    No body ever shows or talks about how to keep critters out the garden...
    This is a well needed topic 🙌

      I have carrots growing and found rodents are not interested in them, they love to eat: neighbors' feeding peanuts the most, bigger edible seeds I put down (so I learnt to cover them for a while with 1/2" square mesh) then worms! I do have secure space that was built with wood framed, then cover the frame with 1/2" square mesh then with screen (top side for getting free rain water and fresh air) rest sides with clear tarp. When it is near frost, make a clear tarp top so you can extend the harvest time and start the growing season earlier!

    I use a sand/soil mixture so there is zero resistance for the carrots to grow. Add amendments as you normally would. Cover and watch them grow.😃

      That's great tip! do remember, water drains from sandy soil very quickly so you will have to water more often.

      @@alpeshrodage I've tried a couple times, but never got it started early enough to really get going before it started cooling off again. I'd get maybe a flower or two, but then they'd just stop growing. This year, I'll be getting them started indoors probably next week, then keep them in my greenhouse in pots, since it rarely stays warm enough at night here even in the heat of summer.

    He doesnt tell you about carrot flies and their maggots which devastate your carrots. Stick to the supermarket.

    • @DaisyCreekFarms
      @DaisyCreekFarms  Před 6 měsíci +6

      They spray toxic pesticides on your non organic supermarket food which ends up in the vegetables and fruit which you eat. I run an organic farm and in our inspect by the state of California, i asked if they will be taking soil samples and they said no, i asked why, they said they will take fruit samples because they can detect pesticides and herbicides used in the fruit to determine if it was grown organic or non-organic, that's the fruit and vegetables we are eating. Better pay a lot more for organic from supermarket or grow your own if you do not want to eat poisons.

      about an inch away from the trench,I drizzle a line of cheap olive oil the length of the row. canola oil is thinner so disappears too quick but, you could reapply a second line about 2 to 3 weeks later.then, another inch away from the oil row, a line of wood ash all the way. just don't use pine,spruce or cedar (the ph balance and turpentine will 'burn' seedlings). very fine ground up egg shells also help. oils and ash smother a lot of bug/worm/fungal issues. hope the instructions help...it's hard to type the little 'how to' video playing in my head. 😁 happy planting!!! 💕
