Funny how some songs are timeless! I had the something/anything album on an 8 track, sometimes it would play all nite, over and over! I'm 65 and still love this song!
JOE RECORDS -- this vid alone is worth a sub! It's great knowing that someone I put my musical trust in when I was in the 8th grade -- 53 years ago! -- is as good now as he's ever been.
I was 18, and had just been "dumped" -- only in my case, she said, "How can you lose something that you never had?" i.e. she wasn't really my girlfriend -- she had just been nice to me. I did see Todd Live with Ringo.
Unfortunately, he’s not even close to what he once was. Painful to hear him now. So off-key. Father Time has not been kind to his musical talent. Sometimes you got to know when you just don’t have it, anymore.
@@royceskepagny6182 Perhaps not. Your opinion, and you are welcome to it. I, however, will continue to enjoy him and his music and his humor and his empathy for as long as he chooses to put it out there for us.
Haven't heard this song in years but oddly enough it came to mind the other day and kept running through my head. I remember when it was a new. And his monologue us great too
Amazing how someone with a deep voice can produce such amazing high notes. Pure talent. I'm on here searching and didn't realize Todd sang several songs that I grew up listening to and really enjoyed. Amazing what you can discover when you decide to do a little research. You'll sure be surprised. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to each of you. God Bless ❤
Love todd, love, to see him on the road with Darell Hall (them Philly boys) it would be a great show, try watching Todd at darrells house, you'll thank me later An old cowboy from arizona
Rundgren, Preston, 75/76 MSG NYC, first Date taken to a concert, dated ended, But the Music Lived On. Once again, Rundgren with Ringo Starr and the ALL-STAR Band, Reno NV. Second date to a concert, Music lives on and so do we, Peace ya'all 2022.
When I was a kid in the early 70s there was the usual parking lot carnival at the shopping plaza. My mom took us and we played lots of games on the midway and EVERY single game in which I won a prize it was the same ride… a 45 of We Gotta Get You a Woman. I wore out at least one copy. The rest are probably still at my mom’s house. 😂❤️
I saw Todd at the Youngstown Tomorrow Club in the late 70s when I was a teenager and again in 2000 in Boardman, Ohio at the Southern Park Mall. What a great event especially the first one.
Todd is so cool. His voice still holds up incredibly. In fact, one could argue that it sounds even better. It now has a smokey quality to it and I mean that in the best way possible. Kind of like how John Fogerty sounds. If these wonderful singers don't abuse their voices, they really do improve like fine wine.
I heard Todd the first time in London. We were moving from Michigan to Europe I heard Hello its me on a cheap car radio and loved the song. Couldn't figure out if it was a guy or a girl singing. Found out a year or so later when I was at El Corte Ingles in Madrid that it was Todd that singing it. Bought that Something Anything album at least 5 or 6 times since.
Todd, you've taken me from high school to Social Security. Thanks for a great life of great music.
Ditto
@@sandeedobberstine5591 me too
Same here.
Love ❤ you Steve !! Me too!!
I appreciate him more now then the 70"s
Todd Rundgren is one of the most talented musician, EVER!
I'm 55 now but introduced my 16yr old son to 1970's music and Todd Rundgren. He loves this song and "Hello its me".
Todd makes this world a little brighter
You have to love Todd’s sense of humor! He is just an incredible music man!
J’ai 61 et j’adorais Todd Rundgren depuis j’avais 18 ans et j’ai vu Todd 28 fois et maintenant je suis professeur avec doctorat merci Todd
Just saw him last night in DC. Got home at midnight n couldn't sleep till 3AM from excitement. Great show. He will always be a True Star!
Waaaaah! I just came upon this and thought, I wonder if he’ll be in DC soon?
Soon again I hope.
A wizard and a true star......?????...... lol
"...and when we're thru with u, we'll get me one too..." love that last line.
That’s my favorite line too!!😊
I’ve loved this song since I’ve heard it in the early 70s. Todd Rundgrun is a major inspiration to other artists.
He did this with his 1st band Nazz
@@catlines400No,he didn’t play this with Nazz! think it’s on the Runt album or later.but not ‘Nazz anyone got my back on this?
@@bradhoag1475Runt LP...correct. Hello Its Me was on a Nazz LP though. Very different version!
Just beautiful! As beautiful as the 1st time I heard it in HS. Great work Todd, you still got it!
I got to see him in the 70's at his peak. It was awesome! He's still excellent!
What do you mean ..at his peak..he never climbed down off of his peak..🇨🇦
@@paulinechapman5669 I guess I meant when we heard more about him and his stuff was more commonly on the radio. You're right, he never lost it :)
I met him in New Orleans and he invited me to the trailer I sat on his lap,my birthday
Actually, he hasn't peaked yet! 😀
@@susanentwisle4727 I met him last year through a mutual friend. As you know he's just as real as you or I. Humble and kind.
I’m crying. He’s been a source of humor, comfort, and amazement in many of our lives for so many years. ❤ Thanks for this video.

