Rush - 2112 / Overture - The Temples Of Syrinx
Vložit
- čas přidán 11. 12. 2009
- The first two parts, 'Overture' and 'Temples of Syrinx' from the Rush song '2112,' from the album of the same name.
Lyrics - For those that want them
'And the meek shall inherit the earth.
...
Weve taken care of everything
The words you hear the songs you sing
The pictures that give pleasure to your eyes
Its one for all and all for one
We work together common sons
Never need to wonder how or why
We are the priests of the temples of syrinx
Our great computers fill the hallowed halls
We are the priests of the temples of syrinx
All the gifts of life are held within our walls
Look around this world we made
Equality our stock in trade
Come and join the brotherhood of man
Oh what a nice contented world
Let the banners be unfurled
Hold the red star proudly high in hand
We are the priests of the temples of syrinx
Our great computers fill the hallowed halls.
We are the priests of the temples of syrinx
All the gifts of life are held within our walls.' - Hudba
THE DRUM PROFESSOR LIVES FOREVER IN MUSIC!
Neil Peart R.I.P. Thank you for the Music of my Youth
Ive been listening to RUSH for 40 years... While I listen to alot of different styles, I never get tired of RUSH.
SAME HERE BRO... just turned 50.. i was ten when my life changed///
Same here like all my favorite 70s classic aerosmith rush van Halen led Zep acdc heart foreigner and 1000 1hit wonders
All these years later and I still can't get enough of this song...
Neil Pert is one of the greatest drummers period. Plus he wrote every song by Rush.
That's fucking massive talent.
This song/album is high on the bad ass list
If 2112 was a movie, it would be the best movie ever.
Guitar Hero made a little story thing about 2112.
kenny kliff Films are better than books in the VAST majority of cases. It's just a fact. haha ;)
People don't read book anymore these days, you didn't know this?
Stratahoovius Um... no, almost everyone will tell you the books are better than their film counterparts in almost every case.
BoySamusMetroid I was joking. Probably didn't come across as an attempt at humour, sorry about that. Haha ;)
Stratahoovius Ah, my mistake.
First Rush song I ever heard. Played it over and over on my cousin's 8-track tape. RIP Neil.
@Dave Webb Some friends of mine named their cat after this song SYRINX ! He was huge long haired with mitten paws .
@@debsayler624 Cool :)
One of the first Rush songs I learned on guitar!
Remember going from ST.catharines to buffalo to see rush- those were the days-no cell phones but we all communicated just fine back in 76

i am only ten years old and I love rush and I was born on rush .we are the priest of the temple of syrinx yeeaaa!!!!!
2112 was released when I was a high school sophomore. I was too young to drive but would catch a ride home with friends. For 3 or 4 weeks that spring several of us pre-wound our cassettes and 8 tracks to the 1:30 point on this track (no time shown on the tape players, maybe a counter if you had a higher end cassette). Then as we were leaving the school parking lot at the end of the day we'd crank this and roll out thinking we were some sort of caravan of cool.
Anyone remember 6x9 Jensen's? The speakers everyone had to have.
Zoetropeification wow that was a very familiar great flashback you just gave me! memories that I haven't recalled in a long long time...exactly why Im listening to this tune right now! high school parking lot Louisville KY 1982...life was great!
jensen triaxials they were the best for that time. i had a set in a pinto. i had a whole car full of music (and smoke some times.)
Rest in Peace Mr.Professor of the drum kit who also wrote some very deep lyrics. Heaven has a new member of their all star band.
One of the greatest songs of all time by one of the best bands ever!!!
This is when RUSH was incredible! i don't go for their newer stuff at all but this old material was awesome!

RIP Neil
Wow! what an interesting and entertaining piece of music. I've Listened to it 4 times in a row. I don't understand how I have never heard it before. I like "Rush", I listen to their music regularly but this song seemed to escape me until tonight.
one of the best songs ever done... amazing
And the meek shall inherit the Earth.
Wish it were true.
It's true ! And what a surprise it will be
The Meek are Low Key. Invisible. 3%
❤⚘🎭The Meek ☆re Low Key. Invisible. They are allegedly 3% of Earth's Population, Possess the largest percentage of the world's currency. The majority of population don't know their names or what their appearance is. Two names come to mind. America's Rockefeller & Greet Britain's Rothchilds. Tip of the iceberg or pyramid. We know so very little about them, yet, they pretty much know everything about all of us. Thank 🎈You Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerman. 🖤YUP
Thats not the true translation though. From the greek, the origin translation from that passage means "Those who bear the swords but keep them sheathed, those shall Inherit the Earth" The ones capable on having the power to take down the "monsters", but not use that power for evil, those will lead the world to a better future.
Hands down, Neil Peart is the best drummer of all time!
i'm sure Danny Carey would have something to say about that.
So would Keith Moon and Animal.
Kevin Blount Not sure if by "Animal" you're actually inferring Mick Fleetwood, but either way I agree.
animal is a drumming puppet
Devand MacLean
animal is a drumming puppet
I'm 33 years old, been listening to Rush for probably 30 of those years, and this s#!* Never gets old!!! Rush will live forever!

