I wish she wouldn’t wear so many gowns. I wish she’d mostly wear knee length dresses like she did in seasons 38 and 39. She wore way too many gowns in seasons 40 and 41

I actually think Ryan won't do that bad of a job, he already has hosting experience from several other shows.
@@CWAentDespite the naysayers not liking that it’s nowadays too many gigs and sometimes not acting right, you’re right that fans can’t forget the kids game shows he hosted in the 90’s, one of which Merv created as well.

Good luck to Ryan. No one can replace Pat, but I'm sure Ryan knows that and if he can make Wheel his show, he'll do great.
Of course, I'm hoping to see more money on the wheel this year like $1,000, $1,250, $1,500 and $2,000 and maybe bring back the Jackpot wedge.
I would enjoy that, too. The Mystery wedges are worth $1,000, but we haven't had a traditional $1,000 space in a long time.
Also, Ryan's gonna need to take his time to get familiarized with the rules of the game, so he can host well when the season starts

@@LeotheTiger1234 if they bring back the $1,000 it needs to be sparkly like it was in 1997. It's a top dollar as a four digit space...top dollars are sparkly by default...the same should apply to 1,500 and if Jackpot comes back...bring back the sparkling red from 1997 too when they started sponsoring it with rice and hot pockets.

and with $42,000 up for grabs as a *MINIMUM* in the Bonus Round, I don't think anyone will mind anmore how often it gets landed on and won.
They stop doing that minimum bonus round after season 40. During season 41 we never saw $41,000 minimum but we saw $40,000 card again.

@@wiirareusb8456 because the season minimum was getting kinda played out. They probably only do it between the 5 and the 0 as a sort of "season countdown". If Nighttime Wheel makes it to the 50 mark (preferably with both Vanna and Maggie or at least Maggie if Vanna retires), then 50 would be the new minimum.

It's gonna take some getting used to. It's not that we don't like Ryan. It's just that we loved Pat so much as the host.

It'll be kind of like when Drew Carey succeeded to The Price is Right after Bob Barker retired as host back in 2007, because sure while the show was retooled and was no longer "Bob's show" it still carried on even then. Drew proved to be different though granted his first couple of seasons were...rough to say the least in the course of transition (Seasons 36 and 37, oof that was so long ago but i still remember all the controversy and drama over on the Golden-Road boards at the time) but was still able to make the show his own and was not just merely trying to fill the mold of the shoes that Bob left.
I imagine it will be a similar story when Ryan succeeds Pat, different but still able to keep what was able to make the show work for so long even if it's going to take a good deal of time to adjust to someone else in the hosting role.
The golden-road discussion was awful at the time....most people thought Drew had 3 Strikes already...and it drove them Bonkers. Hopefully season 42 doesn't make some people Lose A Turn.
@@Superlad9494 Indeed, and while Drew undoubtedly had some growing pains in those early seasons and there were questionable decisions made (Drewcases, wow that was a train wreck of poorly written slop Showcases, the hideous short lived purple color on the Big Wheel anyone?) he definitely grew past that initial awkwardness and adjusted in time.
Oh yes, i recall the conversations over there circa 2008/2009 and boy it was something to read all the fiery posts from users at the time who seemed to take the Drew criticism and hate to the extreme along with the changes made after Bob retired and Roger Dobkowitz departed.
The Season 36 set wasn't all that great, but you had to start somewhere. The "hold my hand, say Alakazam" was out of place, IMO. Luckily by Season 37, the set got redesigned using THAT of the Million Dollar Spectaculars, and Drew just did a 3-count for suspense.
@@gameshowguy2000 yeah the magic words thing was probably tryimg to distinguish from Bob, but other than that those hypocycloids were distracting.
Maybe Wheel will eventually update it's set?
@@gameshowguy2000 Yes, and it was definitely a period of transition for sure at the time after Bob's retirement in June 2007 at the end of Season 35. Thankfully in time Drew was able to move out of that initial period of awkwardness even though it took him the better part of two seasons to get to that point. By Season 38 he really started getting the hang of things.
My mother watches the show and has NO CLUE who Ryan is. Time will tell how she reacts.
Didn’t like Ken Jennings at first on Jeopardy. but has grown used to him.
Reality show fans might've known him for hosting American Idol, and they might not have been pleased to let him be Pat's successor though
Plus, Ken Jennings was the GOAT cause he's currently holding the longest streak ever in his Jeopardy run, giving him notabilities, so why the dislike on him in the first place

@@chris.twentyeightt if Ryan does flub it...maybe bring back David Sidoni? David did the Saturday show in 1997 and did a good job being Saturday-Pat for the only decent live action program on the kid's block (that CBS had the nerve to insult...not sure why they called it a sleeper when even with the stunts it was still mostly just regular wheel played for points and prizes).
Or Maggie can take the Wheel?
It is extremely tough to live up to Pats legacy, so sadly I feel like no matter what happens, people are gonna complain and be like “he sucks, give us Pat back or someone else”

Ryan being the new host is a good change. It is time for a new generation, although Pat has been wonderful and no one can replace him.
Another change that should be made is that they should replace some of the $500 spaces on the wheel. Half the spaces are $500. They need more variety money spaces. They should have a $750 space, a $950(which they only have on CWOF), a $1250 space and a $1500 space. Those are all spaces that have been on the wheel in the past.

I don't know how this will work out.
Most are skeptical about Sony choosing Ryan over the fact that it's so much of the guy, and after Vanna decided she'd give him a chance, I've seen rumors coming from the Daily Mail about her possibly retiring before her contract's up. This could be something like Susan Stafford still involved for a time when Pat made his debut, and the fans would wonder how this could play out with a new co-hostess, if Vanna is indeed retiring early.
@@jennings861b8 I would wait until Vanna herself says what she plans to do if she plans on retiring...on any feed for Wheel...and if Vanna does retire...Maggie should be on the board.
That said...when/if Vanna retires....she's got the biggest shoes to fill of any hostess...as not even the Price Ladies who predated her were ever on her level...nor are today's ladies....though Rachel comes pretty close.

Things in a way have come full circle for Ryan. He's now hosting a Merv Griffin show; his very first game show was Click, also a creation of Merv Griffin. (That one was aimed at teenagers, though.)

Maggie was almost chosen, from what I've seen on Radar Online, and now it looks like there's rumors from the Daily Mail about Vanna possibly giving it second thought on giving Ryan a chance. Remembering Susan Stafford was still the co-hostess for a time when Pat made his debut, the fans would wonder how this could play out with a new co-hostess, if Vanna is indeed retiring before the end of her contract.

I'd say let's give Ryan a chance but the older fans like me that grew up with Pat at the helm, feel that Ryan will have some big shoes to fill -- but again we all have had to start somewhere and probably replace someone ! I feel that the ratings may be affected by a new host. They really should have had Maggie take over or Vanna -- keep it in the family. Oh well, let's hope for the best . If it doesn't stay high in the ratings maybe they can beg Pat to come back ???
From what I’ve seen about Vanna and Maggie, until Sony chose Ryan, is Maggie almost got the gig, according to a Radar Online story. As for Vanna, after her hosting performance in December 2019 was considered debatable, she said in an interview that she’d like to be at the puzzleboard, except there’s currently concerns about rumors from the Daily Mail, regarding the longtime co-hostess possibly retiring early.
