- I Saw The Light from Something/Anything?
LYRICS:
It was late last night
I was feeling something wasn't right
There was not another soul in sight
Only you, only you
So we walked along,
though I knew there was something wrong
And the feeling hot me oh so strong about you
Then you gazed up at me and the answer was plain to see
'Cause I saw the light in your eyes
Though we had our fling
I just never would suspect a thing
'Til that little bell began to ring in my head
In my head
But I tried to run,
though I knew it wouldn't help me none
'Cause I couldn't ever love no one, or so I said
But my feelings for you
were just something I never knew
'Til I saw the light in your eyes
But I love you best
It's not something that I say in jest
'Cause you're different, girl, from all the rest
In my eyes
And I ran out before but I won't do it anymore
Can't you see the light in my eyes

My friend of forty years died yesterday from cancer. He was the biggest Rundgren fan ever. Nicest man as well. I thank God for the time he was here and Todd Rundgren for all the joy he brought to his life.
❤
Music will soothe your soul.
And Todd will always bring you the joy and love you had for your friend.
Hang in there brother!!!!!!
❤
Never understand why every time I hear this song I get such an overwhelming feeling of nostalgia and a deep emotion that brings tears to my eyes that I can't explain.. Todd's music has a way of reaching into my soul and ripping something out and at the same time comforting it so deep that it actually hurts and I'm thankful bc I would rather have it than not
Michelle Licari chances are, you were there. Maybe not as the you that you know now, but a different person.
@@Kerunou ❤️🤗😘
Love you...
I get it.
Exactly the same feeling!
I'm 63 and I LOVE THIS SONG as much now as when I first heard it and still get goosebumps
One of my grans favourites. She has got a copy on vinyl. I always play this when she is angry about something.
It brings a massive smile and memories of her younger days.
Same 😊
Who doesn't sing the background vocals in their head whenever they think of this song? Nobody. The guitar solo is still stuck in my mind 50 years later. This song is such a gem.
Aw, such a beautiful song!! My dad loved it! I lost him last year. Rest in peace pop.
Thanks to those who acknowledged my post, he meant so much to me and slipped away because of a sudden illness. God bless you all , (you too 🙏pop).
Lo Ely words...hope dad is flying high.
So sorry for your loss, I can relate. My dad slipped away down a mine shaft last year. He was a good man. Hope he’s having a beer up there with your dad.❤
So very sorry for the loss of your dad. You're dad had amazing taste!!!! Sending love and comfort your way.💕
that brought a tear to my eye......
Sweet memories of 1972...a 15 year old's crush...still own the 45...
This song actually is part of my life. The experience happened with a high school boyfriend. We reconnected on FB 5 months ago and he sent me this song. We were Army Brats and met overseas. He left me at 17 to join the Air Force. He lives over a thousand miles away from me now, but we are getting back together after 42 years.
You guys are the luckiest people on earth to live through that time
Great to be a Boomer!😄
I'LL GIVE YOU 100 PESOS FOR IT...

Everytime I hear this song
It's like I'm hearing it for the very first time
A timeless song by Todd Rundgren
Same here, there is something about it that makes it near impossible to say that it’s been played too many times.
I know what you mean. Some songs just hit the sweet spot each time, this is one of them! It's a true 70s classic 👌
I think its the piano that does it for me.
Kevin Mad Doc yes …it sure is.
Timeless.
@@danw1374you people are for sure speaking my language! ❤❤❤😊
an absolute slapper from ozark
Call my wife a bitch one more time and it's funny all this will smith comments
This ridiculous trend of people hearing a song in some movie or show and then acting as if this is some sort of accomplishment worth telling the world about must stop today.
Correct
Yeah, but it's the song ppl went to look up the LYRICS after hearing it on the show. It was used brilliantly.
@@kingdarius5252 the thing people treat as an accomplishment is knowing a song NOT because of a show or a movie😂 at least this guy admitted he was introduced to this song by Ozark
Hearing you all. I am 62 years old and reminiscing profusely. So many cherished memories listening to Todd.
