How do we get clean drinking water?

  • You wake up in the middle of the night with a dry mouth and go to the kitchen to quench your thirst or come from the outside after a tiresome day and take a refreshing shower to unwind.
    Regardless of the time, you can access water for any kind of consumption thanks to a seemingly simple but vital system: City water supply. As you know, water goes through a number of processes before it starts to pour down from your sink. But how does city water work?
    Water makes up the bigger portion of our planet; however, usable water comes from either surface water or groundwater. Public water systems get the water from these sources to a treatment plant through a process called catchment.
    After a series of other processes like coagulation, screening, ozonation, and filtration, the water becomes suitable for human consumption. Then municipal water systems distribute the water to the whole area via pumps, and we enjoy our showers or wash our vegetables thanks to the home water connection.
    Seeing the flow of usable water once you open the tap may seem simple due to the regularity of the practice. However, there is a complex system and a lot of working hours behind the process that makes it possible.
    If you want to know more about how water systems work, get yourself a glass of water and enjoy watching this video!

      Sweet? I mean I know the country side comes from wells but I mean I'd say it's the same process but it does taste different. I know I looked this up sometime ago & id say I don't remember a damn thing. But I watched half way threw and I remember now 😊. It goes through more separation and more filtering and chemicals. Ok, ill watch till finish just to see if my memory is correct. Still wouldn't answer y it tastes different tho. Well water tastes freakin metallic

    Jackson, Mississippi, US, has no clean drinking water in August, 2022. They don't know why but their Water Department is broken. Residents have been warned not to bathe or brush their teeth with the tainted Water. Some areas of the city have no Water, at all. Jackson is home to 180,000 Humans, and, there's no solution in sight.

    The internet doesn't answer my question. Yes or no question. Is reverse asmosis water actually water that once passed through someone's intestines into the toilet and became purified and sold into water bottles? I really don't want a complicated answer just a yes or no or some bottles.

      They’re not

    • @Mackinac_Man
      @Mackinac_Man Před rokem +1

      It’s not. The levels are very low for safe water consumption. Chlorine is important to maintain because the water still has to travel in many miles of pipe before reaching the tap. Old pipes may have hairline cracks that allow other materials to enter the water. That’s is why water is not only tested hourly at a water plant, but daily/weekly at locations that have high water demand such as laundry mats, restaurants, and schools for bacteria and other inconsistencies.
