We are commanded to pray in jummah as an Ummah. When you able to reach a masjid ofc. I live very far from masjid which makes it hard but I love salat at masjid the most with other believers, it has the most blessing and benefit.

What do to during the last 10 nights to seek the bounty of laylatul Qadr which is better than 1 thousand months!
1.The night starts at Maghrib, not Isha.
2.Catch Isha and Fajr prayers in congregation.
3.Pray Qiyam with the Imam until he finishes.
4.Dua - particularly short ones like "Allahumma innaka afuwwun tuhibbul afwa fa'fu anni."
5.Maintain good manners towards your family and close ones.
6.Make the most of the whole night - diversify good deeds such as Taraweeh, Tahajjud, Dua, Charity, and Reading Quran.
7.Stay away from sins so that Allah may accept these good deeds
Bonus. Itikaf where you stay in the mosque giving you the opportunity to do all these acts of worship in the house of Allah

as a muslim, i would choose building a well for people that need water over building a mosque any time of the day... nowadays i see countries building immense mosques that are very very expensive while they have bad hospitals/healthcare, education systems and infrastructure. Especially there where there are endless mosques anyways.
He may not know much about Islam, and it seems that making a well for others/poor seems legit a good and charitable deed for others. So yeah.
