One of the reasons listening to Thomas Quasthoff is such a delight, is the fact that he sings with superb phasing of the words. As a Dane with a shaky German, it is such a joy to hear the words! Bravo 🙌

I have some friends in the Tanglewood Festival Chorus, and they said when he was at the BSO for some concert, he was the nicest guy, perfect English, friendly to everyone. That's even more impressive to me given what he went through.

In reading into the history of the thalidomide scandal and history, I learned about Thomas Quasthoff, only seven years younger than I. This is the first time I've seen and heard him. What an amazing, beautiful and expressive singer.

I have never understood as an American why anyone considers Germanic Slavic Or Euralic languages to be gutteral and nasty sounding. I think the Magic Flute sounds beautiful sung in German as Mozart intended it to be. And German Slavics and Euralic languages I think are beautiful when spoken.