The pictures that give pleasure to your eyes!
Freemason propaganda.. Secret societies manipulating the world
I was at the RUSH/ 2112 show down at Cobo Hall Detroit Mi. If you listen at 4:20 above you can hear what was at the time the largest indoor pyrotechnics blast on record. It was deafening and blinding. I was lighting a big fat joint at the same time the flash pods went off all the way down the front of the stage with one Gigantic blast from the bass drums.I thought I blew the place up. So when Geddy sings "the meek shall inherit the earth" the whole place was stunned silly.... add that to a great buzz we had and it is still one of my best nights ever. some 40 years later. Can anybody back me up on this story??
+patrick gorham December 2nd 1978?
I dedicate this to Brett.. RIP. I LOVE U.
RIP Neil.
I remember buying 2112 way back when i was a mere boy and a beardless youth, i have since kissed them both goodbye! I am now clean shaven and thankfully been Rush free ever since.
Man, I could listen to 4:45- on a loop for hours.
Oh dear, I think Rush might have portrayed totalitarian kitsch a little too well...
I live for 1:31 - 1:59
Thank you Dad for introducing Rush to me
Best song to Air Drum, Air guitar, Air Bass, air keyboard ever. especially drum
Lmao the truth! I just air guitarred myself into a slight headache. Kind of ashamed
My brother once told me that he knew this guy who broke his arm while air drumming to Tom Sawyer.
"Shit got intense"
Captain Zack your forgot the Air voice
RIP Neil Peart
I love how there is a slow climax to the actual vocals of the song. Im a new fan so its interesting to finally hear what everyone is raving about.
Seen them 26 times and they never get old. RUSH ROCKS
I remember I used to have an mp3 player when I was younger and I always skipped this song for some reason.. I guess I just didn't like the first few seconds but once I actually gave it a chance and 0:47 hit, it became one of my all time favorite songs.
+e30rik ya. happened to all of us as a kid. I used to listen to Latter Days, and always skip straight to Stairway to Heaven. took me about a year to figure out there were other songs.
+e30rik same, i remember the first time i listened to this song, the whole of 2112, it was my dad and i, he looks at me and goes, "wanna hear my favorite rush song?" he starts playing this. sat through the overture before temple of syrinx starts, like most kids thinking, "eugh, i hate only instrumental parts." but then it picks up, and man. i love this song now. its my favorite now, too.
almost all the music i listen to is modern metal, but man, rush is where its at, truely amazing band! one of the greatest

This song brings back such memories! Love the music. It's a modern day masterpiece. Rush is awesome and I appreciate each of the three band members. Neil Peart is an amazing drummer, Alex Lifeson rocks on the guitar and Geddy Lee is a great frontman. They blend together so well. That's why they've been together, making amazing music for so long!
my first concert in chicago 77 or78 loved it still the best ive ever seen

back in the day, this album was voted # 1 for a good reason. Always will be one of the best!
Rush warned us all those years ago; this is a cautionary tale...and a badass way to do it, as well.
Thank you for adding!! This is my favorite!
Saw them last night in columbus, best Live show I have ever been too. Tickets were 76 bucks but OMG, no opening band and they performed for about 3 hours. so many songs and spot on Live. Go see them if you ever get the chance!
This album should have come with a life time supply of speakers!
Takes me back to having the house to myself, blazing up and putting on my headphones... You know with wires plugged into my old Pioneer....
@MrShneebly100
When it gets silent and he says "And the Meek shall inherit the earth" always brings a tear to my eye.
This is why it's great having subs hooked up to my computer.
Esta introdução é D++++++++.
Cranking up this up full blast in a car system is unreal
Rush is just the greatest band ever.
We will see Rush tonight in Charlotte...I am sooooo excited!!!

this masterpiece can't be described by any word but amazing !
I like whistling this song, my wife just stairs at me. It is a catchy tune.
And the meek shall inherit the earth, for nature will rose up against there enemies.
The 21st of every month this year is a 2112! It is the year of the Rush!
Real rock and roll people remember this I do
No one has commented on this in like a year shocking I love rush!
beautiful !
To anyone who says Canada is inferior to the U.S. (I'm a U.S. American incidentally), I give you Rush and I give you the CFL. Most of my countrymen mock that which they don't understand.
It helps Canada keep its head above the water!
Rush and the CFL rock!
what about Nickelback, Justin Bieber, ISIS, and Brian Adams? they are all from Canada too
Yeah dat ISIS doe... fucking idiot
Yeah dat ISIS doe... fucking idiot
