  • Overnight urban camp at beacon hill Halifax.
bivvi bag camping in cold winter temperatures. Overnight temperature dropped down to -1°C or even -2°C.
Beacon hill is a great place for an overnighter camp and it's a great view of Halifax Town centre.

Another good video Dan. No need to apologise to others that it's not that cold here in the UK. -1 degrees C in the UK with its high humidity is quite a lot more uncomfortable and potentially more dangerous than the much lower temps some other countries experience during winter. As a rough rule of thumb temps below approx -7C the humidity becomes extremely low which is why you will not see your breath or get frost on your vehicle's windscreen/windshield at temps lower than around -7C because everything is actually very dry. In the UK its not uncommon to have 80% to 90% or even higher humidity in the winter. It's the cold damp/moisture that chills you to the bones sucking the heat from you via conduction. A good friend of mine lives in Canada and regularly experiences extremely cold temps but always says he feels much colder when he is here in the UK at winter time due to the damp conditions. If anyone is not convinced try sitting outside in a cold bath of water at positive 10 degrees C, guaranteed you will soon wish you were dry in minus 10 degrees C or lower. Second thoughts people, please don't try this anyone as it could prove very dangerous and not end well for you. Anyway Dan loving videos, always entertaining, keep them coming.

Thanks Dan nice vid. I have similar geartech v2 hooped bivi and never take my down bag those trips (Alpkit duck down bag - v good!!), always take my synth bag because of condensation. Really bad in mine. Especially the first winter ones, so always a summer bivi for me. I do like that bivi but the condensation can be bad.

Hi Dan, ,-2 in the UK with our damp weather can be miserable, so nice to see your friends out for an urban camp. I know that heat exchanger cookers are effective plus you use it a lot. Perhaps I could share my preference? In 1979 I bought a trangia spirit set-up, I still have & use. Of course I have replaced the worn pans and am on the 3rd burner. My point being it's super Stealthy also no noise in use. Enjoying the videos catch you soon. Allan B

Remember that people watch to see you and your experiences. I know for a fact if you're not enjoying it then the viewers won't either, so stay true to what you like and if that's woodland camps and nothing else then so be it. Basically don't feel obligated to provide content at the expense of your enjoyment, because you enjoying yourself is why everyone watches, you'll also soon lose interest in providing content. You still made the most of this camp though and appeared to enjoy it over all. When I'm demotivated, I like to remember what it is that draws me to camping in the first place, and then go somewhere that gives me that experience. Looking forward to that vegan food review when it comes, that was a nice tie-in to your other channel.
    All the best.