Today was the first time hearing this song and it immediately moved me. I hope you have a great day
It is so great that music is able to connect generations. I am only 18, but this song warms my soul as if I had been listening to it for years.
Have been a huge fan of Todd since I was 12 years old. Adored - “I SAW THE LIGHT” lyrics and tune during my teenage years. 1972 boomed. May you enjoy your day too Damien.
Right there with ya Sarah. High school class of ‘78. Good times, good music.
I first heard it in June of 1972 at age 11. I understand completely
The pace, the rhythm, This is one of those unique songs that is REALLY UPLIFTING, so much that you will NEVER get tired of listening to it.
Same Me
I just played this song on loop for *2 HOURS* - my god this song makes me so happy
I've done that witha couple of Todd's songs before ❤.
Have to admit, I here 'cos of the Gala Bingo advert! 😆😆😆
same ere. 😊
Me too
Same here. 😊
Ditto!
Me too.😊
He’s got a lot of great songs and almost as impressive as what he did with bands like XTC and the Tubes to get the most out of their sound.
Put me down as another huge fan !
I always loved how each "chorus" adds something new
I never get tired of this fantastic song
I've heard this song 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 times ... and will keep listening ...
Same lol
Plus one....
I think you forgot a few zeros! Lol
@@paulisaac78 ... lol 😆
I never heard of him ,until today
One of the greatest if not the greatest songs of all times
Apparently, Todd played all the instruments and did the vocals for this. If that is true it makes this recording even more remarkable.
He did.....
he played the instruments and sang all the tracks on sides 1-3. side 4 has multiple musicians, including the Amazing Rick Derringer. what a genius. and he's produced some of our greatest bands/albums too.
Pet Sounds level genius. Putting together an album of all original songs is incredibly difficult. Not to mention doing it all by yourself...
Sounds like Carole King.
@@33Luger When I first heard it I thought it was Carole King. Not just the voice but the piano as well.
I bought this record when it came out years ago! Now 4-5-2024 still love it and listen to it!🎉❤ Patty1957
And me 🎉
❤
This song just makes me happy. 🥰
This is arguably the most perfectly crafted pop song ever recorded!

Arguably :) But what about Carole King's 'It's Too Late' ?
Andy Boerger yes good choice but what about (rich girl hall oates
@@reeceburton7864 ah, great song!
Todd Rundgren is a musical genius. Pioneer in layering tracks. Many of his songs are only him- playing all instruments and vocals, then layering them. The chord progressions of this song and the harmonies are pure musical perfection. Always brings my mind to a happy place!
Todd is genius
Another time another place. But I remember the love.
Everything you hear on this recording is him
@@Charon58 even the women backing vocals?!
@@reginacrawford5099 it's still there.
I just heard this song on Ozark season4 and it was great to hear it again after so many years. I get it.. it explained why Marty is so in love the Wendy.
Don't know the show but this rightly affected u
Sir, this is a wendy's
@@TarantuLandoCalcuLingus No this is a Marty's
Best part of that season. Wish they’d make more❤️
Actually in love they may have been but in the end they were just toxic. Great show. Great sound track. Great actors. Not so great - Ruth getting killed.
I would easily be convinced if somebody told me this song was jointly created by Carol King and George Harrison. Todd nailed it on this one....
God, every time I hear this I'm catapulted back to 1976 sitting on the beach in a heatwave with friends, the best time of my life......until I met the wife that is. 😄
Just heard this song in an episode of Ozark and had to look it up. Good tune! Reading all the reminiscent comments here tells me this must have been a lot of couples' "song."
It was a song of the times..simple, uncluttered and beautiful. Leaves a lot of the current music for dead.
My sister loved this she's gone but with this song still here!!
The sounds of my youth.. Todd R is just brilliant.
Yes Sir a TRUE Genius
Me too!!
We are all getting old. I'd give anything to be 19 again, but knowing what I know now, of course.