I love this still in 2023. The lyric “and we’re through with you we’ll get you one too”. 🥰
I remember buying this single for 87 cents at the drugstore downtown. I wondered who this "Runt" guy was, but I've been a fan since then.
Heard this on AM radio in the 70's, been a absolute Fav since.
😂❤😊
Amazing. Been listening since back in the day, still strong and relevant!
What a great time machine I've stumbled into, transported me back to 1970.........❣️❣️

I always loved you Todd, & have learned to love all your music besides the hits ❤
I've seen Todd live 5 times. He's always great!
I was a baby when this came out, but it takes me back to entirely different, cool era. 😎
The 70's were a very cool 😎 time.

Mad respect for Todd, but it’s hard to see him not being able to sing like he used to. The Utopia albums were some of my all time favorite albums.

@shanedenny- 100%. He’s so talented! Many times played all the instruments on the songs and dubbed them in
Dear Todd- thank you for recognizing the brilliance of drummer Prairie Prince.
He married one of The Tubes, so I’m pretty sure he was a fan.
LOVE THIS SONG 🎵
Boy this really brings me back. This was not the type of song I would have liked back then either but it just grows on you as great hits do.
And that wonderful Todd Shuffle at 5:16 ❤🌟

I shook Todds hand in the early 70s at Tower Records in Toledo. Nice humble guy.
I live in Toledo and remember that store.
I met him in an elevator lobby in Las Vegas. What a nice guy.
I love hearing Todd talk!
Awesome performance! Unbelievable how good Todd's voice is after all of these years.
Great capture - a story and a song - the best

Me too. And I always seem to return to him with strong nostalgia and something else.....
1970...I was in the Army at Ft Ord CA...played this 45 until it wore thru to the other side
Great song by a great dude😊
Always loved his music. Thank you, Todd !!!
Love this guy ❤️😘
The first time I ever heard this song was covered by The Four Tops. I only heard Todd Rundgren years later.
I was there..unforgettable.
What a fantastic video--the story and this song is amazing. Just saw Todd with Daryl Hall on tour--hope to get to a solo Todd concert soon.
Todd, thank you for the great music.
Check out FOXES and FOSSILS' version of this song! Todd even commented and loved it!
👍
Todd Knows.
such great songs...so under rated. The song tracks of our lives. Thank you Todd
He's hilarious! 😆
Thanks for posting !
We saw him signing records at the Harrisburg East Mall in the early 1970's. His hair was green. Awesome.
I was there that day!
I followed him back to the loading dock where he got the limo and we talked for quite a while.
The memory I have of this song is when it was released. It changed my life alot personally. Thank you Todd.
A monster talent. 💐

He figured into one of my favorite episodes of "That Seventies Show." Brought back memories of my 1970s.
Love seeing him in New York. My hometown. I going to read his book. I’m his biggest fan
Thank you , Todd.
I will always love Todd.
My friend from back home just went to see him last night. He's just an amazing hit writer and did a great job on raising Liv!!!!!!
I saw him in Denver 1994 at the Ogden Theater. Fantastic one man show. I never forgot it.
Foxes and Fossils did a great cover of this on their channel.
'Nazz' were a great band. I have their 3 lp's and moving into his solo works was a no-brainer. Keep Rockin' TR.
Still love you!!!!
Unbelievable how great it sounds today. Todd American Oconomowoc, epic musical genius and good singer. I have hus Something / Anything Album.
Prairie Prince...one of the most underrated and underrecognized drummers out there. He's so good.
I was in sixth grade when this was a hit. Now I'm 63.
