching from him and the first thing what I think is that he looks like Dean from Supernatural haha
(sorry for this bad english I'm from Germany)
that's what I thought!
Now how long will it keep in that container?
+daniellclary In another comment he said about four months.
+seigeengine Thanks, was missing that info. It is surprisingly long.
gamingSlasher Dewars are very good at preventing heat moving across their walls.. Again, they're like an industrial grade thermos. There's virtually zero heat getting in from the walls of the container, so the main infiltration of heat is from the small air gaps in the top, but remember that when you pour liquid nitrogen out, the "smoke" hugs the ground... because it's cold, and denser than the air, so the cold nitrogen gas produced as the liquid nitrogen evaporates fills the rest of the dewar, and insulates it from much air (and therefor heat) getting in. Also remember that this dewar is carrying a lot of liquid nitrogen. The more there is the more energy has to leak in to heat it up to evaporate it.
-hey kid, whatcha doin' ?
-vapin' some liquid nitrogen, ty for askin'
- keep some for later , k ?
yeah i know is just condensed water
You could dip the knob end of your broken tripod leg into the liquid N2 to shrink it a tad and then click it back into the socket....
You could have cooled down the tripod leg in nitrogen and warmed the socket with a hair dryer xD Maybe would have worked
Befo4eGaming
Lol
What is that tax rate? $6.13 on $89.50? That isn't 6% or 7%.
Khaltazar no 19%
It's about 6.8%
mjr102395 You apparently didn't get my point. My main question is why are they using such a weird tax rate? It should be 6% or 7%, not some random 6.8%~.
if you take a big cup of liquid N2 on a hot, humid summer day and toss it in the air, it'll form a cloud and snow for a couple seconds.
grant, your kids will be at the top of their science classes when they enter school

You can actually quickly dunk your hand into it. The flash boiling creates a vapor barrier.

dude
The beads of liquid nitrogen are cause by a phenomenon known as the Leidenfrost effect you can get water to do that with a hot plate or a pan on the stove
put the main tripod body in boiling water or just very hot water will do for like 20 seconds. Pop the tipod leg in no problem. If that still doesn't work the water needs to be hotter and it in longer like 40 seconds. You can also put the loose tripod leg in the freezer for a 5-10 minutes. Should pop right in easily. Do not use the liquid nitrogen as many have suggested. It will make the plastic super brittle and cause the item to crack. Even if it doesn't crack now and works for now. You would seriously have weakened the plastic and greatly reduce the longevity of the tripod. The item will fail prematurely.
R.I.P

You have a very patient wife. Wasn't it dangerous for your son to put his nose in the top of the container and breath in almost pure nitrogen, especially since it was still super cooled?
I like how this video is more "Chilling With Grant + Buying Liquid Nitrogen"
