    I'm a bare bones beginner guitar player coming from 10 years of sight reading traditional sheet music. Your instructions with using the frets and note names with their strings is making it so much easier for me to understand.
    So many guitar lessons out there don't do this at all just playing and I guess expect you to play back at slower speed and just mimic what they're doing.
    Thanks so much for uploading a lesson with clear instructions on how to play the notes and where to press making it easier for beginners like me to learn reading tabs.

    Thanks so much for taking the time to make this video. I've been playing this for years but your lead run on the D and C really spice up the tune. You may already know this, but I believe the instruction and tabbing on the D run are different from your playing. Specifically, on the G string you play 2, 4, 2, 4 slide to 7 whereas your tabbing and instruction show 2, 4 slide to 7.

    • @gatoryak7332
      @gatoryak7332 Před 3 lety +2

      I took lessons from an old bluegrass guy. During the first three lessons, not a note was played - he just spun CDs and taught me to listen. Super valuable! Use your hearing! How many notes do you hear between the main notes of the descending G-scale? Does they sound like down-strokes or up-strokes, or both? Play what you think you hear on your guitar and compare. Keep experimenting until you get it the way you like it. There is no rule that says you must play a tune exactly like somebody else played it.

    Excellent arrangement - great video - TAB - so so - it would be helpful for the TAB to have rhythmic values and to accurately reflect what you are actually playing. For example, @ 4:22 you introduce the classic G walk down but the TAB does not show the other notes that you are playing in this measure. I realize that you explain what your playing - but the standard in this very competitive market is accurate TAB with rhythmic values. As noted by another viewer, @ 8:59, the TAB does not agree with what is being played. This is what stands between me and a membership to this site. Best of luck - you have much to offer.

    I notice that your tab begins in 4/4 time for the first half, and then switches to 6/8 or something? for the D and C portion. It seems to me that I'm hearing notes during the "D" section that aren't represented, specifically after the hammer-on, it sounds like you play the G string: A B as a hammer-on, then repeat that phrase with the addition of a slide from the B to the D on the 7th fret. It works out melodically when played, but the notation is inaccurate and confusing. No offense, but most writers have an editor for a reason.

    Well there is one mistake in the way you play it and how you teach it that makes it sound shitty when i tried to learn it here it is:
    At the beginning of the d solo flatpicking section where you say to just play the 4 fret 3d string, you actually play a hammer on there, i slowed it down when you play it fast, maybe you could correct that cause it makes a huge difference ✌🏻cheers from germany, from a lad who is pretty much alone in his country depending on flatpicking music in generall
