I attended Yunchan Lim’s performance in Aspen, and I dare say he even surpassed his past concert. I majored a piano, but I never imagined I would be so enthusiastic about any pianist like this. His performance is like a miracle. Really need a video of it!!! It’s a treasure of this universe 😭
I wish i could see him one day😢 he is truly brilliant!!

From my post on the NY Phil version of this video: You can see and hear only a small portion of the full audience (I was there), but it was likely over 2,000 people. Yunchan had round after round of standing ovations -- plus applause from the New York Philharmonic orchestra members -- and he played two encores, an excerpt from Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, and one from Chopin's Etudes Opus 10. Without a doubt, Yunchan is a rising star with a great career ahead.

@@betsymoore6539 followed it hour by hour last year. But since he has started touring I have had access to Wigmore. Paris briefly but it is no longer available. Plenty Shorts but no full performances that are current. I would be happy to pay to see for example his debut in NYC at the Lincoln.

점점 좋아지고 있다는 평들이 이해안되는 1인 입니다..어떤 평론가들은 템포와 기량얘길하는데 전 템포가 느렸다는 반클라이번때의 연주가 제일 감명깊고 와닿았습니다. 로켓포처럼 발사된다는 클라이맥스에 ,마지막 정상을 향해 연주자와 오케가 모든 힘을 쏟아 넣는 그 순간,청중도 같이 참여할수있는 여지가 있는 템포여서 일까요..
오케와 지휘자와의 호흡이 좀 어긋난 부분에서 기어이 피아노가 맞춰나가는 모습이 있는데 그런 순간들..완성보다는 완성을향해 모든힘을 쏟아붓는 그런 순간을 영상으로 자세히 목도해서 그럴지도 모르겠습니다.
YCL의 연주에 유독 감동하는 이유는,완벽한테크닉과 레이어링,뭐 독창적인 해석 등등 이라기보단,
제가 느끼기엔 티끌없이 정직하고 순수한 음악에의 헌정에 청중들도 같이 참여할수밖에 없게 만드는, 말로 설명 불가한 그의 어떤 능력이라고 생각합니다.
어떤 대상을 위해 자신을 빼버린채 맹목적으로 순수할 수 있었던 한 때를 다시 경험 하게 해 주는 유일한 영상
입니다.
저도 공감하는 부분입니다. Van Cliburn 때도 빠른 템포로 연주 가능했을 거라고 생각합니다. Van Cliburn 전에 임윤찬 군이 연주했던 영상들 보면 그런 느낌이 들어요.
Bravo Vail 때에 비해 Van Cliburn 때의 느린 템포가 개인적으로 더 여운이 깊게 남아서인지 더 감동적이었습니다.
그리고 Van Cliburn 때는 오케 속도에 맞춰준 느낌이 들었었어요.