@@dannygray4898 Agreed! But where the heck did all that time go????🤔
This has always been my favorite oldie..I have listened to it probably at least 1000 times. You know how sometimes if you listen to a song too much it looses its special-ness? Not this one. Just wonderful!

Utterly gorgeous song Melissa
Gala bingo brought me here. Awesome!
Omds 😅 I can't talk it made me remember how much of a banger it is
Artists like Todd have an almost godly connection to the soul.
What a shame, at my age, 63, the content of this song doesn't happen to me anymore. BUT IT SURE DID IN THE 70'S - OVER AND OVER AGAIN!! Ah the memories...!
... it's never too late ... I hope you will feel it again
If they was to put this record out now i think it would be a big hit with young loves ♥️
I know what you mean! When this first came out I was 16 and had it all to come. Now I'm a grey haired old woman and nobody gives me a second glance, but this song still sounds so fresh and makes me want to dance.
Me to I'm old and grey now brings back good memories
My son used to toddle around the house singing either Todd songs or 10cc, his fourth birthday present was Knebworth fair in 1976, both played. He loved the arrow shot sound in Zen Archer (Wizard A True Star) that was his signal for bedtime...
Marty Bird rage song!! 😂😂😂 All Ozark Fans will understand, I loved this scene.
" i love you the best , it's not something that I say in jest " 💙
This brings back such memories of a future to look forward to - mountains to conquer - the world to explore - to dare ❤
Rediscovered this song after many years. Simply beautiful and i cannot stop listening to it!
It hit my ears when I was a teen in the 90s era, and it's been my most favorite song since then.
I heard this song off of Supernatural and I had to come find it.
@@reneaMichealMartin684 which episode?
Sounds so much better than before….
Sometimes you just need a little Rundgen from back in the day....
I found this song from the gala bingo ad, top tune
Nothing says 1970's better than this song. Bummer dude!!!!!!
Wendi: “This song sucks btw”
Me: “This song rules”
Thank you #Ozarks for unearthing this 💎 for me
Nobody... NOBODY... knows how to piece an album together like Todd. Every song perfectly compliments the next. I have listened to the Beatles, the Beach Boys, Wilco... I have listened to everyone. Todd is the only artist that knows how to create harmony between tracks and thereby perfectly knit an album together. Todd is in a league of his own. He has a unique talent.
That's because he was also a music producer. He was the producer on Grand Funk Railroad albums at 24 years old.
I close my eyes and I'm young again love this song so much
Simply one of the best songs EVER written.
What a timeless classic! Every time I hear it I'm back to the 70’s, what joy!🥰
A song like fine wine. Perfectly beautiful. Oddly, I used to think George Harrison played the guitar.
I don't blame you... it definitely sounds like something Harrison would have put out.
Crunch Stick Todd, at the age of 23, played all the instruments on this song
George Harrison didn't even play lead guitar on his own song "While My Guitar Gently Weeps."
His close friend Eric Clapton was hired to do it.
@@brendenallen would've made sense, in some ways - they ran in the same circles at the time. co-produced "straight up" for badfinger
I see why, it's certainly the same style of slide guitar playing, with layered harmonies which Harrison's music features slot of. Good call!
I used to go to his house as a kid and hang out with Liv Tyler and Rex and Randy. He is a really nice guy 😊
Lovely song . And a good singer . Xxx
Gala Bingo brought me here... it's one of those breezy, feelgood songs I can listen to over and over again.
I heard this playing TWICE at my shift at work today... needless to say, it was a really great day
Timeless masterpiece. My high school crush gave this song to me. I'm forever thankful. Gonna pass this on generations to come.
Let's hope the generations to come are interested.
Played this over and over on the 8 track with boyfriend, who's been my husband for 48 years.
This song is just wonderful!!
Yes wonderfully Neil Sedaka
Ozark KILLED it with the music this season. This, Twilight Zone by Golden Earring, and Renegade by Styx!
It's so great to see all these comments from folks like me who survived the 70s and their feelings about Todd Rundgren. His music just reaches into you and tugs at your heart and soul. Personally it reminds me of all the get togethers and breakups that are just distant memories but never completely gone. Thank you Todd Rundgren!!!!
