That "potato thingy" is essentially a potato dumpling! Mashed potatoes get mixed with other ingredients to make a doughy texture and then it gets cooked in boiling water. So good!
It such a satisfying texture, when boiled. I sometimes pan fry them in Butter. The crispy crunchy outside paired with the 'mochi'-like texture is so amazing. I always eat it with Sauerkraut and Braten, after that I feel like a boulder
Typically, what you do with these "cookies" aka "Lebkuchenherzen", is keep them until they're hard as a rock and then throw them away
OMG!! i'm czech and since czechia is right next to germany we share a lot of culture and of course cuisine! the knödel, (in czech knedlík) could be translated as dumpling! these are usually not filled though, its just a ball of dough. theres multiple types as well, mainly potato (the one you had), bread i suppose (?) and quark, which are usually filled with fruit. i dont know if thats done in germany though since quark fruit dumplings are a czechoslovak tradition. potato dumplings are also sometimes filled with smoked meat. hope someone finds this interesting :))
I found it interesting ty for sharing
Is a German I got to say I love Czechia
Yes, Czech knedliki are the best. I love the Bavarian and Thuringian as well but you guys make some fantastic Knödel and food all together.
Knödel is the best! In English it just translates to dumpling because in English they started calling everything dumpling but it’s made out of potato (no filling) and is like a giant, slightly squishy gnocchi usually eaten with the German version of gravy :) it’s amazing and one of my favourite sides!
Kloß mit Soß
As a German, I‘m glad you enjoyed Oktoberfest and our beer and food 🍻🥨
You mean as a Bavarian or South German. North German cannot even comprehend good cuisine.
@@MrNebelschatten No, I don’t. I‘m from the north, but have been living in the south for quite a while. I enjoy both 😉
The “potato ball” is one of my personal favorites. It’s called Kartoffelknödel, super delicious and served with a variety of dishes. There’s also a different variant called Semmelknödel, which is more like a bread version if you will but similar in texture. Glad your experience a beautiful portion of our culture :)
Day 1 of asking lisa to try chicken breast stuffed with cream cheese, wrapped in bacon.
That sounds delicious
@@LisaNguyenthanks for replying Lisa!
@@LisaNguyenI like to mix the cream cheese with herbs and spices, or chilli peppers etc.
Add diced jalapeños, please 😂! That sounds so good!
@@lolafairchild88 yes, that’s what I add sometimes!
This looks incredible might have to fly over for the weekend as I'm in the UK and then get back to uni on Monday 😂
Might as well 😂
💛
You going to Oktoberfest with Holli each year is so awesome! I have a good friend that I go to the Renaissance Festival with every year & this reminded me of that! 💖🥰💖
Going through Munich on a Paris to Prague tour in March and can’t wait for beer and pretzels!
You made me miss Germany so bad 😭🤤 the food and beer is just so comforting
I'm German and I can tell you what that Potato ball was. The Potato ball is called Knödel, it's made from who guesst it Potato, you smash the potato and mix it with a bit Flour ( Mehl ) and cook it in water. The other Ball was Germknodel. Sadly I do not know how you make it but you do stem it. Happy to see you enjoy Oktoberfest. Sadly I can't go there just yet. Hopefully next year. (◍•ᴗ•◍)✧*。
So glad you made it! Those memories will last forever! I still remember my years there!
No way! You were in my City 🤭 im so glad you enjoyed it!
You gotta love Lisa videos
I am from Germany, but never made it ti the Oktoberfest.....the round things are Knödel (exist different kinds of).....the sweet one was a Germknödel, must try it with Plum or meldet Butter wirh poppy seat.......👍💜
YES!!! you should post the original too!! You're the best, great job! LOVE YOU
Looks like a lot of fun & the food looks delicious 😋
Very interesting food. Keep up the good work I really enjoy your vids.😊
I’m so jealous! Outfits on point!!
I love how you all dressed up. So cool!!!
I love it. Good vibes ❤
The potato thingy is called Kartoffelknödel and the steamed dessert dumpling is called Dampfnudel. Both are staples of Southern German cuisine and super good. Kartoffelknödel also have a totally unique texture which makes them addictive, try them youll see😊
Wow, looks like so much fun
Awesome Lisa
OH JESUS CHRIST THAT LOOKS SO GREAT MAKING ME HUNGRY 😋
I'm a fish or fowl person myself.....but I do enjoy watching your vlogs on cooking pretty much anything....perhaps it's the narration 😊
Lmao @ the fish from Zelda game. Your hair looks so freakin pretty! This looks sooooo fun dude. Would LOVE to attend this
I wish you would have had someone take a picture of you and Holly in your dresses. You two looked so beautiful in the glimpses we caught 😍❤
I’m legit happy you got to experience the festival. Super surprised you ate Schweinshaxe! That’s super authentic German cuisine, and pork knuckle tends to turn off American tourists (I find Americans tend to be picky eaters). Did you manage to get a good currywurst while there? Jc
Hope you have more fun adventures ahead of you. Prost!
She's Vietnamese-American - pork knuckle is pretty much a walk in the park for her.
Picky eaters? One of the most popular dishes in my state is literally bull balls lmao
@@Omnibushido- there’s diversity, sure. There’s also some Cajun foods that use organ meats that folks either love or totally avoid.
On the other hand there’s also fish like carp, that Americans don’t like cause it’s too boney
For reference, last time I was in Germany I was eating “mett” as a snack. Aka seasoned pork tartare
Thanks!
Wow! What an Octoberfest! I love all the delicious foods! 🙌👏 2:06
Lisa in the Oktoberfest dress!? WOW!
omg!!!! dampfnudel !!!!!!!! it's literally my favourite german food even if just for the fact i had it while living there and could never find it when i returned to the uk, but yeah it does require a sweet tooth
Nice video !! Looked like you guys enjoyed yourself !! Did you travel to more places in Europe ?
0:36 the "hard cookie" is Lebkuchen or gingerbread, heart shaped and with some coloured sugar glaze on it.
I went last year as well while I was staying in Salzburg.
Great food, and wayyy too easy to have too much beer 😂
Octoberfest is fun ❤
Tht looks so good
Looks like a great party. I went to an octoberfest party years ago before i had children. It was thrown by a german. We had beer and food. It was a good time.

Nice channel where you from
That's a lot of food 😂
Holy ❤🥰🤗
Omg u were here, Oktoberfest is a time I stopped enjoying cos it has gotten too big and full and ppl turn too drunken n nasty
The "wiener schnitzel" translated to a viennese schnitzel it's an austrian dish and can only by named "viennese" if it was made in vienna otherwise you'd have to label it "viennese style schnitzel"
Just a lil fyi not trying to hate or anything like that
fish on sticks really does remind me of the lil bokoblin camps
1:20 not into beer!
Day 7 of asking Lisa to showcase Hispanic foods for Hispanic heritage month 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Please dont laugh at our wonderful Knödel.
Where did your friend get the dirndl outfit?
You always talk about your siblings Lisa. How many do you have?

Poor Holly has hit the wall so hard. Those Midwest white girl genes. She looks like a PTA mom but she's like 28 😂!
As an American who is German in the blood I went back to Germany specifically Munich and I learned that I love sauerkraut and sausage
Edit: nice durndel lisa
Wait how did you make me like oktoberfest I hate drunkeness and overindulgence. Just realised post watching. Actually looked fun somehow. I just hate old dudes in college setting hideous but you look like your having a great time. Wanna hang out?
