- Saturation / unsaturation test of alkane / alkene by the dropwise addition of bromine water. (No audio).

To approximately 15ml of cyclohexane / cyclohexene bromine water is added. You can see the discolouration of the bromine water.
It's just so surprising and fascinating to see how the molecules would react if we were of their size! Awesome!

The reaction shown here is with pure liquid bromine. Please, correct the title.
With bromine water you willl get two layers (hydrocarbons don't mix with water) and you will have to shake.

Strictly neither. The bromine in solution breaks the double bond between C=C and bonds to the Carbons Br-C -- this soluble compound is colourless.
there will be a cloudy effect if i am not mistaken based on my chem lab practice

It doesn't disappear, it just goes colorless.
