    If you can afford the difference, always go with the deckover model. You want that box elevated so you can keep a tight pile if you want. Also so you dont hang up in little spots like this.

  • @joebarrett9830
    @joebarrett9830 Před 2 lety

    Tire pressure looked low on passenger side rear tire of the dump trailer. Correct tire pressures would have raised the trailer off the ground higher (less likely to catch debris when pushed out). The trailer isn't riding level on both axles. For optimal control while pulling everything should be the same plane (truck and trailer). Once the trailer is up for the dump, yes, the weight is off the rear of the truck significantly. If this happens, let whatever you are dumping come out as much as possible, lower the dump bed back down and then try to get unstuck with 4X4. By lowering the dump you are putting the weight back onto the rear truck tires. Once you have moved up, dump again. Repeat as necessary. I have a F450 crew cab that I pull my dump trailer with. I figured out how to get out by lowering the dump back down and pulling forward a ittle, then dump again. I have had to lower my dump twice to get the full load to come out before. My truck is rear wheel drive only. If you have everything set up properly and have good tires, it shouldn't be much of a problem unless you are on ice or sink to the axles, which I have also done. Luckily the way I had my trailer built, I was able to lift the trailer up off the ground as well as the truck's read drive tires, shovel stone that I was hauling under all of the tires. Lower everything back down and pull out of the situation I was in. 4X4 would have helped a lot.

    My Aunt is really wanting to do a trailer business, except she was wanting to clean out sheds and barns by hand and I don't have the back for that anymore, I hauled for family dollar and dollar general back in the early 2000's and unloading freight off the floor back then was how I ruined my back! I give her the idea about getting a dump trailer so I could haul aggregate between her finding haul off job's, but she's got to find someone to load the trailer!
    So it's difficult to figure out all the logistics unfortunately.
    Checked with my pallet buyer only one that we have and 3.00 per pallet is topped out pay pretty much. He said that occasionally he'll go $4.50 a pallet if they're oak pallets in a perfect condition only been used once. So he warned of the forklift driver's wallet's being padded by the guy who wants all the pallets being likely to tell you falsely that it's under contract, crazy right !?!

      Consider what you plan on hauling and the frequency. Also, will you need to go up/down hills often? A half-ton (any of them, really) would be more than adequate for most junk hauling jobs, but would struggle if you need it to pull dirt/roofing/rock/etc often. Try to keep what you tow at about 70--80% of stated capacity and only max out your capacity on rare occasions and with great care.