Bateman: how many punches?
Netflix: Yes!
Ahhhh! The 70's! The best of times for me 😍😍
I saw the light is a beautiful song that sounds new each time I listen to it! Takes me into a wonderful place; it will never be old to me.
Ozark.... What I will say about Netflix... The soundtracks they have are amazing.
Is it normal to listen to this like 10 times
Make that 90 times
Certainly is
Ozark brought me here and I'm glad it did. This song is 🔥🔥🔥
Very uplifting and nostalgic hearing this bringing back better days.... 😢
That song you put on during a road rage incident ...
Todd is finally being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this October 2021. Can you believe it took that long?
This song made radio listening enjoyable. Great summer song!
Without question one of the most beautiful pop songs of all time. Todd wrote some stellar songs in the early 70s that are impossible to forget. This song totally mesmerised a sickly, malnourished little 8 year old back in 1972. I didn’t even understand some of the lyrics 😂 yet I clung onto it and that gorgeous melody, wonderful percussive rhythm and the pretty vocal backing harmonies as if it shone biblical rays of hope to banish the hunger, torment and suffering for better days ahead. Possibly my earliest recollection of a song to call my own ❤
私は72年には6歳で、この曲を知りませんでした。
今年、2023年、日本の歌手、藤井風の花という曲がこの曲を思い出すという事でたどり着きました。
ぜひ、この曲も聴いて頂けたら嬉しいです。
Ozark forever in my head . What a scene what a song 🎵 👏
Ah, a perfect song for a simpler time!
Just don't write them like this anymore...Wonderful. ❤
Crazy. Imagine being able to write a masterpiece like this. In 20 mins. Doing all the vocals and instruments BY YOURSELF. In 20 MINS. Cause that's how long it took him. To say legendary is an understatement cause we all know of his other accomplishments
Otherworldly
20 years old, Queen of the world. Still pulls at the heartstrings 48 years later. Pure class
Ozark brought me here. What a song
Found this song because of the Gala Bingo adverts. So glad I did amazing song
Todd Rundgren sparks memories of bright summer days and breezy summer nights every time his music plays. The memories it piques are warm and full of images of smiling friends, quiet eyes looking back at me with admiration, love and genuine care. I seldom have these memories with other music but something about his melodies and lyrics kick starts a nostalgia unequaled by any other artist. The Horse country of Kentucky is sublime on summer evenings, and we cruised those byways with nary a care in the world. Most all my friends then were cool people, escaping the pending adulthood for as long as we could. Alas,it finally caught up with all of us, but Todd helped us fend off responsibility for another golden day and another sultry night.
Heard this on Ozark today, wowww Goosebumps soo much nostalgia for an absolutely brilliant beautiful song, saw the comments below,heart-warming truly my people.💃🔥🌈⚘🦋Grew up with this song, unbelievable how petty people can be complaining just because watching a series triggered the memory or even interest for the first time. How beautiful that people have connected with this amazing song in whatever way. Some people will find things to complain&ridicule even when they don't exist.
This album was an immense part of my 70s and 80s. I kept it in constant rotation and I still love it

The perfect song to get in a street fight with, Ozark brought me.
Make a Todd Rundgren greatest hits CD, fill it up with songs like this and be sure to play it when the kids or grand kids are around. Great Saturday afternoon atmosphere. They as you did will soak it in and someday be writing about there own nostalgia about this powerful music that sticks a lifetime. Don't let it end with our generation, it's too good, pass it on.
Just screams the 70's...in a very good way😊
A bouquet of ear-catching melodies 🎶
Todd is the best singer and song writer. He has a very unique voice! His songs evoke so much emotion. I love this mans music! Thank you Todd!
Here from Ozark, Ep 4-11, the fight scene and this song playing afterwards was perfection for some reason, Jason Bateman’s facial expressions walking toward the camera were nothing less than exhilarating to watch, best show ever
