Thank you , thank you. Came across an old Horizontal right with random water leaks. Sure. Enough. Installers never flipped it.
    Very help ful. Thanks.

There are two side plates high up on the coil that need to be swapped over as well. One screw each.

The filler plate on my install was actually glued with 2 sided foam tape, had to pry it off. Anyone came across that yet?

Great video, big time helpful. All of Hahn's videos are useful and informative. In this "flip" video what two side plates is eric1589 referring to ?

It sure would be nice if Carrier included a damn diagram showing where the clips go. I didn't know I should have taken a photo before touching anything. I think I've got the 2 clips at the bottom of the coil after watching this, but I have one big clip with a rounded opening, and I have no idea where it goes.

Have you down a video on the Carrier FB4C(S,Q)L that has a slope coil?

  • @jasonalexander6417

In a vertical application, do you need that plate on top of the coil? Does the pan that sits on the left have any use?

I have one today that wasn't flipped correctly. The 2 condensate troughs appear to need to be moved as well. Have they changed the design? One long wide, one short narrow. The unit I am working on has the long one at the front, connection side and short at the back. Parts listing seems to indicate the opposite. Also another video from carrier enterprise support seems to agree with parts diagram. My long plate has the hole offset to one side width wise while the other video and parts diagram shows holes centered in the width.

    Hello,very informative video .
Just s question, what is the material inside of the air handler / A coil frame ?
    Thank you

The "A Framed" design itself has not changed between the newer aluminum evaporator coils and older copper / tinned. Meaning, this procedure is still required.

CAN YOU INSTALL THE A COIL IN EITHER DIRECTION??? I JUST HAD AN ENTIRE NEW HVAC SYSTEM INSTALLED AND THE ACOIL ON THE OLD UNIT HAD THE WIDER OPENING OF THE 'A' FACING TOWARD THE INTAKE/WARM AIR (AND THE LITTLE NEARER THE BLOWER SIDE.....THE NEW UNIT THAT I HAD A COMPANY INSTALL HAS THE SYSTEM SET UP THE EXACT SAME WAY- BUT THEY HAVE THE A-COIL FLIPPED IN THE OTHER DIRECTION- DOES THIS MATTER/MAKE A DIFFERENCE??? PLEASE HELP!

Yes, but only one way is the correct way. The large part of the "A" needs to face where the filter is installed. If the front of "A" faces the filter the entire coil is in backwards. I've seen this done about 15+ times over the years. The first part of the video shows how the coil should look when installed within the air handler cabinet. If it's installed incorrectly, you'll have nothing but water problems and poor system efficiency as that's not how the system was designed.

@@DavidHahnHHi THANK YOU SO SO SO MUCH FOR REPLYING!!! You are AWESOME!!! I REALLY really do appreciate it!....Thank you for your expertise as well!....I am SUPER frustrated with this company I used to have my AC installed....They def did a sub-par job...If I told you all the nonsense I went through with them already- of course AFTER I already paid them a boat load of money- you would be shocked!...So I am 100% certain they have installed the A-coil backwards now....and I have had three separate 'techs' from this company come to my house now and each of the three told me something different...I certainly have MUCH more confidence in what you are telling me than any of them sadly...After receiving your reply I called them again and they are sending the 'head install manager' over to my house on Wed to take a look over it and address my 'concerns'...so I will see what he has to say...I am not too confident they are going to give me the truth...or a straight answer....but we will see....All I know is that the A-Coil has been installed opposite the way that it was on the old unit I had in the house....and NOTHING h changed when they installed the new unit (all the duct work and air direction and everything is all the same)....The only thing different is the coil they put in is now facing the other direction...and indeed- the air filter (which they FINALLY just came to install today!)- is on the 'small/peak' side of the 'A'...with the wider side facing the 'out/cold' air and the blower...I am not sure why it would be any different than the previous unit (the new one is even the same make!) It just makes no sense at all to me.....I guess I will see what they say on Wednesday.....Anyway- THANK YOU SO SO SO MUCH for your time and for your expertise getting back to me...I sincerely do appreciate it VERY much!....It certainly says a great deal about you and your company.....I only wish you were in my area- I would most def have you over in an instant!...Thanks again...If you dont mind- I will let you know how I make out on Wednesday...Have a great day!...THANKS AGAIN!!!
